I asked moms what they really want (and don't want) for Mother's Day — here's the dirt
Moms know best. They always seem to have the answers — and when they don't, they'll do everything in their power to track 'em down. And while I consider myself a bit of a gift-giving expert (it's my job!), I went straight to the source to get insight into what they actually want for Mother's Day in 2025 — and more importantly, what they don't.
Speaking of which, all of the moms in question agreed that the tired Mother's Day clichés have got to go. Another coffee mug with a punny message? Skip it. "My mug cabinet is starting to feel like a booby trap and since all of my mugs are sentimental I can't get rid of any of them," commerce editor Janelle Randazza tells me. In the same vein, forgo anything — jewelry, frames, random trinkets, you name it — that says "mom." Sure, she's happy to bear the title, but Jeanine Edwards, our director of commerce initiatives, makes it clear that motherhood isn't her entire persona. "If you want to get me something with writing on it, let's go with Gucci or Chanel."
What about fresh flowers? Some moms (including mine) love 'em, but commerce editor Saundra Latham says they're a hard pass. "They are pretty, yes, but ... they just die. I'd honestly rather get a simple handwritten card that I can hang on to forever," she tells me. Perfume and costume jewelry (like those ubiquitous Pandora charms) also made their do-not-buy list — unless, of course, your mom told you she wanted them.
With that out of the way, let's dive into the Mother's Day gifts that some of my fave Yahoo moms are eyeing this year. From a chic $17 picture frame to a Dutch oven built for two, these picks have range — just like Mom!
The Mother's Day gifts Moms actually want
Roxanne Assoulin Roxanne Assoulin The Happy Cord Charm Necklace
"Roxanne Assoulin's charm necklaces are sweet but not in a cloying way — and ideal for wearing with tees and summer dresses. You can choose from a heart or an initial letter; there are no bad options." — Jennifer Romolini, Senior Beauty Editor $90 at Roxanne Assoulin
Great Jones Great Jones Dutch Baby
"People are always appalled when I tell them my partner buys me cookware for special holidays. 'Don't you want a massage or jewelry?,' they inevitably ask. Yes, those gifts are great, but as someone who loves to cook, I also really enjoy receiving fancy, gorgeous cookware that feels like too much of a splurge to buy myself. I have the larger version of this Great Jones Dutch oven and I'm secretly hoping to complete the set with this smaller option that's easier to maneuver and better-suited for dinner for just one or two. Hint, hint, whoever is reading..." — Jeanine Edwards, Director, Commerce Initiatives $165 at Great Jones
Dreo Dreo Smart Fan
"I'm approaching my mid-50s, so what I wanted from a gift 10 years ago is different from what I want now. I'm constantly too warm and need white noise to even think about falling alseep. I also have two teenage sons who game late and loudly into the night. If we're all gonna make it out of this stage alive, they should consider getting me this fan. Not only will it drown out the loud outbursts and high-pitched yips they emit as some digital foe is chasing them, but it'll keep me cool (both temp-wise and mood-wise) AND it has soft LED lighting that should wipe a few years off my tired face. It's a win-win-win." — Kris Scott, Commerce Editor $130 at Amazon
Amazon Renpho Eyeris 1 Eye Massager with Heat
"I love being a mom so much but I also want to be left alone, like a lot of the time. No offense! I've recently been using a red light mask for 10 minutes a day and I'm really enjoying those quiet moments to myself. So when I spotted this eye mask I was intrigued. It isn't for anti-aging per se, but it is for anti-stress, and I want it badly! It's like a massaging heating pad, but for your peepers. I'm so curious to try it out!" — Nicole Sforza, Executive Editor $52 at Amazon

Mejuri Mejuri Organic Dôme Pebble Necklace
"I don't wear a ton of jewelry, nor do I tend to think of buying it very often (which makes it all the more appreciated as a gift). But I still like having a few classic pieces on hand, and there's just something about this pebble-inspired pendant that I find really eye-catching, and perhaps more importantly, versatile." — Saundra Latham, Commerce Editor $148 at Mejuri
Amazon Manduka Align Yoga Strap
"Last year, I got a robe and have been using the belt as my yoga strap. I'd like to feel a little more together with this sturdy yoga strap, which happens to be our health editor's favorite." — Janelle Randazza, Commerce Editor $20 at Amazon
Explore More Buying Options $20 at DICK'S Sporting Goods
Amazon Handicrafts Home 5" x 7" Picture Frame
"Like so many moms, I have approximately seven zillion pics of my kids sitting on my phone. But I miss printing pictures! I want to get some of those photos off my phone, and I feel like a beautiful frame like this one would give me the nudge I needed to start printing again. The bone inlay looks elegant and unique, but the white is neutral enough to match the decor in any room in my home." — Jeanine Edwards, Director, Commerce Initiatives $17 at Amazon
Quince Quince 100% Organic Cotton Striped Crew Sweater
