Sitaare Zameen Par box office Day 7: Film nears ₹100 crore with solid run
Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par has closed its first week at the box office on a strong note, earning an estimated ₹85.03 crore in India. Released on June 20, the sports comedy-drama has shown solid traction despite not following the usual commercial action-masala template.
The film, which spotlights specially-abled children, has received widespread praise for its emotional depth and performances. Featuring ten debutant child actors — all specially-abled — the film adds a layer of authenticity to its storytelling. The cast includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
Sitaare Zameen Par box office collections Day 7
On Day 7 (June 26), Sitaare Zameen Par added approximately ₹2.63 crore (net) to its India earnings, with the figures expected to surge by evening. While weekday dips are expected, the film's consistent hold reflects a positive word-of-mouth wave that has fuelled its performance across regions and languages.
The film had already crossed ₹82 crore within the first six days and has now surpassed ₹132 crore in worldwide gross collections. Of this, ₹33.4 crore came from overseas markets, helping it comfortably breach the ₹100 crore global milestone — a notable achievement for a content-driven film in 2025.
Audience engagement and occupancy trends
In terms of audience engagement, the film recorded a Hindi-language occupancy rate of 10.89% on Day 7, with peak attendance during afternoon shows. The Tamil and Telugu versions also saw respectable turnouts, with occupancy exceeding 14% in some territories. Cities like Jaipur, Chennai, and the NCR region emerged as strongholds, particularly in late evening shows.
Sitaare Zameen Par: Second weekend outlook
As Sitaare Zameen Par enters its second week, it will face fresh competition from Kajol's upcoming horror-thriller Maa, set to release this Friday. However, given its steady weekday performance, strong reviews, and broad emotional appeal, the film is expected to remain a box office favourite in the days ahead.
Sitaare Zameen Par: About the film
Directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced under Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, supported by Brijendra Kala and Dolly Ahluwalia. The film marks a return to socially relevant cinema for Khan, whose past blockbusters like Dangal and Ghajini leaned more towards mass-market appeal.
With its unique blend of heartwarming moments and underdog sports drama, Sitaare Zameen Par has struck a chord with audiences of all ages — proving once again that strong storytelling can shine at the box office, even in a post-pandemic landscape dominated by spectacle-driven films.

Aamir Khan revisits Bollywood's underworld era: When he got an invite from someone dangerous
Aamir Khan has opened up about a disturbing chapter from the peak of his early stardom, when the Bollywood industry was grappling with underworld influence during the 1990s. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, the actor shared how he was approached multiple times by individuals linked to the underworld, who insisted he attend a party in the Middle East — likely in Dubai. Despite repeated offers of money and assistance, Khan stood firm in his refusal. Back then, Aamir had established himself as a major name in Hindi cinema following the success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988. But his rising fame also attracted the attention of some dangerous individuals. Without naming anyone, he said that some men approached him on a film set and later tried several times to convince him to attend the overseas gathering. Firm Refusal Despite Pressure Khan recalled that these individuals first offered financial incentives, along with promises to help with any professional need. When that didn't work, the tone shifted. According to the actor, the group eventually told him that his appearance had already been announced, making it a matter of prestige. However, Khan continued to decline. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tiger reunites with the zookeeper after 5 years. Fear for Family's Safety While Aamir maintained a courageous front during the confrontation, he admitted he was deeply afraid at the time. What troubled him most was the safety of his family. He had two young children then, and his parents were deeply concerned for his well-being. Still, he remained steadfast in his decision, telling them that he simply wanted to live life on his own terms. At the time, he was married to Reena Dutta, with whom he had two children — Junaid and Ira. Their safety weighed heavily on his mind, but he did not allow fear to dictate his choices. Career Then and Now Aamir Khan also reflected briefly on his career, addressing a common debate around his 2007 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. While Amol Gupte was the creative director who developed the concept, Khan explained that he eventually took over the direction himself after being dissatisfied with some of the filmed footage. He affirmed that he fully helmed the final version of the film. Currently, Aamir is enjoying the success of Sitaare Zameen Par, which has crossed ₹100 crore in India and earned over ₹160 crore globally. It has become one of the year's highest-grossing Hindi films. He is also producing Lahore 1947, a period drama directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starring Sunny Deol and others. Additionally, he will make a cameo appearance in Coolie, a film led by Rajinikanth, which he agreed to join purely out of admiration for the legendary actor.

