Govt reiterates commitment to women's empowerment
The Minister made these remarks during the ceremonial launch of the 'SITHA' (She Is The Hero Always) app, developed by SheJobs, held here on Monday. He described the app's introduction as a celebration of a broader movement, one that aims to provide women across Telangana, irrespective of their background, with equal access to opportunities, economic independence, and leadership roles.
'True empowerment,' the Minister asserted, 'occurs when women are free to exercise their rights within the household and are actively involved in decision-making.' Quoting the latest 'Men and Women in India – 2024' report, released by the Central Statistical Office (CSO), he highlighted that 86% of rural women and 89% of urban women in Telangana are participating in household decisions. 'These are not just statistics,' he stated, 'but indicators of Telangana's silent revolution towards gender equity. They represent steps towards fulfilling the vision of a just and inclusive society.'
He underlined that women form the backbone of Telangana's social fabric, and the government remains unwavering in its mission to ensure equal access to education, employment, and leadership. The government is establishing Mahila Shakti Canteens at government offices and tourist locations and has already distributed Rs 21,000 crore in zero interest loans within just the first year of this initiative. Furthermore, Telangana has entered agreements with oil corporations to set up petrol bunks in all 31 districts, which will be managed by women's collectives, in an effort to further promote self reliance and financial security.

Two central agencies procure 90,000 tonnes of onions so far, to complete target by first week of Aug
Nashik: Two central govt agencies have procured around 90,000 tonnes of onions from the farmer producers' companies so far against Centre's target of 3 lakh tonnes for these agencies to create a buffer stock. The National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (Nafed) and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Limited (NCCF) procured onions at the average price of Rs 1,634 per quintal during the last three weeks. At present, both the agencies are procuring onions at the rate of Rs 1,575 per quintal. The rates are decided by the department of consumer affairs of Union govt. Officials from the two agencies said they would complete their procurement target by Aug first week. "While NCCF has procured 54,000 tonnes of onions so far, Nafed has procured 35,000 tonnes," an official said. Union govt undertakes onion procurement annually to create a buffer stock to manage the supply of onions, particularly during the potential scarcity periods around Aug-Sept each year. Last year, govt procured 4.7 lakh tonnes of onions through Nafed and NCCF to build the buffer stock. Joshi assured both the state ministers to look into their demands positively. But even after a week, no decision has been taken in this connection.

26k flats in stalled Amrapali projects ready, 8k by Sept
Noida: Marred by delays over GRAP restrictions and fund crisis, National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) will complete the construction of 8,000 flats in the stalled projects of Amrapali Group by Sept 2025, six months after its initial deadline of March. Of the 37,000 stalled units that govt-run construction company was tasked to complete under Supreme Court-appointed court receiver, 26,800 flats have been constructed so far. The last of the stalled projects, Adarsh Awas Yojna, is expected to be ready by March 2026. ‘No expert appointed in casual approach towards cybercrime'
Raipur: The third day of the Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly witnessed another round of heated exchanges and debates as cybercrime and PMAY and MNREGA payments were brought up by BJP and Congress MLAs to pull up the govt over the alleged inaction, delays and negligence in the state. The situation is dire and demands immediate attention. But there seems to be no serious effort to address the issue." He demanded the appointment of a senior officer to oversee the situation. Sharma responded that recovery of funds is subject to court procedures and that an IG-level officer has already been appointed for cybercrime. In response to a query on arrests made between Jan 2024 and June 2025, Sharma said three bank-related fraud cases had led to the imprisonment of seven accused, from Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur.
