Two dogs with ‘unshakable' bond need a home — together. Meet the ‘perfect pair'

Two dogs with an 'unshakable' bond need a new home — together.
'We're looking for a forever foster home — a sanctuary where Bentley and Mimi can rest, play, and be loved for the rest of their days,' a South Carolina-based animal rescue wrote July 1 on Facebook. 'You'll have full support from the rescue, including covering medical expenses. What we need from you is simply love, patience, and a safe place for them to land.'
Bentley and Mimi are waiting for a fresh start in a foster home that can provide hospice care. The 9-year-old French bulldogs live in Winterville, North Carolina, a roughly 85-mile drive southeast from Raleigh.
Black Tie Boston Rescue, which helps Boston terriers and other breeds, said the two dogs ended up in its care in early May. They had lived in a home with another Frenchie when their family moved, turning their lives 'upside down.'
'Their younger brother — healthy and carefree — was adopted quickly into a new, loving home,' Megan Davis, director and foster coordinator for the rescue, told McClatchy News via email.
'But Mimi and Bentley, the bonded seniors of the bunch, stayed behind. Not because they aren't amazing (because they absolutely are). Not because they're not friendly, sweet, or easy to love (they are all of those things). But because they came with something their brother didn't: time-earned medical needs and a love so deep that they must stay together.'
Mimi is described as a 'beautiful spirit with a soulful gaze from her one precious eye.' The charming pup receives medication and injections to help her manage Addison's disease, a hormone-related condition.
Bentley, who enjoys taking walks and chewing on bones, 'recently had a mast cell tumor removed from his face. We fear cancer may still be looming, but he continues to show up every day with a wiggle in his walk and love in his heart,' the rescue wrote in its social media post and email.
Davis said the two dogs often are found playing and cuddling together, making them the 'perfect pair.' As of July 3, Bentley and Mimi were still waiting to get a second chance in foster care.
'These two are a bonded pair, full of life, love, and loyalty,' rescuers wrote. 'Due to their age and medical needs, we don't want to see them adopted and lost to us — we want to keep them close and ensure they always have the care they need.'
The rescue is based in Little River, near Myrtle Beach. Details about the animal organization's foster program can be found at blacktiebostonrescue.org.