Bollywood Golden Era star earned more than Dilip Kumar, said no to becoming Dev Anand's wife, received Jawaharlal Nehru's praise; only to quit films at 34
Much before pay parity became a topic of discussion among leading female actors, the Hindi film industry witnessed the rise of superstar Suraiya, who left legendary stars like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, and Ashok Kumar behind when it came to remuneration. While Suraiya was known for her roles in films like Omar Khayyam (1946), Pyar Ki Jeet (1948), Badi Behan (1949), and Dillagi (1949), which took her career to new heights, she didn't initially enter the film industry to become an actor. Instead, she was first recognised by music director Naushad for her beautiful voice, which led to many playback singing offers. It all started when Suraiya was just 12 years old and would frequently visit film sets with her uncle. During one such visit to the set of Taj Mahal, she was picked by the director to play the role of young Mumtaz Mahal. After starring in several children's programmes for All India Radio, Suraiya's singing talent was discovered by Naushad, who gave her a chance to sing in the film Sharda (1942) for the legendary actor Mehtab. She soon became synonymous with musicals like Phool, Samarat Chandragupta, Aaj Ki Raat, Dard, Dillagi, Natak, Afsar, Kajal, Dastan, Sanam, and Char Din. Suraiya was a huge admirer of Hollywood heartthrob Gregory Peck and got a chance to meet him when he visited India. It all began in 1952 when Suraiya gave her autographed photo to Hollywood director Frank Capra—who was visiting India during the first International Film Festival of India—to pass on to Gregory Peck. The Hollywood actor received the photo and made it a point to visit Suraiya when he came to India. He went to Suraiya's home in Mumbai and the two chatted for an hour. Speaking about the meeting, she had said, 'We spoke for an hour. I didn't sleep at all that night. Nobody believed I'd met him. For two months newspapers carried our 'love stories'. I enjoyed it!' At the peak of her professional career, Suraiya fell in love with Dev Anand, with whom she starred in seven films. He even borrowed money to buy her a diamond ring. At that time, Suraiya was a bigger star than Dev Anand, and since he was also a Hindu, Suraiya's maternal grandmother didn't approve of their relationship. Suraiya's grandmother controlled her life and her career. She even threw the ring Dev Anand bought for her into the sea and instructed filmmakers to cut the romantic scenes between them. Dev Anand wanted to marry Suraiya and even quit acting, which wasn't acceptable to her, so they eventually parted ways. However, the relationship had such a deep impact on Suraiya that she never married. Dev Anand, meanwhile, married Kalpana Kartik in 1954. 'When I refused to marry Dev, he called me a coward. Maybe I was one. I admit I didn't have the courage to take a step I was not absolutely sure of. Perhaps it was a folly, perhaps a mistake or perhaps destiny?' Suraiya told Stardust. After her breakup with Dev Anand, Suraiya's professional career also took a hit. Her films in the 1950s didn't perform well. However, she did experience a brief resurgence with her Mirza Ghalib in 1954, which was a huge hit. She even earned praise from Jawaharlal Nehru, who told her, 'Tumne Mirza Ghalib kii ruuh ko zindaa kar diyaa (You brought Mirza Ghalib's soul alive)'. But her 1964 film Rustam Sohrab, co-starring Prithviraj Kapoor, turned out to be a major flop. Witnessing the curtain fall on her career, Suraiya took voluntary retirement in 1963 and stepped away from the limelight. She was never seen on the big screen again and also did not return to playback singing. She passed away in 2004 due to health-related issues.
