Tech review: Gaming specialist unleashes OXS Storm wireless headphones
These headphones are the latest offering from gaming audio firm, OXS
OXS Storm wireless headphones
The gaming headphones industry is a fairly cluttered one, and also a very competitive one. Littered with big names and big players like Turtle Beach and Logitech - it's an established market and it's big business as gaming continues to accelerate.
Online gaming particularly continues to be a huge leisure activity, and any gamer worth their salt knows the importance of a good pair of headphones.
With that in mind, I tried out the Storm A2 headphones, the latest product from gaming audio experts, OXS. I have an OXS soundbar so I am well aware of their dedication to targeting gamers with high-end products.
The headphones look premium and have a decent build quality with metal around the cups and the headband. The ear cups themselves have memory foam lining, and the headband also has this on the underside, for comfort.
OXS Storm wireless headphones
The quality is decent and for what is essentially a middle of the road kind of price for a decent pair of gaming headphones, there certainly can't be too many complaints in terms of the build.
As with many headphones these days this pair fold away for storage and for travelling and can be reasonably compact in a carry case if needed.
They are pretty comfortable to wear, although I did test these out on the hottest couple of days of the year and it was a bit clammy because the ear pads to stick a bit. I expect on a cooler day i'd be a lot happier!
From a sound perspective, I thought these were up to the task in hand, switching modes gives you an extra bass boost and the Active Noise Cancellation, I have to say I found to be pretty effective.
The bass boost adds a bit of oomph to the sound and I'd suggest that using it is the best option, unless treble really is your thing.
I felt that with the bass kicked in, the headphones really enveloped your senses and got me hooked into what I was playing.
There's a lot of great bullet points to deliver, like a 70 hour battery life, super low latency to avoid lagging, and all the wireless connection options you could need.
It connects to all devices and consoles, other than Xbox. You can even connect to a mobile phone, should you so wish.
The rich, deep sounds of the headphones through the surround sound are perfect for gamers, allowing you to hear every noise and direction the game throws at you.
I had no issues with the mic, other than that it's very much pointed straight down like an arrow, so you need to train it to stay in place, which works after a while.
I liked the sound, and for what I need I was really impressed. It isn't the best sound I have heard, I have better general headphones. But for the price, I think they offer a decent degree of quality and satisfaction..
OXS Storm A2 Wireless Gaming Headset is available for £129.99 from Amazon.
Customer reviews
Amazon user: Ear cups are comfortable but after about an hour long online meeting, my left lobe felt sore. The cups are not big enough for my whole ear so they pretty much sit on top of my ears, which, for me, can be uncomfortable after a couple of hours.
Amazon user: It's about turning on surround mode. Just because it's turned on doesn't mean the sound field expands impressively, but it is said that when you turn it on, the sound comes forward, and anyway, it's such a good sound that I recommend turning it on all the time. The treble isn't bad either, but the volume is to such an extent that the midrange is particularly beautiful and not too loud.

Microsoft users warned passwords will be deleted for millions in a matter of day

If you've ever used Microsoft Authenticator to manage your passwords, it's time to export them or risk them being lost forever. The app is most commonly used for two-factor authentication, using face ID to log into email or company systems, for example. But the app, which has been downloaded over 100 million times on the Google Play store alone, was also used to store passwords with autofill until this month. Microsoft now says 'the password era is ending', urging people to turn to alternative ways of logging in, and saying the app will no longer support passwords. It's partly our fault, given we keep reusing pet names, swear words, 12345, and 'password' as not-so-foolproof keys to our kingdom. Before you panic that the company is removing support for passwords entirely across all its services, they're not – or at least, not yet. But they won't be letting you keep your list in the Authenticator app, and data will be deleted next month. If you want to keep using Microsoft to store passwords, you can use their Edge browser which will keep them all logged and ready. If you prefer a separate app so you can use passwords in Chrome, Safari, or another browser, it's time to export them so you still have access. June 2025: people were no longer able to save new passwords in Authenticator, and were shown a message warning them of coming changes. July 2025: you will not be able to use autofill with Authenticator. Payment information will be deleted. August 2025: your saved passwords will no longer be accessible in Authenticator and will be deleted. In a blog post in December last year, Microsoft said they block 7,000 attacks on passwords per second, 'almost double from a year ago', as well as an increase in phishing attacks to steal credentials by 146%. They said the reign of passwords is ending: 'Bad actors know it, which is why they're desperately accelerating password-related attacks while they still can.' They said the solution is passkeys, which 'offer an improved user experience by letting you sign in faster with your face, fingerprint, or PIN, but they also aren't susceptible to the same kinds of attacks as passwords'. If you prefer using Microsoft for your passwords, you can download the Edge app and then set it as your default password manager from Settings. In a support post, the company also set out steps you can take to export passwords to another app manager. More Trending They warned they will no longer be encrypted if you do this, so make sure to quickly delete the file after the passwords have been saved safely elsewhere. But you will need to do this before August 2025, as after this they will no longer be accessible, and any generated passwords not saved will be deleted. Review: Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer brings you the best of both worlds

