India is a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan; DPM calls for increasing Indian FDI
Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu affirmed India's role as a key strategic partner and outlined a vision to triple bilateral trade, expand energy and digital cooperation, and invite Indian investment in infrastructure and innovation during the Central Asia–India Business Council meeting on June 5 in New Delhi.
Nurtleu pointed to the potential to increase bilateral trade from $1 billion in 2024 to $3 billion in the near future and noted a 41% rise in Indian investments in Kazakhstan, which have exceeded $525 million, reported

'We consider this only as the beginning. Kazakhstan, as the largest economy in Central Asia and a transit hub between East and West, is ready to strengthen cooperation with India in areas such as trade, digital transformation, critical minerals, energy security, and humanitarian ties,' he said.

Nurtleu identified transport and logistical connectivity as a key area for cooperation, emphasizing the importance of developing international corridors, notably the North – South route and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, or the Middle Corridor. He invited the Indian side to participate in joint infrastructure projects, including multimodal routes, fiber-optic lines, and regional energy grids.
Kazakhstan also expressed its readiness to become a reliable supplier of strategic resources, including energy resources, rare earth metals, and agricultural products within the framework of India's Viksit Bharat (Developed India) initiative.

Tourism was noted as another promising area, with 150,000 Indian tourists visiting Kazakhstan in 2024. Growth was driven by a 14-day visa-free regime and direct flights between Almaty and New Delhi. Kazakhstan also expressed readiness to support the opening of hotels and restaurants serving Indian cuisine in key cities.
Nurtleu highlighted Kazakhstan's favorable investment climate, including a new 10-year 'golden visa' for investments over $300,000 and the role of the Astana International Financial Centre as a regional hub.
He proposed hosting the next business council session in Kazakhstan, expressing confidence in concrete business outcomes.

New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): India is expected to remain the fastest-growing economy among all the countries covered by global investment firm Morgan Stanley, according to the latest report from its Global Investment Committee (GIC). The report forecasts India's real GDP growth at 5.9 per cent on a Q4-over-Q4 basis in 2025 and 6.4 per cent in 2026. It stated, 'India remains the fastest growing economy in our coverage, with real GDP growth at 5.9 per cent, Q4/Q4 in 2025 and 6.4 per cent in 2026.' The Global Investment Committee is a group of experienced investment professionals from Morgan Stanley & Co. and Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. They meet regularly to assess developments in the global economy and financial markets. In its baseline outlook, the committee expects global economic growth to slow down significantly. Global real GDP growth is projected to decline from 3.5 per cent in 2024 to 2.5 per cent in 2025. The report noted that a trade shock is likely to affect multiple economies at the same time, pushing most of them below their potential growth levels. It stated, 'We anticipate global growth stepping down by a percentage point in 2025 from 2024, with US trade policy and the uncertainty it engenders serving as the main drivers.' In the United States, Morgan Stanley expects real GDP growth to fall from 2.5 per cent in 2024 to just 1.0 per cent in both 2025 and 2026. Similarly, in the eurozone, growth is not expected to rise above 1 per cent annually during the forecast period, due to weaker private consumption and exports. China's economy is also expected to slow down, with tariffs contributing to a reduction of about 0.5 percentage points in real growth in 2025 compared to 2024. The report forecasts China's real GDP growth at 4.0 per cent in 2025 and 4.2 per cent in 2026, with deflation remaining a concern. In Japan, the global trade shock is likely to affect exports, but consumer spending is expected to stay strong, helping nominal GDP continue to grow. Despite global challenges, the report sees some positive momentum across Asia Pacific and emerging markets through mid-2026. It maintains an overweight stance on India, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), driven by ongoing reforms and strong domestic growth trends. As per the report, while Indian equities are considered expensive when compared to historical levels but the strong domestic retail and institutional investment flows will support high valuations. The internet was quick to lash out at the congressman, from grilling him to digging up the family photos of his Indian-origin wife. Social media users also had questions for the congressman, as to how did he eat food items like pizza, fries and tacos if he disliked eating with his hands so much. "How do you eat hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, tacos, burritos, fried chicken, french fries, onion rings, and chicken wings ya racist ***? Ugly," a user wrote. A British-American journalist posted a family photo of Brandon Gill with his Indian-origin wife Danielle D'Souza Gill and her father Dinesh D'Souza. "Brandon Gill's father-in-law Dinesh D'Souza was born and raised in India and has definitely eaten with his hands. Is he going to ask his father-in-law to leave the US too?" he asked. Another picture is going viral on the internet, that shows Brandon Gill's in-laws sitting in a restaurant and posing for a photo. It shows food kept in front of them and pieces of what looks like a 'naan' in their hands. "If you're gonna be a giant racist douche against Indians, don't go marrying an Indian," a post that shared the picture said, slamming Brandon Gill. Gill's post, Indian-origin wife's defence Brandon Gill had made comments, which many termed "racist", against Zohran Mamdani, sharing a clip of him eating with his bare hands. "Civilized people in America don't eat like this. If you refuse to adopt Western customs, go back to the Third World," Gill wrote. Even as social media users used Brandon Gill's Indian-origin family ties to attack him for dissing Mamdani, the congressman's wife Danielle came forward in his support. 'I did not grow up eating rice with my hands and have always used a fork," she said in a post. Her post came after many users online drew parallels between what Gill said and Danielle's Indian heritage. They said many South Asian countries to eat with hands and that Gill's wife probably does too. "I was born in America. I'm a Christian MAGA patriot. My father's extended family lives in India and they are also Christian and they use forks too. Thank you for your attention to this matter," Danielle further wrote. Zohran Mamdani, son of Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair, is a 33-year-old self-declared socialist. He recently defeated former governor Andrew Cuomo in New York City's mayoral primary. If Zohran Mamdani wins, he would be New York's first Muslim mayor.

Bullet train in India: The upcoming Delhi-Ahmedabad train to pass through Rajasthan's 335 villages
India's much-awaited bullet train is soon going to become a reality. The much-anticipated high-speed rail project will pass through Rajasthan's seven districts under Delhi-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor. The train, when it starts, will cut travel time between Delhi and Ahmedabad from 14 hours to around 3 to 4 hours. In a recent update, the super-fast high-speed train will cover a distance of 657-kilometre stretch through the state. The train will pass through seven districts in Rajasthan and halt at nine selected stations en route. As per PTI report, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Minister of India, had earlier confirmed that a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Delhi-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor had been already prepared. The other routes for which survey and DPR were undertaken include Delhi-Varanasi, Mumbai-Nagpur, Mumbai-Hyderabad, Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysore, Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar, and Varanasi-Howrah.
