Manufacturing Sector Powers Kelantan's Economic Progress As ECERDC Spurs RM1.21 Bln In Investments
KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Kelantan's transformation into an emerging industrial hub continues to gain momentum as the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) secures RM1.21 billion in realised investments, driven primarily by the manufacturing sector.
Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud said the progress surpassed the annual investment target, reflecting the strong commitment of the state government with the federal government through ECERDC.
"The RM1.21 billion in realised investments, driven largely by the renewable energy sector, signals Kelantan's readiness for high-impact development.
"With an additional RM290 million in committed investments projected to create over 650 new jobs, investor confidence in Kelantan's long-term potential continues to grow," he said after chairing the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Implementation and Coordination Committee Kelantan meeting in Kota Bahru today.
In a statement, ECERDC said the achievement reaffirms Kelantan's growing appeal as a competitive investment destination within the ECER.
ECERDC said key contributors to this milestone include the 84 megawatt (MW) mini hydro power plant project in Kuala Krai, which has begun groundwork, and the development of an automotive 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centre at the Halal Park in Pasir Mas, which is expected to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2025.
According to the statement, major progress has been recorded in the construction of the Palekbang–Kota Bharu Bridge.
It also noted that the works on the cable-stayed section across Sungai Kelantan began in April 2025, and the overall project remains on track for completion.
Meanwhile, ECERDC has formalised a collaboration agreement with Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Negeri Kelantan and Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan Bukit Awang today.

This document will serve as a strategic guide for future engagements, ensuring they remain grounded in ASEAN's principles as outlined in the ASEAN Charter and TAC. The review process will adopt an action-oriented approach, covering all three pillars of the ASEAN Community and the ASEAN Connectivity agenda. KUALA LUMPUR: Youth possess the transformative potential to foster an inclusive and resilient ASEAN community by actively engaging in volunteerism and social development initiatives. Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh emphasized this during the launch of the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Forum 2025 at Auditorium Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia. She noted that platforms like the ASEAN Youth Volunteer programme equip young individuals with skills to become agents of social change. 'We aim to train youth so they are prepared to act when their services are needed,' Yeoh stated. With over 220 million youth across ASEAN, she stressed that empowering them with knowledge and support could position the region as a global leader in workforce sustainability and development. The forum, attended by policymakers and young leaders, focuses on four key themes aligned with ASEAN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These include youth volunteerism for inclusive growth, environmental advocacy, social harmony, and digital tools for community empowerment. PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival aims for RM200k sales in Shah Alam
SHAH ALAM: The PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival (KUP) is aiming for RM200,000 in sales over its three-day event at PKNS Complex. Organisers reported transactions worth RM65,209 on the first day. State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the carnival helps entrepreneurs enhance their skills and marketability. The event features participants from four PKNS-run programmes: PROTUNe, GROW, GROW PLUS, and BIZCLUB Exclusive. 'Entrepreneurs here gain more than just sales opportunities. They also learn communication, marketing, and time management through expo training,' said Mohd Najwan.