"I want a cute summer sweater to throw on over cutoffs or white jeans in the evenings during all the fantasy beach vacations I'll be taking this summer. [Narrator: She will be working]. This one has the right cut and a cute-classic nautical vibe." — Jennifer Romolini, Senior Beauty Editor $50 at Quince
Vosges Haut-Chocolat Vosges Haut-Chocolat Carmels et Chocolats
"Sign me up for anything chocolate and caramel. This tube of bonbons is exactly the kind of thing I would immediately hide in the pantry from the rest of my family because MINE MINE SPECIAL ALL MINE. It's also a nice upgrade from the sea salt caramels we buy at Costco (no shade intended, as they're delicious)." — Saundra Latham, Commerce Editor $28 at Vosges Haut-Chocolat
Amazon Marimekko Cotton Makeup Bag
"Marimekko is one of my favorite brands; the prints are like happiness on sight! I rarely leave home without my 'mom kit' — band-aids, hand sanitizer, small snacks, a hair tie... and this pouch would be perfect for storing all those on-the-go essentials. But that's not all: It also works well for makeup, writing utensils and more. Who doesn't love a multitasker?!" — Jeanine Edwards, Director, Commerce Initiatives $66 at Amazon
Amazon Osea Everything Shower Set
"I test approximately a million beauty products a year, but if someone really wanted to treat me they'd pick up some amazing body skin care from Osea, like this luxurious shower set." — Jennifer Romolini, Senior Beauty Editor $68 at Amazon

Chris Meloni Joins, William H. Macy Circling Hulu's NFL Drama From Dan Fogelman
Two big names are preparing to hit the gridiron for Hulu. Chris Meloni will play the head coach of an NFL team in an upcoming Hulu drama from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, TVLine has confirmed. Additionally, Shameless alum William H. Macy is in talks to join the series — tentatively titled 17 Sundays — as well in an undisclosed role, sources tell TVLine. More from TVLine Washington Black's Sterling K. Brown and Ernest Kingsley Junior Revel in the 'Brotherhood and Mentorship' Hulu's Historical Drama Gave Them Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Premiere Date Revealed - Find Out Who's Returning After 3-Year Absence Chicago P.D. Adds The Night Agent's Arienne Mandi as New Series Regular 17 Sundays, first announced back in October, will be written and executive-produced by Fogelman, who also has Season 2 of Paradise in the works at Hulu. Plot details for the new series are being kept under wraps as of now, but sources describe it as a sprawling drama set inside the world of the NFL with a generational family component. Meloni is best known for playing Det. Elliot Stabler, a role he originated on Law & Order: SVU and now plays on Peacock's Law & Order: Organized Crime. His other TV credits include Oz, Happy! and Underground. Macy was a six-time Emmy nominee for his role as patriarch Frank Gallagher on Showtime's Shameless and previously recurred on ER; he's mainly known for his film works in movies like Fargo, Boogie Nights and Magnolia. For all you Law & Order: OC fans worried about this news, Meloni's casting here does not necessarily spell doom for OC, a source maintains, and here's why: 17 Sundays would shoot in the fall, while Organized Crime — if it's renewed for Season 6 — would return to production in the spring. Season 5 of Organized Crime wrapped up its 10-episode run in June. Detroit entrepreneur launches all-in-one platform to help creators monetize work
A former professional basketball player from Detroit is taking his talents from the court to the tech world with one goal in mind: helping creators get paid. Donnavan Kirk is the CEO and president of Creator Connect, a new platform designed to help artists and creatives manage, grow and monetize their work, whether it's physical products or digital content. "It's a marketplace for artists and creators all over the globe," Kirk said. Before launching the platform, Kirk spent nearly two decades pursuing basketball. He played professionally in Lithuania, Cyprus, Greece and Japan, and even launched a youth basketball camp. After retiring from the game, he felt a new calling. "I felt this tug, like, go ahead, get into tech, see where it takes you," he said. "I didn't know how to code a lick." Despite not knowing how to code, Kirk taught himself the ropes and began building Creator Connect, a platform he describes as part Etsy, part Fiverr and part Uber. The platform allows users to browse creators or content they like, submit custom project requests, propose a budget and deadline, and begin the process of closing a deal, all in one place. "What we're basically doing is taking away all that gray area, and saying, 'Hey, look, here's a creator. You may not be able to reach them through a DM, but now you can send them an idea with a budget attached,'" he said. At its core, Kirk says the platform is about empowerment. "I want creators to have freedom, that's my biggest thing. And I want them to get paid rates that make sense," he said. Although Creator Connect is global in scope, Kirk says the energy behind it is purely Detroit. "Now it's game time, and we're here, and we're doing this thing," Kirk said. For more information, visit Creator Connect's website.

