One-fourth of Kerala's land digitally surveyed, says Revenue Min
'Kerala's end-to-end digital resurvey is the first of its kind in the country, with no physical touch-points,' the minister said. 'This digital resurvey can be considered the second Land Reforms Act of Kerala,' he added.
He also said that Kerala will frame a new Settlement Act -- the first since 1931 -- to identify excess land in the state. As part of the reforms, the government will introduce a digital revenue card, the size of a debit card, featuring a chip and QR code. These will be issued in villages where digital resurvey has been completed, starting November.
'Even if a property lacks boundary walls, it will now have a digital boundary. Kerala is once again becoming a model for the country,' Rajan said

Revenue min alleges conspiracy, clarifies on cost
Kottayam: Revenue minister K Rajan termed the false propaganda being unleashed on social media about the model township in Chooralmala as a "planned one". Rajan alleged a conspiracy based on a clear script behind the misinformation being spread. "The houses in the Chooralmala model township are made of high-quality materials. The model house received praise from all corners. However, some are raising baseless allegations. The technical estimate based on DSR 2021 norms estimated the cost of one house at Rs 31.5 lakh, excluding GST. However, the contract given to the Uralungal Society is at a rate of Rs 22 lakh per house, excluding GST. This means that the contract was taken at a 30% discount from the technical estimate," Rajan said. The model township will have an anganwadi, health centre, open-air theatre, market, community centre cum disaster management centre, material collection centre and memorial for those who lost lives in the disaster. Rajan said the model township will have a sevens football ground, public places, roads, check dam bridges, culverts, public toilets, street lights, etc. The total length of the roads in the township is over 11km. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo An underground water tank with a capacity of 7.5 lakh litres and an overhead tank with a 2.5 lakh litres capacity will also be installed. Row over cost of homes built inside township
Kozhikode: The cost of building homes for Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide survivors at Elstone Estate in Wayanad sparked a controversy as opposition leaders questioned the govt's estimated expense. Congress leaders said the model house unveiled on Wednesday should not have cost Rs 30 lakh, as the govt claimed. But Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), which took up the project, said each house cost Rs 22 lakh to build and with 18% tax, the final price would be Rs 25.9 lakh. Congress leader V T Balram wrote on Facebook that local contractors usually charged Rs 1,700-1,800 per sq ft for a decent home, including basic kitchen furnishings and putty-finish painting. For a 1,000sqft house, that would cost around Rs 17-18 lakh or up to Rs 20 lakh with better features. He challenged the govt and ULCCS to explain how the cost reached Rs 30 lakh/home.
