Amal Maher releases long-awaited new album Haga Gheir - Music - Arts & Culture
At the beginning of the 2020s, the 40-year-old star made a brief return with a handful of singles, maintaining a low profile.
This was through a five-track EP, Ana Kwaiesa (I'm Fine), released in 2023, marking a return to her fans through concerts across the Arab region.
The long-awaited new full album Haga Gheir consists of 10 new songs. Its release on YouTube and music streaming platforms further underscores her complete artistic resurgence.
Days before the full album's release, Maher dropped one song, Khabar Agel (Breaking News), on 15 July. The song's music video soon reached 300,000 views on YouTube, paving the way for the consecutive nine tracks unveiled on Sunday.
The songs quickly resonated with Maher's fans, with music videos of Odet Hayato (The Obsession of His Life) and Nseit Esmy (I Forgot My Name) racking up over 60,000 views within just hours of their release.
The album showcases diverse themes and modern musical styles, reflecting the artist's ever-evolving creative journey.
The Haga Gheir track blends traditional Arabic melodic patterns with modern pop production, creating a fresh yet familiar sound. The orchestration includes rich strings layered with electronic beats, emphasizing Amal's powerful vocal delivery.
Equally pronounced pulsating electronic beats and synth layers open Nseit Esmy, a track that fuses Spanish guitar with mainstream Arabic pop. Latin accents are additionally emphasized by a music video presenting flamenco dancers.
Emotional ballad Leh Sektu? (Why Did You Stay Silent?) blends classical guitar with Arabic rhythms and rich oriental percussion.
Another romantic ballad, Law Leena Omr (If We Had Time), evokes a cinematic feel through its arrangement, which capitalizes on open string lines and layered harmonic textures, laying a rich carpet for Maher's vocal showcase. The emotional release comes with solo piano, allowing listeners to savour the song's melancholy.
Maher's album stands out through a compelling blend of traditional Arabic elements and contemporary influences, topped with electronic beats, pulsating synths, and flamenco-inspired Latin twists.
In all those creative meanders, Maher's voice finds a great platform to shine, showcasing its many values that only reassure us of her incredible talent, skills, and emotional depth, all of which continue to thrive.
In this album, Maher collaborated with a select group of renowned lyricists, including many tracks penned by Nader Abdullah, as well as composers such as Madian, Mohamady, Ahmed Zaeem, Amr El Shazly, Islam Refaat, and Ayman Bahgat Kamar. This helped her bring diversity and richness to the style and content.

Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan dead at 71 - Omni sports
Hulk Hogan, the iconic face of professional wrestling in the 1980s who parlayed his prowess in the ring into an acting career, has died at the age of 71, US media reported Thursday. Hogan -- a Hall of Fame talent known for his towering 6'7" (two-meter) physique, bandana and distinctive blond handlebar mustache -- died at his home in Florida, NBC News reported, citing his manager Chris Volo. TMZ also reported the news, citing unnamed sources and an emergency personnel dispatch call about a "cardiac arrest" at his home. Hogan's magnetic personality -- his ring character was a heroic all-American -- and wrestling skills transformed the sport into mainstream family entertainment, attracting millions of viewers and turning the league into a revenue juggernaut. Hogan -- real name Terry Bollea -- first competed in 1979 in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now known as WWE) but became a mainstay and fan favorite in the mid-1980s alongside others like Andre the Giant and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. His brand of "Hulkamania" transferred to the small and big screen, with roles in films such as "Rocky III," "No Holds Barred" and TV's "Baywatch." He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s," World Wrestling Entertainment said on social media. "WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." The wrestler was embroiled in controversy more than a decade ago after an intimate video of him leaked, and then again a few years later for his use of racist language, including a slur referring to Black Americans. The latter caused him to be fired from WWE in 2015. He later apologized for his actions and was reinstated to the WWE Hall of Fame. In recent years, Hogan became an avid supporter of US President Donald Trump. He memorably appeared at the 2024 Republican National Convention that would seal Trump's nomination -- tearing his shirt off to reveal a Trump-Vance tank top. "With our leader up there, my hero, that gladiator, we're gonna bring America back together," Hogan said on stage in July 2024. Hogan suffered numerous health problems in later years, stemming from the years of abuse his body took in the ring. He was married three times, and had two children with his first wife Linda. Azza Fahmy Brings Jewellery & Craft to Egypt's North Coast This Summer
This summer, Azza Fahmy returns to Egypt's North Coast with seasonal spaces in Marassi, Almaza, and Diplo, each built around jewellery, design, and a newly introduced café concept. Jul 24, 2025 Azza Fahmy is back on Egypt's North Coast this summer with three distinct spaces in Marassi Marina, Almaza Bay, and Diplo — each shaped around a different experience. From private jewellery viewings to hands-on workshops and a new food concept, the brand's summer program draws from the legacy of design that has defined it for decades. In Marassi, the focus is on High Jewellery. Appointments can be scheduled for private viewings of the house's most intricate pieces, which include handpicked stones and finely worked details that reflect the craftsmanship Azza Fahmy is known for. Diplo reopens with a redesigned boutique and something unexpected: Craft by Cult, a café concept developed by the brand. The space serves a short, design-conscious food and drink menu — including an iced sugarcane matcha that's already become a signature — within an interior shaped by the house's visual language. Creative sessions are also running in Diplo and Almaza through the DSAF (Design Studio by Azza Fahmy) Sahel Edition. This season's focus is on making beaded sunglass chains — a casual, hands-on introduction to jewellery techniques that puts design directly in the hands of guests. The summer coincides with the release of Wonders of Nature, a new collection by Amina Ghali inspired by travels across Southeast Asia. Floral motifs — including lotus, jasmine, and daisy — appear alongside Arabic calligraphy, all cast in 18k gold and sterling silver. The pieces reflect the kind of detailed storytelling that has long shaped the brand's aesthetic. To mark International Friendship Day on July 30th, the house is celebrating the Never Apart bracelet, a piece that speaks to enduring relationships and lasting connection, no matter the distance.
