Five linen and silk high street pieces our experts are shopping this summer

Daily Mirror01-06-2025
Dressing in warm weather can be difficult, so we've rounded up the very best summer-friendly fabrics to wear this season from brands like Next, Hobbs and Forever New
Whether you're going on holiday or enjoying the sunshine at home, the season for lightweight fabrics is here. To complement your summer wardrobe, our experts found the best and most flattering pieces that perfectly blend comfort with style.
Both linen and silk are ideal summer fabrics thanks to their breathability and moisture-wicking properties, so these pieces will keep you cool and breezy all season long.
From simple silhouettes to on-trend styles, these buys are some of this season's warm-weather essentials. We've rounded up our top picks from brands including Hobbs, Ro&Zo, and Me & Em, starting from £49.
NEXT
Florals are always in for the spring/summer, and this slouchy, silky suit from Next is the perfect alternative to a floral dress. If you're heading to a wedding or the races and not really into floaty skirts or dresses, this suit ticks all the right boxes. It's comfy and airy, and it looks so stylish teamed with strappy low heels and oversized statement earrings.
RO & ZO
If you're looking for something with an easy, breezy linen feel, this warm- weather essential Ro&Zo set is perfect. This tailored yet relaxed look is perfect for throwing on for a sunset dinner or an afternoon stroll.
This set's versatility allows you to mix and match your summer wardrobe or pair the top and bottom together for an effortless look.
HOBBS
Brown has been making a recent comeback, so we think this Hobbs dress in Chestnut Brown would be the perfect addition to your summer closet. In addition to its trendy shade, its 100% pure linen composition paired with pockets and a flattering silhouette ensures that you'll feel both comfortable and stylish.
Style it with some strappy leather sandals for an easy holiday look.
FOREVER NEW
A waistcoat co-ord is a summer wardrobe essential in our opinion. They are so versatile, whether you style them with chunky loafers and a blazer for the office, or kitten heel mules and gold jewellery for an evening out with the girls.
And the linen material on this chic beige one from Forever New means you'll stay cool and airy all summer long.
SHOP THE LOOK:
This pure silk top in the shade 'summer chocolate' will have you feeling both cool and sleek this summer. The open back adds a chic edge to its simple silhouette, allowing you to dress it up or down.
Pair it with the brand's slouchy long-length jeans that shoppers say are 'a staple in every summer wardrobe', and an on-trend eyelet belt for a statement look.

Stacey Solomon's ‘very flattering' swimsuit is perfect for summer with ‘great tummy support'

Stacey Solomon's lemon printed swimsuit is the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe and has been hailed as 'very flattering' If the (soon to be) rising temperatures and return of the warmer weather have got you in the mood to do some summer shopping, you're in the right place as we've found the ultimate figure-flattering swimsuit, and it's all thanks to Stacey Solomon. In a post to her Instagram story, the presenter shared a sweet snap of herself and her daughter in their pool. What caught our attention the most was Stacey's gorgeous lemon-printed swimsuit. After a little digging, we've found the exact one-piece, and it's the White/Blue Stripe Lemon Print Bandeau Ruched Leg Tummy Control Shaping Swimsuit from Next, priced at £38. The ruched high legs, side tie-detailing, and tummy-shaping mesh ensure a flattering fit, so you not only look your best but feel it, too. The UPF 50+ fabric blocks over 97.5% of UV rays in covered areas, so there are no worries about dreaded sunburn (SPF, of course, is still necessary). There are also removable straps so you can make the costume a bandeau depending on the day and level of support you're looking for. But the best part for us is the Dolce Vita-style lemon print. Hailey Bieber just declared that it's a lemon girl summer (after the launch of her new Lemontini Lip Peptide Treatment), and it seems Stacey Solomon agrees. And it's not just Stacey who's been loving this one piece; many reviewers have been praising the flattering fit and comfort. One shopper wrote: "Great tummy control, stays up without straps and lovely detail with rouching and bows on hips. Lovely colours." A second added: "Great fit, love the colours, the direction of the stripes is very flattering." And a third said: "Absolutely lovely good fit lovely colours and shape pulls in tummy really well would highly recommend it for summer holidays". Not all were impressed with a few noting that the swimsuit runs small. One reviewer wrote: "Sizing way off next has always been true to size but this swimsuit was tiny". If you're looking for more tummy-control swimsuits to add to your summer wardrobe, Marks & Spencer and Pour Moi have a stylish and wide selection.

Charlotte Tilbury's 'perfect' lip oil that 'lasts a long time' now under £20 in set

This new duo set lets Charlotte Tilbury fans bag two of the brand's new lip oils for less Charlotte Tilbury recently launched a range of tinted lip oils that shoppers can now grab for less. The Unreal Lips Healthy Glow Nectar Oil Duo allows fans of the iconic makeup brand to save 5% compared to buying each product seperately. The set includes two of Charlotte's new lip oils at £39, meaning shoppers get each item for £19.50, which is cheaper than purchasing one of the products individually (£21). Customers can pick from shades such as Juicylicious Cherry Glaze - a glossy pinky red - or the clear Juicylicious Coconut Water that's ideal for adding over the top of lipstick. Other colours available in the Unreal Lips Healthy Glow Nectar Oil Duo include Juicylicious Pink Watermelon, the brown-pink shade Candy Fig, a light pink named Juicylicious Strawberry Vanilla, and the Juicylicious Pure Peach. The lip oils feature hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to keep pouts hydrated and a clever gel applicator. All of the lip oils contain PH-Powered Filter Tech that adapts to the PH of skin for a shade that's unique to the wearer. Other lip oils available to shop right now include the Gisou Honey Infused Lip Oil which is £24 from Cult Beauty. As a beauty writer it's one of my favourites, and shoppers agree with one saying: "Honey Gold is super glossy, hydrating, and gives your lips a hint of golden shimmer. It looks luxe and feels like a treat every time you apply it." Clarins' super popular Lip Comfort Oil comes in 13 shades and went viral on social media. It's currently available at Next for £25. At Boots, customers can also shop the viral Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil for £33. One shopper said of the product: "This is a lovely non sticky lip colour. Lasts longer than others and is a lovely natural colour." Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Lips Duo £39 Charlotte Tilbury Shop here Product Description If beauty buffs have got their eye on Charlotte Tilbury's Unreal Lips Healthy Glow Nectar Oil Duo then we don't blame them, but one shopper did mention they felt the scent didn't last long enough, writing: "Cute coconut images adorn the lip oil tube, perfect for summer and it glides on smooth. I would give it five stars but I need the scent to last longer. I still use it every day since I received it, great ingredients as always in a Charlotte Tilbury product." Another wasn't impressed with the gloss' price point saying: "Fine lipgloss. But not worth the money tbh." However, the overwhelming majority of reviews for the oils on the Charlotte Tilbury website are positive, with the duo having gained an overall star rating of 4.8 out of five from 108 customer reviews. One shopper said: "Charlotte Tilbury is my go to for multiple makeup products! I love them! I'm very skeptical when it comes to a PH type changing lipstick or gloss. This one hits the mark. It doesn't go super pink or super dark like some others. It's the perfect pink glossy pout. The smell is amazing and the consistency is good, not too thick and not too thin." Another happy customer said: "This lip product glides on so smoothly and feels amazing on the lips. It's the perfect in between, not too sticky but doesn't feel oily either and lasts a long time. "I put it on before I start my workout and when I finish an hour later my lips are still perfectly glossy and hydrated. I also love the very subtle tint it adds, as well as the scent. It's the perfect addition to my lip combo for summer time!"
