iCents escapes impact from US reciprocal tariffs, looks forward to market expansion
However, some of its customers and end-users in Malaysia may be affected, since they manufacture products that are ultimately exported to the US market.
Managing director Vincent Ong Mum Fei noted that geopolitical events, financial crises, trade conflicts – including sanctions and tariffs – and technological shifts could effect the business.
He highlighted that, within Malaysia, changes in political, economic or regulatory conditions affecting the semiconductor and electrical and electronics sectors may also impact the company's operations and financial performance.
'Our core focus is on design, functionality, and leadership within our industry. We handle everything from design and installation to production, collection and management.
'While there is no immediate impact from US developments or tariffs on our operations, we are mindful of potential indirect effects, especially as many companies adopt a 'wait and see' approach to ongoing global changes.
'However, we continue to see steady demand through our recurring projects and established central control systems,' Ong told reporters today after launching the prospectus in conjunction with the company's initial public offering (IPO).
iCents provides services covering engineering, procurement, construction, and testing and commissioning (EPCC) of cleanrooms. The group also manufactures cleanroom fixtures and related products.
In addition to its cleanroom expertise, iCents provides a range of other facility services, including the hook-up of machinery and equipment, supply and installation of heavy-duty ceiling systems, construction services, and maintenance services for other facilities.
The group's services cater to highly technical industries, semiconductor and electronics, data centres, life sciences and pharmaceutical product manufacturing.
As of June 5, the group reported an unbilled order book totalling RM93.21 million. This amount includes RM53.53 million from its cleanroom services segment and RM39.68 million from its other facility services segment.
iCents plans to set up a facility close to its Mantin factory to increase capacity to store materials and finished products. The new facility will be in rented premises with built-up area of about 20,000 sq ft that already has all required regulatory approvals.
Beyond Malaysia, iCents plans to set up a sales and technical support office in Jakarta, Indonesia, to provide an operational base to grow its business. It also intends to set up a sales and marketing office in Singapore, and a sales and technical support office in Kuching, Sarawak, to extend the group's physical presence to East Malaysia.
iCents aims to raise RM27 million from its ACE Market listing. Out of that, RM4.68 million (17.31%) will allocated for the purchase of machinery and equipment, RM3.02 million (11.19%) for business expansion, RM1.72 million (6.35%) for product development, RM1.5 million (5.56%) for marketing activities, RM12.09 million (44.77%) for working capital and RM4 million (14.82%) to cover estimated listing expenses.
iCents' IPO encompasses an issuance of 112.5 million shares, of which 25 million will be balloted to the Malaysian public, 10 million reserved for eligible directors, employees, and contributors, 15 million will be privately placed with selected investors, and 62.5 million will be privately placed with Bumiputera investors approved by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
Additionally, 30 million shares will be privately placed with selected investors.
iCents will have a market capitalisation of RM120 million upon listing, which is scheduled for July 17, based on an enlarged issued share capital of 500.00 million shares and an IPO price of RM0.24 per share.
Alliance Islamic Bank Bhd is the principal adviser, sponsor, sole underwriter and placement agent for iCents' IPO.
In terms of financial performance, the group's revenue increased from RM55.78 million in the financial year ended June 30, 2022 (FY22) to RM80.7 million in the financial year ended June 30, 2024 (FY24).
Over the same period, the group's net profit rose from RM2.90 million to RM7.02 million, representing a compound annual growth rate of 55.57%.
For the six-month financial period ended Dec 31, 2024, the group recorded revenue of RM43.93 million and net profit of RM5.03 million.
Ong said the prospectus launch marks a significant milestone for iCents, underscoring commitment to growth and excellence.
With a decade of experience and a proven track record in delivering cleanroom projects for several multinational corporations, iCents is ready to embark into a new phase of growth journey and strengthen market presence, he added.
'The IPO proceeds will support key initiatives towards our business expansion plans including the purchase of machinery and equipment to enhance our in-house manufacturing capabilities, strengthening and expanding our presence across foreign geographical markets such as Indonesia, Singapore, and Sarawak, as well as the funding for working capital requirements,' Ong said.

