The 12 Best Summer Dresses For Bigger Busts - And The Bras To Wear With Them

Elle16-06-2025

There are few fashion obstacles as tricky, annoying or deflating than the search for a summer dress that accommodates a bigger bust. Sure, you can find one that reveals bra straps or offers a bulging cleavage, but that's not high up on most people's sartorial agenda when looking for a great dress that'll see you through the warmer months, whether for your day-to-day meanders or the holiday trunk. Trust me, I know.
As someone with a 32J chest and a penchant for a really great dress (I've not been spotted in trousers besides gym leggings and the occasional pair of jeans since 2012), I've come to know what brands, styles and fabrics work best for those of us with a fuller bust. But after much, much trial and error I've also learned which bras (yes, even a strapless option) work for my bust.
If my extensive searching (read: shopping) for dresses that fit and flatter has taught me anything it's that you always need to work with your own intuition. Brands rarely shoot their ecommerce or campaign imagery on models with a bigger bust so you have to use a little imagine to understand how it might work for you. You know your body and your boobs best, which is why you're better off not overlooking a dress you like the look of because it might not work. Try it on, maybe size up, and size up again and then get acquainted with your local tailor. There are of course styles and brands that work best. Think Reformation's bra-friendly edit or the generous proportions of M&S cotton.
Read on to find ELLE UK's edit of the best summer dresses for bigger busts and the best bras to wear them with.

The Princess Of Wales' Best Wimbledon Looks, As We Anticipate Her 2025 Appearances

The Princess of Wales never looks better (or more enthusiastic!) than during The Championships at Wimbledon. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, Kate Middleton has made her love of tennis known by turning up at the annual event year after year and usually a few times throughout the fortnight. She also saves her brightest, boldest colours for the tennis tournament, becoming a radiant presence in the Royal Box. British labels like Emilia Wickstead and Roksanda are amongst her favourites for the occasion, but so too is fashion-favourite Alessandra Rich. Her polka dot selections from the London-based Italian designer remain amongst the Princess' most well-lauded by fashion folk. What is most energising about the Princess at Wimbledon though is her reactions. While most Royal occasions call for steely disposition, Wimbledon sees her throw caution to the wind and move from spectated to spectator. We see wide smiles, hands on face, and as many 'oohs' and 'aahs' as you can imagine as the rallies only lengthen, her wide-rim sunglasses struggling to hide any favouritism. With the 2025 Championships beginning on 30 June, the world waits in anticipation to see the Princess traverse the steps into the Royal Box. Last year, following her cancer diagnosis and treatment, she was welcomed with a lengthy standing ovation. And the same sort of reaction could be anticipated for Wimbledon 2025, too. Will the Princess of Wales be at Wimbledon 2025? Certainly. It'll only be in the case of something truly remarkable that'll stop the tennis fan from attending (giving birth to the future King Prince George and a global pandemic putting a spanner in the works previously) and with it the promise of a new trunk of noteworthy summer looks, too. Until then, the Princess of Wales' best Wimbledon looks thus far. The Princess of Wales was greeted with a round of applause when she arrived in the Royal Box at Centre Court wearing a purple Safiyaa dress. She chose a green Roland Mouret dress to present Carlos Alcaraz with the winner's title. She chose sunshine yellow by Roksanda, a dress she wore first during a trip to the Caribbean. Her perfect blow dry was worn with a forest green Emilia Wickstead dress and white pumps. Attending with her husband, Prince William, Catherine looked especially fashion forward in a blue polka dot Alessandra Rich dress styled with slingback stilettos and a Mulberry bag. Catherine stepped onto Centre Court in baby blue Emilia Wickstead to give Novak Djokovic the winner's trophy. In 2021, she chose a blush pink Beulah dress. She chose a navy polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich for the final day of the 2022 Championships. A citrus Self-Portrait skirt suit for the thirteenth day of the 2023 Championships. She wore dark green Dolce & Gabbana dress with gold button detailing to watch the women's finals with her sister, Pippa Middleton, and sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Cambridge arrived with her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, in tow and wore a printed tea dress and carried a Dolce & Gabbana bag. Attending with her friends, Kate Middleton wore a brilliant white dress with a black cardigan. Freelancer

