USC Trojan Marching Band honors college football legend Lee Corso at ESPY Awards
Although he told some hilarious jokes, USC fans likely were not thrilled that the event was hosted by Notre Dame fan Shane Gillis. However, the Trojans had their moment at the ESPYs, too.
Later in the night, ESPN rolled out a tribute to legendary College GameDay personality Lee Corso, who is set to retire following one final show in September. After the video rolled, GameDay co-host Pat McAfee, who was on stage with Corso, called out, "USC, please strike the band!" On cue, members of the Trojan Marching Band, including the Drum Major, took the stage playing the iconic College GameDay theme song.
In addition, the band presented Corso with a Trojans helmet, which he put on while throwing up a "Fight On." This marked Corso's 18th and final time "picking" the Trojans. Famously, USC went 17-0 when he donned their headgear on GameDay.
Corso's final edition of College GameDay will take place on August 30th from Columbus, Ohio ahead of the Ohio State-Texas showdown.

Sam Acho to join Cardinals' preseason TV broadcasts as analyst
The Cardinals bring back a former player to help call preseason games. The Arizona Cardinals have announced another addition to their broadcast team, although it is only for the preseason. They announced Wednesday that Sam Acho would be the analyst for the TV broadcast of the team's three preseason games. This comes on the heels of the announcement that former Cardinals offensive lineman A.Q. Shipley would be the team's new radio analyst for game broadcasts. Ron Wolfley was previously the radio analyst and, for preseason games, the analyst for the team's television broadcasts, but he stepped down after 20 years, wishing to have more time with his family on weekends. Acho was a fourth-round pick of the Cardinals out of Texas in 2011 and played nine years in the league, the first four with the Cardinals. He is also an ESPN analyst, focusing mostly on college football. The Cardinals will broadcast all three of their preseason games on television on CBS-5. Dave Pasch, the team's radio play-by-play announcer, will call play-by-play for the first two preseason games on television with Acho. Dani Sureck will be the sideline reporter for the TV broadcasts. Pasch, who also is a college football announcer for ESPN, will not be available for the Aug. 23 preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders, so Paul Calvisi, normally the sideline reporter for the radio broadcast team, will call play-by-play with Acho as the analyst. While Pasch is working the TV broadcast, Calvisi will call play-by-play on the radio for the first two preseason games with Shipley. Shannon Sharpe opens up about ESPN firing — and why he wanted news to wait even longer
Shannon Sharpe is speaking out after his reported firing by ESPN on Wednesday, saying he's 'at peace' with the axing. After The Athletic's Andrew Marchand broke the news earlier in the day, the Pro Football Hall of Famer addressed the news on his 'Nightcap' podcast. Sharpe said he had known that he was officially done at ESPN for a little bit, but he was hoping the news wouldn't be made public until his brother, Sterling Sharpe, was officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend. That, however, did not happen. 'I found out this information a little earlier in the week, and really the only thing that I really asked is, 'Guys, could we wait until Monday? My brother's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, I really want it to be about him and I want it to be about my family,' Sharpe said. 'I said, 'This coming out will overshadow everything he's worked his entire life for.' And, unfortunately, it didn't happen that way.' Sharpe said he 'profusely' apologized to his brother about it. The former Super Bowl champion wideout is done at the network after he settled a $50 million lawsuit where he was accused of rape. Sharpe had been named in a civil lawsuit filed in Nevada state court this spring that alleged he committed assault, sexual assault, sexual battery and battery. Shannon Sharpe addressed his ESPN firing. He denied 'all allegations of coercion or misconduct,' through his legal team, and he stepped away from his duties at ESPN in April. 'I really enjoyed my time at ESPN, they gave me an opportunity to bring my audience that saw me really just grow,' Sharpe said on his podcast. 'They did what they felt they needed to do, I'm at peace with that. I just wish this thing could've waited until Monday because I hate the fact that I am overshadowing my brother. First two brothers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and this is what the headline is going to be for the next couple of days.' Sharpe then used his podcast platform to apologize directly to his brother one more time. Mariners Reportedly Acquire Diamondbacks Slugger Eugenio Suárez
The Arizona Diamondbacks are trading All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez to the Seattle Mariners, according to a report from ESPN. Suarez was viewed as one of the more sure bets to get dealt ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. Suárez is batting .247 with 36 home runs, 87 RBIs (tied for the most in MLB) and an OPS of .898. The Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies reportedly all expressed interest in the 34-year-old.