Australia and NZ dollars bounce, rate cut buzz still a burden
SYDNEY: The Australian and New Zealand dollars regained some footing on Friday as their US counterpart ran into fresh selling, but for the week both nursed losses as markets increased bets on rate cuts at home. The Aussie edged up 0.3 per cent to US$0.6505, and off a three-week low of US$0.6454 hit overnight. That left it down 1 per cent for the week and short of a recent eight-month top of US$0.6595. The kiwi dollar bounced 0.4 per cent to US$0.5955, having touched a trough of US$0.5906 overnight. It was down 0.9 per cent on the week, moving further away from a nine-month high of US$0.6120 hit on July 1. A surprisingly soft jobs report this week has seen markets move to fully price in a quarter-point rate cut to 3.60 per cent from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) when it meets on August 12. There is talk the RBA might consider an easing of 50 basis points, as they did in May, though that might look like it was admitting a mistake by not cutting this month. One hurdle is the consumer price report for the second quarter due at the end of July where a reading on core inflation of 0.8 per cent or above could give the RBA pause. Most analysts are expecting around 0.7 per cent, which would see annual core inflation slow to 2.7 per cent, from 2.9 per cent, and nearer the middle of the RBA's 2 per cent to 3 per cent target band. The disappointing jobs data suggests it would now take a very high inflation number to prevent a cut, while a result around 0.6 per cent could see the market get even more dovish. "Should Q2 CPI print weaker and reciprocal US tariff developments step up, then we may well head into the August meeting with more than 25bp priced," said Su-Lin Ong, chief economist at RBC Capital Markets. "There are clearer signs of loosening with the labour market moving more into balance from erring tight," she added. "Coupled with inflation back within target, this suggests that policy settings should move more quickly towards neutral." Ong is tipping cuts in August, November and early next year. Market are priced for a finishing point of 3.10 per cent, with a 40 per cent chance of reaching 2.85 per cent. New Zealand's CPI report is due on Monday and forecast to show a rise in the annual pace to 2.8 per cent from 2.5 per cent, largely due to food and electricity prices. However, core measures are expected to be more benign, leaving the door open to a rate reduction in August.

iCents breaks IPO lull with strong ACE Market debut
KUALA LUMPUR: ACE Market debutant iCents Group Holdings Bhd opened with a surprising 21 per cent premium yesterday, a level not seen among initial public offerings (IPOs) since Richtech Digital Bhd's debut on Feb 17. iCents is the 35th IPO on Bursa Malaysia this year, while Richtech was the sixth. Since then, debut premiums above 20 per cent have been rare as investor appetite for new listings has waned amid broader market uncertainty. The stock opened at 29 sen — a five sen or 21 per cent premium over its IPO price of 24 sen. It ended the day even stronger at 34 sen, up 41.7 per cent, with 150 million shares traded, topping the day's volume leaderboard. Richtech ended its debut with a 28 per cent gain, while the highest debut premium this year was recorded by Oriental Kopi Holdings Bhd at 98.86 per cent, followed by Swift Energy Technology Bhd at 41.07 per cent. Over the past five months, IPO debuts have generally been lacklustre as investors turned cautious amid heightened global uncertainties, particularly following intensified trade rhetoric from US President Donald Trump. To date, 36 companies have listed on Bursa Malaysia — six on the Main Market, three on the LEAP Market, and 27 on the ACE Market. More recently, the market has seen steadier debuts, with A1 AK Koh Group Bhd, PMCK Bhd, and ASM Automation Group Bhd holding their ground at the opening bell. However, analysts say it may still be too early to call it a recovery. Tradeview Capital fund manager Neoh Jia Man said the strong entrance is not necessarily indicative of a broad resurgence in sentiment toward local IPOs. "Instead, its performance reflects company-specific factors such as its attractive valuation, differentiated business model and relatively small market capitalisation, which caused its IPO to stand out," he said. Neoh said market sentiment today was buoyed by the strong overnight performance of the US markets, with the impact spilling over to Asian equities. He added that the announcement of several major domestic construction contract awards has provided a further boost, especially to construction-related stocks. Malacca Securities Bhd research head Loui Low said the market has so far seen a decent flow of interest, with none of the recent IPOs registering negative debuts on their first trading day. "This could be a sign for recovering and we might be able to come out from the low season of IPO. "However, we definitely need to see a decent pricing valuation IPO in order to see strong upside opportunity in upcoming IPO. "It is a matter of whether retailers will buy the story and idea of the new IPOs," he said Loui expressed hope that the momentum is sustainable but cautioned that it will require stronger liquidity support to maintain. He noted that sentiment on the local front is showing gradual recovery, and if that continues, IPO activity should follow. "Nonetheless, the wild card is always Trump with a volatile policies on trade front and swings in statements on Twitter or X platform," he saod. Loui said the renewed interest in recent IPOs is largely driven by companies with a compelling growth story, exposure to attractive sectors and most importantly, reasonable valuation. "IPO needs a good story and attractive sector and especially decent valuation for the retailers to bid for shares of the IPO company. "If story is dull and valuations of IPO is on the high side as compared to the sector peers, then it will be tough for investors to enjoy the upside," he added.