Review: Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer brings you the best of both worlds Fryer can easily toggle between two compartments and one large cooking space The Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer It's been a few years since the UK went air fryer crazy and now they are commonplace in kitchens all over the country. However, you might well now be looking at the fryer you got in a rush when energy prices soared and thinking it might be time to upgrade. We've had two Cosori air fryers down the years and both were really solid devices, although neither met quite what we needed for a family of four. First off, we had a single air fryer which was great but only cooked one thing at a time. We then had a twin air fryer which solved that problem but the actual individual cooking spaces were smaller. And now we were lucky enough to try out the Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer which promises the best of both worlds. It's a twin fryer that you can easily toggle between two compartments and one large cooking space. Perfect. The Twinfry is at the top of the Cosori range and is priced accordingly but you should be able to get a decent deal at the moment. Looks-wise, it's the usual dark grey/black from Cosori but the form factor is sleeker. All the controls and readouts you need are on the top, although there is more than one way to skin that particular rabbit. You get one large basket that can be split into two using a silicone provider. Another selling point is that there are elements top and bottom, which means better cooking consistency and lets you get on with something else while your food cooks. The usual sync and match functions further simplify the cooking process, allowing you to synchronise cooking times between the two chambers or replicate favourite settings with ease. The Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer As well as air frying, you can also roast, bake, grill, reheat, and dry your meals so there is plenty of functionality at your fingertips. A first for any Cosori I've tried you can also control the air fryer via a mobile app. You can even set time and temperature, and it comes with a bunch of built-in recipes which we found extremely useful. We didn't run into any problems with the usual chicken bites, fries and sausages we normally rustle up during the week, but what we really wanted to try - now we had the space - was to cook up an entire roasty chicken (with a few veggies thrown in). I'm happy to report we managed it, and the results were excellent. I'm now thinking we're close to retiring the cooker altogether! Cleaning the basket and divider is very simple, but do keep in mind that because it's so large you might have an issue if you have a little sink. All in all, we'd heartedly reccommend the Twinfry to anyone who has many mouths to feed. it's a great mix of flexibility, ease-of-use and practicality. The Cosori Dual Blaze Twinfry 10 Litre Air Fryer is currently available via Amazon for £227.33. What users say "Easy to use, love the quality, requires little to no oil at all depending on the food. Looks great and takes up such a small amount of room with vents pointing up rather straight to the wall behind. Barely costs any energy to make a meal." "This is a great product. Had Corsair air fryer before this one and I thought that was good but this is even better. With the division it enables you to cook different foods at the same time at various timings" Alternatives Article continues below Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer Air Fryer Duronic AF34 BG Triple Drawer 10L Digital Air Fryer

6 things you should buy, and 4 you definitely shouldn't, during Prime Day this year

