Body found in Lake County identified as Napa woman who went missing
The body found on May 27, 2024 in Rodman Slough near North Lakeport has been identified as 62-year-old Ellen Adams, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said. A cause of death has not been determined.
Previously Adams' name had been withheld and only next of kin were notified of her death. Authorities said Tuesday they are now hoping someone will come forward with more information, and a reward is being offered by the family, sheriff's spokesperson Lauren Berlinn said.
Three days before her body was found, Adams was seen about 6 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the Robinson Rancheria Casino in Nice. Surveillance footage later showed her leaving the casino with a man in her white Kia Rio sedan about 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 25.
Detectives have already identified and interviewed the man and don't believe he's connected to Adam's death.
After leaving the casino, the pair drove to the Rodman Slough, which authorities confirmed from witnesses who spoke with Adams.
On May 27, Adams' body was found in Rodman Slough and on June 2, her car was found abandoned near Pyle Road in nearby Nice.
Detectives have reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses, utilized license plate readers, collaborated with Crime Scene Investigators, and worked with other law enforcement agencies. They have also interviewed several witnesses who may have seen Adams between May 24 and May 27, the sheriff's office said.
Detectives were able to track Adams' movements through the afternoon of Saturday, May 25. However, the Lake County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who had contact with or who saw her during the time period of May 24 to May 27, 2024 to come forward.
Adams' family is offering a reward to anyone who provides information that helps solve the case.

Teenager killed in crash and woman injured as man arrested
A man has been arrested after a crash in a village near Oxford killed a teenager and injured a woman. Thames Valley Police said a white Kia Rio 2 left Cuddesdon Road, near the junction of The Green in Horspath and hit a telegraph pole at about 10.20pm on Sunday (August 3). Law & Order column: Police say siblings lied about crash
A brother and sister have been charged with obstruction of justice after authorities said they lied about their involvement in a fatal crash in October. Jordan Ricks, 29, and Asia Ricks, 23, both of Beach Park, were charged after an investigation revealed that they misled police about the accident that killed Daniel Davis, 56, of Beach Park, according to authorities. Davis died on the night of Oct. 18, when he was travelling south on Green Bay Road at what police said was at high speed and ran into a Kia that made a left turn in his path at the Chaplin Drive intersection. The brother and sister told police that Jordan Ricks was driving the Kia at the time and Asia was in the passenger seat, according to reports. However, police now say that Asia Ricks was actually driving, and that Jordan Ricks came to the scene after the collision. 'The investigation revealed the siblings fabricated the story because Asia was likely under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and did not want to be held accountable for her actions,' the Lake County Sheriff's Office said. The pair turned themselves in for processing after they were indicted by a grand jury. They are scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 28. National Night Out A number of police departments across Lake County will be participating in the annual National Night Out event, which takes place on Tuesday. National Night Out is a nationwide campaign aimed at fostering better relationships between communities and their police departments. The events often feature things like cookouts, parades, outdoor and party get-togethers, which give people the chance to meet police in a positive atmosphere and foster community. Grayslake police, in conjunction with its FOP Lodge and the Grayslake Park District, will be participating for the first time. Their event takes place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Central Park, and will feature food and games. Police and public works vehicles will be on display. Most participating departments have posted information about National Night Out activities on their Facebook pages. Waukegan's Night Out takes place at the Waukegan Municipal Beach on Aug. 8. Teens praised Wauconda police recognized four teens who did the right thing when they happened upon a discarded pistol along a village street. The teens were riding their bikes on July 16 along Illinois Route 176, near the U.S. Route 12 underpass, when they saw a .25-caliber Colt handgun on the sidewalk. Two of the boys remained to keep an eye on the gun while the other two rode to the police department to report their find. Police secured the gun for further investigation. 'The bravery and common sense these young men showed is truly commendable,' Chief David Wermes said. 'They turned a potentially dangerous situation into an example of community responsibility.'