4 common food types can make you smell bad — here's what to avoid

Topics like 'old people smell' and 'Ozempic smell' have recently circulated on social media, sparking a renewed focus on how people's bodies react to and produce scents. Many foods (and not just garlic) can impact the way someone smells — but there are ways to mitigate the effects through dietary choices, according to experts. Advertisement 'Some foods impact body odor more than others,' New Jersey-based dietitian Erin Palinski-Wade told Fox News Digital. Research shows that body odor is influenced by each person's skin bacteria and how it breaks down sweat, according to the expert. Below are some of the most common foods that can impact one's scent. Fish 6 Foods can impact the way you smell, and experts say there are dietary choices you can make to combat this. – Advertisement We're all familiar with the 'fishy' smell of seafood, but it can also change the way people smell to others. In very rare cases, the body converts a seafood byproduct called choline into a fishy-smelling compound called trimethylamine, according to Cleveland Clinic. 6 The body converts seafood byproduct choline into a fishy-smelling compound called trimethylamine. Sea Wave – This compound travels throughout the body and is released through the breath and skin. Advertisement People with this affliction, called trimethylaminuria, may also produce a fishy odor after eating other foods, including beans, broccoli, cauliflower, peanuts and soy products. 'But this incredibly rare condition affects only a few hundred individuals, and most people will be able to eat fish without concern,' states Cleveland Clinic's website. Vegetables While vegetables are widely regarded as some of the healthiest food choices, they can cause an unexpected odor for some. 6 According to Cleveland Clinic, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussels sprouts can cause body odor when they release sulfuric acid. The scent is then intensified by sweat, breath and gas. Spices 'Some spicy foods are known to increase body odor due to their sulfur-containing compounds and specific metabolites,' Palinski-Wade told Fox News Digital. 'When they are released, they interact with skin bacteria, resulting in specific odors.' 6 'Some spicy foods are known to increase body odor due to their sulfur-containing compounds and specific metabolites,' dietitian Erin Palinski-Wade said. Angelina Zinovieva – Cleveland Clinic notes that spices like curry and cumin contain 'volatile compounds' that are absorbed by the bloodstream and released through the sweat glands, 'leading to a distinct odor.' Red meat Eating larger amounts of red meat can also impact body odor, according to Palinski-Wade. 6 Red meat's odorless proteins can mingle with skin bacteria, causing odor to intensify. Foods to improve body odor Advertisement Not all people will experience the same food-related body scents, as genetic differences impact the type and intensity of odors that may come from eating certain foods, experts noted. 6 'You may be able to improve body odor by reducing sulfur-rich foods, cutting down on red meat or excessively spicy foods, and increasing your intake of water, fruits and vegetables,' Palinski-Wade said. Peruphotoart – Making certain changes to your diet can help to reduce or prevent body odor, according to Palinski-Wade. 'You may be able to improve body odor by reducing sulfur-rich foods, cutting down on red meat or excessively spicy foods, and increasing your intake of water, fruits and vegetables,' she advised. Advertisement Foods like apples, leafy greens, yogurt and green tea may help to neutralize odor-causing compounds and support beneficial gut bacteria, which can reduce unpleasant body odors, said Palinski-Wade. Beyond diet, one of the best ways to improve overall body odor is to bathe regularly, the above source stated. Using antibacterial soap and wearing breathable fabrics can also be effective. 'Staying well-hydrated and focusing on supporting metabolic health by improving quality sleep, reducing stress and staying active can all help to improve overall body odor,' Palinski-Wade added.

This French Moisturizer Is Great For Sensitive Skin

As much as I love luxury skin care goodies, there's nothing quite like finding affordable beauty products that are as effective as they are budget-friendly. And while usually this means scouring the internet and doing a lot of trial-and-error, there's one cult-fave moisturizer that is hiding in plain sight at most major retailers — La Roche-Posay Toleraine Dobule Repair face cream. Boasting 4.6 out of 5 stars and a whopping 42,071 5-star reviews at Amazon, this French pharmacy staple is one of the internet's true hidden gems. It retails for just under $24, so there's really no reason to not try it at least once. As one reviewer put it: 'Do not buy this... unless you want your skin to be AMAZING!' This simple moisturizer is great for all skin types thanks to a nourishing oil-free formula powered with effective active ingredients that won't make your skin feel greasy or cause breakouts. It's also an excellent option for those with dry, irritated skin. It harnesses the power of ceramides, niacinamide, prebiotic thermal water and glycerin to drench your skin in long-lasting hydration and antioxidants without clogging pores. According to the brand, it helps to restore the skin's natural moisture barrier within just an hour of use and was formulated with sensitive, reactive skin in mind. HuffPost Shopping writer (and beauty devotee) Tessa Flores is a fan and recommends this cream. 'It's definitely hydrating, which is honestly just my main goal when it comes to moisturizers, and non-irritating. It's also more lightweight feeling and soaks in well compared to other La Roche-Posay moisturizers I've tried, which feel kind of balmy. This doesn't feel like that, so anyone who's really opposed to that feeling will probably prefer this,' she said. The cult-favorite La Roche-Posay moisturizer is the ideal everyday cream for people of all ages, and is even available with SPF for anyone who wants extra protection from the sun's UV rays. It's light enough to layer on over other skin care products and acts as a nice base for makeup. Many reviewers made mention of the fact that it leaves skin feeling soft, silky and smooth — even moreso than other more expensive options. It splits the difference beautifully between a mattifying and overly dewy finish, which is why it works so well with so many different skin types. Find out why everyone loves this Amazon bestseller and pick one up for yourself. You can't go wrong with this easy moisturizer that's suitable for just about everyone. Get it from Amazon for $23.99+ (available in two sizes, with or without SPF, and in a two-pack).
