Government's decision to increase per-day working hours of APSRTC employees opposed
Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Staff and Workers Federation have called for protests and gate meetings at all the depots across the State on June 19 to oppose the State government's decision to increase working hours to 10-hours-a-day and to allow women to work in night shifts.
Speaking at the federation's State committee meeting in Guntur on Sunday, its State president Ch. Sundaraiah and general secretary M. Ayyappa Reddy expressed concern over the government's 'anti-worker policies' and said they would participate in the State-wide protest call given by the Joint Action Committee of Employees and Workers Unions.
The federation leaders demanded that the government implement the circular 1/2019 on conductor's job security, cancel the worker-hostile clauses in GO No. 70, and pay all the pending dues to employees and workers. They also demanded immediate constitution of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and announcement of Interim Relief (IR).
The federation has decided to hold its State conference on June 27 in Vijayawada to discuss the issues affecting conductors and other employees. The leaders also announced plans to hold a State-level 13th conference on October 9-10 in Tirupati, and organise training classes for selected activists in July.
They urged the APSRTC management to discuss and resolve the issues affecting employees and workers, and demanded deployment of new buses, recruitment of drivers, conductors and mechanics and payment of all pending dues.

Andhra Pradesh's ‘free bus ride for women' should set a benchmark, says Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu
Taking stock of the Super Six scheme of free travel for women in APSRTC buses in a review meeting on Saturday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told the officials to ensure adequate availability of buses, keeping in view the likely surge in occupancy after its scheduled launch on August 15. Mr. Naidu suggested that new buses be procured, or hired if required, while ordering that all buses that might be needed for the APSRTC's fleet in the future should be electric vehicles, and the extent to which the existing buses could be converted to electric buses should be studied. All buses should be fitted with GPS devices, he added. Mr. Naidu said the promises made to people at the time of elections ought to be kept in spite of the financial burden entailed by them, and, in the same vein, stressed the need for fiscal prudence, saying that every single rupee was valuable. He exhorted the APSRTC officials to explore new revenue streams, reduce expenditure, and improve operational efficiency, and highlighted the importance of cleanliness on all premises of the public carrier and in the buses. Further, Mr. Naidu advised the officials to examine whether it was feasible to operate buses through battery swapping as it would be cost effective, and to evaluate the operation of battery-operated and non-battery buses, and private management of service stations. The officials told the Chief Minister that 2,536 additional buses were required for the free travel scheme, and the cost was estimated to be ₹996 crore. It was expected that women could make 889 million trips annually under the scheme from the present 430.60 million. As on date, Delhi, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana were offering free bus travel to women, and Andhra Pradesh should set a benchmark thereof, Mr. Naidu added.

ULB secretariat employees demand promotions before transfers, stages stir
Kurnool: Tension prevailed at the Municipal Office in Kurnool as members of the Urban Local Body (ULB) Secretariat JAC Committee staged a protest on Tuesday demanding the revocation of GO No. 5. The employees expressed outrage over the government's decision to implement transfers without first granting due promotions, calling it unjust and discriminatory. The protestors urged the government to amend GO No 5, allowing transfers to native mandals and enabling staff movement between wards within the same municipality. They also demanded that Gazetted-level regulations applied to Record Assistant-level employees be revised, claiming that the current policies are disproportionately burdening lower-cadre workers without justification. They emphasized their commitment to performing government duties and demanded equal treatment, asking why Secretariat employees were being singled out for discrimination. The demonstration saw participation from several key members of the ULB Secretariat JAC Committee, including Chendrasekhar, Maria Joshna, Shivashankar, Ramprasad, Shivaprasad, Mohan, Bheemraj, Rajesh Kumar, Parandhamudu, Rahul, Manohar, Mahendra, Eella Maddayya, Srinivasulu, Chendana Kalyani, Syed Asma Zabeena, and Vijayakumari.
