Comfortable weather for the weekend before summer-like weather returns
We started the weekend with some cloudy skies and rain showers to the south along the state line. Because of this, we had some drizzle down towards Hillsdale and Jackson this morning with decreasing clouds as you got closer to Lansing.
Today we see partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures a little cooler than where they should be only getting into the mid-70s area-wide. Clear skies stick with us tonight with temperatures into the low to mid 50s. So we have at least one more night of open windows before using the air conditioners through the upcoming work week.
Temperatures warm up for Father's Day into the low 80s with mostly sunny skies. We will also start to feel the heat and humidity increase as well. Overnight lows for Sunday remain in the upper 50s.
We start to feel like summer as we head into the upcoming work week with daytime highs into the low to mid 80s with dew points into the mid to upper 60s. Heading into mid-week showers and storms return for Tuesday with the best chance to see rain looking to be Wednesday. We are closely keeping an eye on the forecast for Wednesday as there is the potential for stronger storms. Keep checking back throughout the weekend and start of the work week for more information!

How altitude affects fireworks in Colorado
(COLORADO) — Fireworks hit differently here in Colorado, literally, and that's because of the altitude we experience here. Colorado's high elevation means the air is less dense. That lower density gives fireworks less air resistance and drag, so when they're launched, they travel higher and faster before bursting, which is pretty cool to see! But there's a flip side. With less oxygen in our atmosphere, fireworks don't burn as hot. And that can actually make the colors appear less vibrant. So while the show is still beautiful, the reduced burn temperature can slightly mute those bold reds and greens. That said, there's an upside to the altitude: better visibility. Fireworks set off at higher elevations can be seen from farther away, which is great news if you're watching from a distance or can't make it to the main event. No nudity, no snorkels & other Connecticut beach rules you may not know
CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — There are certain beach rules we all know- don't throw sand, stay off buoys, and be courteous to others. But, Connecticut has a few more you may not be as familiar with. Can your dog go to Connecticut beaches with you? The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's beach rules include: No alcoholic beverages No glass No pets (most of the time- see more) No nudity No flotation devices, only approved lifejackets No snorkels No rough play No sand or rock throwing No 'throw-catch' activities No soap or shampoo No fishing Keep the beach area around the lifeguard chair clear Swimmers must stay off buoys and lines Water and the beach will be cleared when lightning is visible or thunder is heard Officials also want you to drink responsibly if you consume alcohol before heading to the beach and parents should watch their children for lots of reasons, but especially for risk of drowning- which they say can occur silently. The pattern is not recent, with the first official sighting date in Colorado logged as July 8, 1905, although there are several entries below that in chronological order, but without official dates. The 1905 spotting was reported with information, including: Occurred: July 7, 1905. 5:30 a.m. Reported: Aug. 8, 2020. 11:16 a.m. Duration: 2 hours No. of observers: 1 Location: Guffey Shape: Triangle Each report contains a brief explanation of the events and an in-depth summary of the circumstances of the sighting. 'Lights over treeline, objects captured in photos and red spray or fumes being sprayed over the trees,' said the report. The most recent Colorado sighting occurred about two weeks ago. The sighting was reported with information, including: Occurred: June 22, 2025. 9:30 p.m. Reported: June 23, 2025. 4:34 p.m. Duration: Unsure how long No. of observers: 3 Location: Montrose Shape: Changing Color: Metal gray Viewed from: Land Angle of elevation: 45 degrees The report also contained a brief explanation of the event.
