From there, OKC maintained their lead, ensuring them a win in Game 6. And because of that, they're now newly crowned NBA Champions.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points in the game as he likely also wins NBA Finals MVP. While he did turn the ball over five times, he also had three steals in the win. While the rest of the team wasn't as explosive, five other players scored at least 10 points or more. Overall, everyone did their part in helping the Thunder win the NBA Finals.

Despite injury concerns, Tyrese Haliburton somehow dropped more than 40 points in the loss. Most of his points came off a hot start. But like the rest of the Pacers' offense, he too slowed down in the end. Overall, the Pacers only scored 18 points in the final 12 minutes, allowing OKC to extend their lead.
Both teams turned the ball over too much in this game. Perhaps the pressure on the virtual players caused them to play worse. Jokes aside, neither team actually scored much off turnovers, with the Thunder leading with 13 points.
The Thunder also converted more field goals, three-pointers, and free throws as they dominated in every category. Despite Indiana leading in time of possession, they were beat in almost every category tonight. While they earned more rebounds, they made little of the opportunities they had.
The game was still close until the very end. With 1:49 left, the Thunder only had a seven-point lead. But after SGA converted four straight free throws, they had a nine-point lead with just 50 seconds remaining. From there, OKC had an easy time of ending this series on the road.

With the win, the Thunder win their second championship as a franchise and their first since relocating to OKC. For the last decade or so, Thunder fans have seen numerous stars come and go. But despite all the talent, they were never able to win it all. But now, they can finally sit back and enjoy a long-deserved title.
Meanwhile, the Pacers' season comes to a heartbreaking end. They miss out on a chance to win their first NBA Finals and now head to the offseason. Despite upsetting the Cavaliers and beating the Knicks, Indiana's efforts were just short of winning it all. We'll see what they can do during the offseason to try and come back to this stage.
Depending on the real results of Game 6, this may be the last game of the 2024-2025 NBA Season. But should the Pacers win Game 6, then there will be one final game at the Paycom center in OKC. Any game now could be the last. Regardless, we look forward to seeing the final results this week.

Why Pacers think Jay Huff can help replace Myles Turner: 'When he got his opportunity, he really shined'
After Indiana lost Myles Turner to the Bucks, the Pacers committed to the idea of handling the center position "by committee," Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan told Alex Golden of "Setting the Pace" podcast. By the time the news of Turner's departure broke late morning on July 1, most of the players the Pacers could have had for the non-taxpayer mid-level exception had already signed elsewhere and the Pacers decided they didn't want to part with other key players to find a replacement for Turner. For now they're due to have four centers in training camp, having acquired Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies in a trade with a 2029 second-round draft pick and a 2031 swap of second round picks and having re-signed Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman. They also picked up the club option on Tony Bradley's deal and that works as sort of a backup plan. Buchanan said the Pacers had kept their eyes on Huff for years going back to his time at Virginia, Rick Carlisle's alma mater. The front office viewed him as a "borderline" NBA player but the team's analytics department liked his ability to step out and hit 3s and also block shots. They were more interested when he had an excellent performance in a G League playoff game for the Capital City Go-Go against the Mad Ants in 2022-23. They liked him even more after he shot 40.5% from 3-point range for the Grizzlies this season in his first year as an NBA rotation player. "Watching him in Memphis this year when he got this opportunity, he really shined," Buchanan said. "He had moments of running the floor, finishing lobs, shooting 3s, protecting the rim. ... We felt like what we were losing in Myles was what Jay provided." They were also excited about Jackson and Wiseman, who tore Achilles tendons in the first 10 days of last season and missed the rest of it. Jackson put needed upper body weight on while he was off his feet and the Pacers are hopeful that adds to his game. "We wanted him to add strength to that without losing some of that fast-twitch athleticism that was his greatest gift," Buchanan said. "He was starting to gain weight before the injury and then once you have a lower-body injury like that, you're very limited in what you can do cardio wise, lower-body wise, but there's not a lot of limitations in what you can do with your upper body and your core and he spent a lot of time focusing on that. He was probably up 25 pounds from what he was maybe a year prior. Now that he's gotten back on the court and doing a little more, it's started to come off a little bit, but I think his body is in a very good place right now as far as being able to withstand the physicality of playing more minutes." Buchanan said the Pacers were also impressed with Wiseman, who tore his Achilles in the season opener. The Pacers traded him to the Raptors in February to clear out a roster spot, which they eventually used to sign Bradley. The Raptors waived him, however, so he got to finish his rehab in Indiana, and the Pacers liked enough of what they saw to sign him to a new contract. Buchanan said his rehab is going so well that he could have played in NBA Summer League if the Pacers needed him to. "He's in a great spot physically," Buchanan said. Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Here, we take a look at Orlando Woolridge, a forward who played two seasons with the Lakers. He was the No. 6 pick in the 1981 NBA Draft after a relatively quiet four-year tenure at the University of Notre Dame. His one or two pro seasons were also relatively quiet, but by the 1983-84 campaign, he emerged as a legitimate scoring option. That year, he averaged 19.3 points a game, and the following season, he put up 22.9 points a game as a member of Michael Jordan's first supporting cast. But while the 6-foot-9 forward was an exciting and very athletic player who threw down show-stopping dunks, he didn't exactly have a positive reputation. He was regarded as someone who was more concerned with putting up big scoring games than helping his team win games. Even worse, he had a well-documented cocaine habit off the court. The Lakers brought him in as a free agent in the summer of 1988 after winning their fifth NBA championship of the decade. With fan favorite Kurt Rambis departing and big man Mychal Thompson starting to age, they needed a little more depth in the frontcourt. In two seasons with L.A., Woolridge registered 11.1 points in 21.4 minutes a game and shot 51.4% from the floor. The team reached the NBA Finals in 1989 after going undefeated through the first three rounds of the playoffs, only to be swept there by the Detroit Pistons after Byron Scott and Magic Johnson injured their hamstrings. The following year, they fell in the second round of the playoffs to the Phoenix Suns. In the summer of 1990, the Lakers traded Woolridge to the Denver Nuggets for two conditional second-round draft picks. He played four more seasons in the NBA with four different teams before finishing his basketball career in Italy.

James Johnson still wants to play, but Pacers roster is tight: 'Painful to think of our team without him'
James Johnson Jr. intends to return for a 17th NBA season and in a vacuum, the Indiana Pacers certainly would like to bring him back, but at the moment they don't appear to have a roster spot to do so. Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan told Alex Golden of "Setting the Pace" podcast he spoke to the 38-year-old last week and Johnson told him he still wants to play. The Pacers will look for opportunities to make it work, Buchanan said, but with all 15 standard contracts currently taken up it's not easy to see how it will. Johnson has been a critical piece of the Pacers' leadership, but he played in just 12 games last season and averaged 0.7 points per game. "Give him credit," Buchanan said. "He's embraced his role and has been outstanding for our team the last couple of years. He's like a family member to all of us because he's great with our players, he's great with our staff, he's great with our staff's families. My kids adore James like you wouldn't believe. Whether there's a roster spot for James, obviously Tyrese's injury creates a butterfly effect with what we have to plan on and how the roster fits together. Right now, it could be challenging to find a spot for James as much as we want him back. He's always going to have a special spot for us." The Pacers didn't have Johnson on the roster at the start of the 2023-24 season but signed him as a free agent in December of that year. They have had to waive him in the past to make room to acquire other players in trades but have brought him back each time, so there could be options down the road that allow him to return if they can't give him a contract to start the season. "It's painful to think of our team without him moving forward," Buchanan said. "It may be a reality because of our roster situation right now too. But that can still change."