‘Lilo & Stitch' Is Now Streaming—How To Watch The Disney Live-Action Hit At Home
Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch, the second biggest film of 2025, has officially arrived on digital platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV+ before debuting on Disney+ sometime in the future. Keep reading to learn how to watch the blockbuster live-action remake for your next movie night below. Lilo & Stitch (2025) is a live-action remake of the beloved 2002 animated original, which inspired several spinoffs, including the popular TV show Lilo & Stitch: The Series. The film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, whom she hopes will help heal her broken family. What Lilo doesn't know is that Stitch was genetically engineered for destruction — and now he's being hunted down by the aliens who created him. 'Stitch, an extraterrestrial entity, comes to planet Earth after he escapes his prison, where he tries to impersonate a dog. Things take a turn when Lilo adopts him from an animal shelter,' the synopsis reads. The film marks 8-year-old Maia Kealoha's breakout role. 'I relate to her because we're both from Hawaii and we're a little bit sassy," the Lilo actress told Deadline. 'We also like fun clothes, and we love surfing. I go surfing in my free time. We also love to dance hula because hula tells a story just like you can tell a story about any different kind of movie.' Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, who plays Nani, added: 'I'm an absolute OG fan of the film. I was looking at this new one like a clean slate. So, I really took to a lot of her identity as the older sister. It was something I held on to the entire time." Lilo & Stitch had an outstanding run at the box office, starting with a record-breaking $183 million debut in its first weekend — the highest-grossing four-day Memorial Day weekend opening in U.S. history. Then, just days ago, Lilo & Stitch became the first Hollywood release of the year to hit $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The movie is currently the second-biggest of the year in the U.S. in both worldwide and domestic gross, according to Box Office Mojo. Its success has been fueled by families and Gen Zers who grew up watching the franchise. Here's how to stream Lilo & Stitch at home, along with details on bonus features, the Disney+ streaming release timeline and updates on Lilo & Stitch 2. How To Watch Lilo & Stitch At Home Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch is currently available to stream on video-on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Fandango At Home. You can purchase the live-action remake for $29.99 or rent the film for $24.99. For rentals, you have 30 days to start watching the video and 48 hours to finish once started. When Will Lilo & Stitch Be Released On Blu-ray, DVD And 4K? Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 26, 2025. The physical versions are available for pre-order now from retailers such as Amazon. The digital and Blu-ray releases will include fun bonus features, including deleted scenes, bloopers, behind-the-scenes moments and more. Check out the full list of bonus features below: When Will Lilo & Stitch (2025) Be Streaming On Disney+? Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, so the live-action film will be released on Disney+ in the near future. It will likely arrive around three to four months after its theatrical premiere, which is sometime in late August or early to mid-September 2025. This timeline is based on the release patterns of other recently successful Disney films. For example, Moana premiered in theaters in November 2024 and landed on Disney+ in March 2025, just over three months later. 2024's Mufasa: The Lion King had a slightly shorter theatrical window of 96 days, but still debuted on Disney+ more than three months after its release. Will There Be A Lilo & Stitch 2? Lilo & Stitch (2025) If you want more of Stitch, Lilo and Nani, you'll be pleased to know that Lilo & Stitch 2 is officially happening. Disney announced in late June that the sequel is currently in development following the massive commercial and critical success of the 2025 film. The announcement was revealed in a fun video shared on Disney's Instagram account. The clip shows Experiment 626 cruising around the Disney lot in the iconic pink children's car from the film. "should've known he couldn't keep a secret. a 626 day surprise: #LiloAndStitch 2 is now in development!" the caption read. The Hollywood Reporter reported on July 23 that Chris Sanders, who co-created, co-wrote, and co-directed the 2002 animated Lilo & Stitch, is in final negotiations to return as the writer for the sequel. Sanders previously voiced the little blue alien in the original film and reprised the role in the live-action version. It's too early to know exactly where Lilo & Stitch 2 will go. The original movie was followed by two direct-to-video sequels, Stitch! The Movie and Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, as well as Lilo & Stitch: The Series. According to THR, the new sequel will tell 'a brand-new story.' Stay tuned to learn more details. Check out the official trailer below.