David Beckham pictured in hospital by Victoria Beckham: 'Get well soon daddy'

David Beckham is recovering after a surprising health scare. The former professional soccer player was photographed by wife Victoria Beckham with his right arm in a blue sling while lying in a hospital bed on the Spice Girls alum's Instagram story on Friday, June 27. The "Beckham" star was seemingly recovering from an injury in the snap. The British fashion designer captioned the photos, "Get well soon daddy" with a heart emoji. A fashion icon in his own right, the UNICEF global ambassador was pictured in a hospital gown as he sported a soft smile in his wife's picture. Beckham also shared another photo of her husband wearing a beaded friendship bracelet that spelled out "Get well soon." USA TODAY has reached out to the Beckhams' reps for comment. David Beckham to receive knighthood from King Charles III Earlier this month, the official British public record The Gazette announced the Inter Miami CF coowner would be knighted by King Charles III. Beckham, arguably the most famous athlete in England's history, finally earned his country's highest honor after years of near misses despite his legendary soccer career and extensive charity work with UNICEF. "I've heard people in the media talk about it's something that I really, really want, and of course, it would be an unbelievable honor," Beckham said in a recent interview with Time magazine. "If it happens at some point, amazing. If it doesn't, there's nothing I can do about it." In a heartfelt Instagram post June 14, Posh Spice praised her husband for his knighthood, one of the highest British honors to notable citizens. "You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir @davidbeckham!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you," she wrote. "Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered." She concluded the caption, "The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx." Contributing: Safid Deen

Aston Martin Unveils Ultra-Luxury Private Residence in Tokyo's Most Desirable Location

If the article detailing Aston Martin's residence tower in Miami left you wanting more, you're in luck! The British automaker recently revealed N°001 Minami Aoyama, Tokyo, its first ultra-luxury residence in Asia, and what a residence it is. Created in partnership with Japanese luxury real estate developer VIBROA Inc., the four-story residence is situated in Tokyo's Omotesandō neighborhood, a renowned shopping district located between Harajuku and Aoyama. Right away, the façade stands out thanks to its vertical metal louvers, whose appearances change as the sun rises and falls in the sky, reflecting off their surface. Glimpses of the interior can also be seen between the louvers. The first floor houses the spa facilities, including a sauna and spa bath with natural Hinoki timber cladding and a specially designed audio system. Right next door is a landscaped private terrace, with its own outdoor Onsen pool and seating. Oh, and about that audio system, the entire residence has a Bowers & Wilkins Audio System wired in, so your tunes can play in any room. The basement takes advantage of the site's sloping nature to house a gym, wine cellar, a golf simulator system, a private spa, and three en-suite bedrooms. The two-car garage, or "automotive gallery" as Aston Martin refers to it, features adaptive lighting and a wave-textured metal ceiling. The cars can also be from within the house, thanks to the glass panel that separates the garage from the lounge and meeting room on the ground floor. Natural light was reportedly a high priority when building the residence, and as you ascend to the rooftop terrace, the materials transition from dark to light "to mirror the journey towards the light." The terrace contains a kitchen facility, a section of planted green roof, and tremendous views of the Tokyo Tower. Oh, and speaking of that staircase, Aston Martin and VIBROA Inc. call it an "origami staircase," made from folded steel and illuminated by a pendant chandelier. The two companies also curated some very fitting Italian furniture for the residence, ranging from bespoke wardrobes to kitchen cabinets by Italian brand Molteni&C. The kitchen sports black lava stone surfaces and gray oak cabinetry, with "nebula steel" and pewter metal accents throughout. If you're worried that these are all off-the-shelf pieces, fret not, as reportedly many of the pieces were custom-designed under Aston Martin's direct supervision. I'm a design nerd, whether it's modern minimalism, 1970s kitsch, or everything in between. I was already entranced by Aston Martin's Miami residences, but their Japanese residence knocks it out of the park. It's clean, yet it doesn't feel empty. The various materials and colors used throughout, like the wood and dark metals, create a cozy, modern, and classy ambiance simultaneously. Aston Martin and VIBROA Inc. don't mention a price tag or owner, of course, but considering the prices of their Miami residences, and the fact that this was built as a private residence, it's probably a figure that us mere mortals can't comprehend.