Finding a worthwhile deal on Prime Day can be a 'you know it when you see it' situation. But as someone who's covered Amazon's mega sale for six years, I guarantee that there's a method to the madness more often than not. Certain categories historically offer stronger discounts than others, and identifying what they are before you start shopping can help you maximize your budget. 'This is the kind of shopping moment that rewards strategy and precision, not impulse buying,' says Stephanie Carls, a shopping expert at RetailMeNot. 'It's about knowing what's worth it and intentionally buying when the savings are the strongest and the deals are stacked in your favor.' Using my expertise about Amazon's biggest sale of the year (both as a reporter and Prime member), I put together this guide to help you plan your shopping for the four-day event that starts on Jul. 8. Experts also weighed in about what to buy and skip, and shared tips for saving money. You can apply their advice to early Prime Day deals, too, which are live right now. Want more from NBC Select? Sign up for our newsletter, The Selection, and shop smarter. If you're narrowing your shopping list, focus on the categories below to save the most money. There are various reasons why Amazon hosts Prime Day, but experts say a big one is to sell products from its brands, including Echo, Ring, Blink, Kindle and Amazon Basics. Expect to see many of these brands' products marked down to their lowest price ever and bundles that let you buy and save on a few that work together. While electronics from Amazon-owned brands are typically discounted the most on Prime Day, plenty of other tech brands slash prices on their gadgets, including Apple, FitBit, Samsung and Sony, says Carls. Focus on items like headphones, Bluetooth speakers, portable chargers, laptops, tablets and e-readers, and smart home devices like indoor and outdoor security cameras, doorbells, garage openers, lights and plugs. Prime Day is not ideal for buying a refrigerator or washing machine. Instead, prioritize small home and kitchen appliances like air purifiers, vacuums and fans, as well as air fryers, blenders and toaster ovens. 'Top brands like Instant Pot, Ninja, Keurig and Vitamix are deeply discounted and they rarely go on sale outside of major events,' says Carls. Apparel deals often fly under the radar during Prime Day, but they're plentiful, says Carls. Amazon's in-house brands tend to be discounted the most, like The Drop, Amazon Essentials, Goodthreads and Core 10, and you'll see promotions at Shopbop and Zappos since the retailer owns both companies. That said, many other clothes, shoe and accessory brands offer great deals, so keep an eye out, especially if you're looking for basics like white T-shirts, activewear like leggings, sports bras and running shoes, and summer items like sunglasses, bathing suits and shorts. Prime Day is an opportunity to get a head start on back-to-school shopping, which more people have been taking advantage of recently. This year, 24% of parents with grade-school children and 20% of parents with college students plan to shop for school supplies during Amazon's mega sale, according to a survey from RetailMeNot. Vipin Porwal, the CEO and a consumer savings expert at Smarty, recommends looking for savings on items like backpacks and lunchboxes, as well as dorm essentials and school-related tech. You can store everything you need for school, work or travel inside this backpack, which has numerous interior and exterior pockets, as well as a dedicated compartment for your laptop. The backpack's padded shoulder straps make the bag comfortable to wear, and it has reflective elements so people can always see you in low light. Before Prime Day starts, walk around your home and take inventory — are you running low on any essentials? Name-brand laundry detergent, dog food, pantry staples, toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels and more are all on sale during the event, and since you'll need them eventually, you may as well buy them at a discounted price. There are 28 AA alkaline batteries in this pack, which is resealable. If they're unused, you can store the batteries for up to 12 years and they won't decline in performance, according to the brand. While you'll see TVs and gaming-related products on sale during Prime Day, don't buy them just yet, says Carls. There are better discounts and bundles closer to the holidays, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Porwal also recommends waiting until Labor Day to purchase furniture, as well as large home and kitchen devices. Three-day holiday weekends are known for their discounts on these types of items, so hold off until Labor Day deals start in mid-August. Amazon isn't the only one hosting a mega sale in the next few days. Savings events are happening at retailers like Target, Walmart and Nordstrom, too. Some attempt to beat Prime Day pricing on select items, while others compete by offering discounts on different types of products. Additionally, many brands are extending their Fourth of July offers online in hopes of Prime Day shoppers spilling onto their sites. Here are a few Prime Day-adjacent sales to know about. Target Circle Week is from Jul. 6 to 12 and is only open to Target Circle members. You can join the loyalty program for free. Target tends to offer strong deals on home, fashion and personal care products, especially if they're from brands it owns, says Carls. The retailers' tech deals are usually on par with Amazon's during Prime Day, but it sometimes throws in bundles or gift card bonuses that add up to more savings. Home Depot and Lowe's often have sales around Prime Day, allowing shoppers to save on patio furniture, home improvement supplies and tools. These are items Amazon doesn't have an extensive inventory of. Go in with a plan: Do your homework, says Carls — set a budget and list everything you want to buy ahead of time. 'The best approach is to shop with a plan,' she says. 'It's easy to get caught up in big sale moments, but the real value comes when you buy things you already need, at the right time, with the right offer attached.' Download the Amazon app and turn on notifications: If you add items to your watchlist before Prime Day, the app notifies you when prices drop so you can jump on them. Shop Lightning Deals: Lightning Deals only run for a few hours, and there's limited inventory available — once the product sells out or the deal expires, it's gone for good. Lightning Deals are some of the most lucrative discounts brands offer during Prime Day, so pay close attention to them. New offers drop as often as every 10 minutes. Checkout ASAP: Many items discounted on Prime Day are overstock merchandise that brands want to clear out while they have a massive audience, says Porwal. They list items at historically low prices to move inventory quickly, so if you like something, act quickly. Also, the stronger the discount, the more likely it is to be time-sensitive, and popular products from brands like Apple, Dyson and Sony commonly sell out. Pay extra attention to featured sales: Deals advertised front-and-center on Amazon's website and in its app are typically some of the strongest. 'These sellers pay a premium to Amazon to feature their best products, which will likely be available in shorter time frames and at some of their lowest prices ever,' says Porwal. Browse for new deals daily: This year's longer Prime Day timeline gives brands more room to roll out deals in phases. Expect to see new deals drop every day, as well as potential restocks, says Carls. Be wary about unverified sellers: If you're unfamiliar with a brand or seller, and the product isn't something you really need, sometimes the savings aren't worth the risk, says Porwal. Use price trackers: Those like CamelCamelCamel help you evaluate an item's price history, which lets you determine if it's really a good deal or just temporarily marked down from an inflated baseline, says Carls. Compare prices: An item's Prime Day price is almost always the lowest across retailers, especially because your purchase ships free. But it's always a good idea to compare prices before you check out just in case, says Porwal. Familiarize yourself with return policies: Amazon doesn't have a special return policy for Prime Day purchases, but you know how long you have to return an item if needed. In response to the 10% tariff on all countries that's been in effect since April, some brands have already raised prices on their products. Experts say this trend will continue, especially because the 90-day pause on higher reciprocal tariffs ends in a few days. But that doesn't mean Prime Day deals will be weaker this year, experts say. Some brands are increasingly leaning into deals to drive sales before higher costs force price adjustments later. 'For shoppers, this might be the right moment to buy higher-priced items that could become more expensive in the fall,' she says. While deals won't necessarily be weaker during Prime Day 2025, how brands present them might look a little different, says Carls. Expect blanket markdowns, like 30% off every single product a company sells on Amazon, and more curated promotions, meaning a few deeply discounted items. Some brands will also opt for time-sensitive deals rather than keeping products on sale for all four days of the event.
