At Bezos' Venetian Wedding: Buzz, Bling and Backlash
On Friday, Venice's canals filled with polished motorboats bearing Hollywood stars, millionaires and Khloé Kardashian in a cape of pink feathers as they headed to Jeff Bezos' wedding to Lauren Sánchez.
On Saturday, it was the turn of dozens of public order police officers on foot, boats and water skis.
A day after Ms. Sánchez took to Instagram on Friday night to introduce herself to the world as Lauren Sanchez-Bezos, wearing a lacy white mermaid dress, Venice braced for protesters who threatened to descend again on the city to voice their anger over the wedding — and armed conflict around the world.
Despite his efforts to have a private if star-studded multimillion-dollar wedding in Venice, Mr. Bezos' wealth and powerful connections left the couple's thoroughly curated celebrations caught up in an intensely political and moral debate.
From Venetian bars to British newspapers and even among Italian politicians in Rome, the wedding became a topic of conversation, focusing not on the bride's outfits, but on Mr. Bezos' businesses, money and friends.
The result was an over-the-top party in one of the world's most stunning cities mixing Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Ivanka Trump and political overtones.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner Wear Opposing Chic Gowns in Venice
Sisters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner shared a weekend of glamour and couture in Venice, showcasing their unique eyes for style. As the youngest siblings of the Kardashian-Jenner crew, the two are often seen paired together over the years — posing at the Met Gala together, going on a sister beach vacation, and more. Over the weekend, the two made an appearance at the star-studded wedding celebrations in Italy for billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. While Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian were also present for the nuptials, Kendall and Kylie made their way onto a water taxi in their chicest, black tie wedding attire. Holding hands, the sisters made their way in two showstopping gowns with black sunglasses. Kylie Jenner wore a body-hugging, floor-length mermaid-style gown from designer Dilara Findikoglu. The silver corseted dress hugged her waistline into a perfect hourglass silhouette, with a low-cut neckline and cute little black bows adorned on the straps. The Kylie Cosmetics founder paired the outfit with diamond-studded earrings and swept her dark hair up into a loose updo. Kendall Jenner went in the opposite direction when it comes to color, instead opting for a black gown with a square neckline that flowed down to her feet. The dress came with a draped scarf of the same fabric that hung on her neck and down her back. She accessorized the look with a matching green statement necklace and earrings from designer Lorraine Schwartz. Kendall also wore her hair in a sweet updo with her bangs framing her face. Kylie Jenner's boyfriend and beloved actor Timothée Chalamet was not present for the big event, much to the disappointment of Kylie-Timmy stans. Instead, Kylie was spotted with her family for the wedding festivities, as the four sisters were shown throughout the week in Italy. They joined the long list of A-list guests who attended the Amazon founder's wedding, including Oprah, Sydney Sweeney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Usher, Orlando Bloom, and more.
