Lonzo Ball is officially leaving the Windy City.
After spending a few years with the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans, the UCLA product signed a four-year, $85 million contract with the Chicago Bulls. His stint with the Bulls started off with so much promise, but injuries ultimately derailed his career for a few years.
Although he's finally healthy, Chicago is ready to move on from Ball. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Bulls are trading the talented point guard to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaac Okoro.
Ball appeared in 35 games this past season, averaging 7.6 points and 3.3 assists per contest. When he was healthy during the 2021-22 season, he averaged 13.0 points and 5.1 assists per game for the Bulls.
Okoro, meanwhile, averaged 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for the Cavaliers this past season.
This trade has to be bittersweet for Ball, who expressed nothing but gratitude for the front office and coaching staff during his time in Chicago.
"The overall picture for the doctor being here to having dealt with the rehab process for me, the relationship I have with the front office, the coaching staff, the young guys, so it kind of all made sense for me to stay," Ball said earlier this year. "That's what I wanted ultimately and it ended coming to. The process we already built, the rehab. I feel we've been progressing well and are on the same page. I don't want to go to a new organization and start that all over really. I'm happy they gave me the contract and I'm happy to be here."
NBA fans wasted no time offering their initial thoughts on this trade.
"The Cleveland Cavaliers just got even better. Still lost on what the true direction of the Bulls is," one fan said.
"This trade having no draft capital is wild," a second fan wrote.
"There is no way Lonzo Ball and Isaac Okoro got the same trade value," another fan said.
"How does Lonzo fit in Cleveland this trades doesn't make sense unless they reroute him somewhere else," a social media user argued.
It'll be fascinating to see what role the Cavaliers have planned for Ball.
In theory, Ball will get a fresh start to showcase his skills in Cleveland. However, he'll join a backcourt that already features Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell.
Regardless of Ball's role, we just want the former No. 2 overall pick to stay healthy for the entire 2025-26 season.Basketball Fans React To Shocking Lonzo Ball Trade first appeared on The Spun on Jun 28, 2025

How to watch the USMNT vs. Costa Rica: Tournament legacy on the line in 2025 Gold Cup

The United States returns to the Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinals Sunday under the dome at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, facing a depleted but familiar Costa Rica squad with tournament pedigree and a long memory. Here's how to watch as the USMNT tries to keep its tournament run on track against an old rival. Advertisement International streaming via Concacaf GO. Chris Richards was everywhere in the group stage, breaking up plays, winning headers and volleying in the match's only goal in a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia. The U.S. finished atop Group D after defeating Haiti and reminded viewers that, for all its volatility, this young squad still knows how to close. Now comes Costa Rica. These teams know each other well, and while the U.S. enters as the favorite — BetMGM has the squad listed at -175 — recent history says this fixture tends to get complicated. Costa Rica will be without striker Manfred Ugalde and winger Carlos Mora (both suspended), as well as injured attackers Ariel Lassiter and Warren Madrigal. It's a short bench, but not a soft opponent. Up front, the USMNT still lacks a clear finisher. Haji Wright remains unavailable, and no striker has fully claimed the job. Off the field, the most competitive battle may be for bragging rights in the team's Clash Royale matches. The U.S. has reached the semifinals in all but one Gold Cup since 1991. A win keeps them on script. A loss would mark just the second time in 34 years they've missed the final four. Streaming and ticketing links in this article are provided by partners of The Athletic.
