Harry Brook
has blamed the Indian team for the on-field tensions that escalated during the Lord's Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, calling out India's approach towards Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett late on Day 3 as the moment that lit the fuse.
India, who were racing against time for another over before Stumps, were seen accusing Crawley of time-wasting. The tension flared when Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj confronted Crawley, while Gill also got into a heated moment with Duckett.
Brook, speaking ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester, said the Indian players provoked the situation.
'Yeah, we saw them guys going at Creeps (Zak Crawley) and Ducky (Ben Duckett), so we had a little chat and we thought we were a team, so we may as well combine with each other, get together and yeah, go back in there,' Brook told reporters.

India eventually folded in their second innings, failing to chase 193 as England took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The atmosphere remained charged, especially on Day 4, when England's Brydon Carse and captain Ben Stokes responded aggressively - Carse exchanged words with Akash Deep.
Asked whether the aggressive reaction was good for the game, Brook said the public reaction was overwhelmingly positive.
'I've had a lot of compliments, everybody said that it was awesome to watch and it looked like there was 11 versus 2 out there and we're fielding and it was good fun.
It was good fun. It was tiring, but yeah, it was good. It made fielding a lot more enjoyable,' he said.
During the game, England batter Ben Duckett also took aim at Gill when he came out to bat, saying, "600 runs and he is done for the series. 600 runs is enough for this fella."

Brook maintained that England were mindful of the line, but India's response nudged them to respond.
'Yeah, absolutely. And we'd try and play in the spirit of the game as much as possible. And like you said, them lads went hard and Creeps and Ducky on that night when they bowled that single over. So we watched that and we reassessed and we thought it was the right time to go back at them,' he added.

Shardul Thakur says getting limited overs affecting ‘rhythm', concedes how much he bowls is captain Shubman Gill's call

Fast-bowling All-rounder Shardul Thakur admitted that being sparingly used as a bowler in the ongoing fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy affects his rhythm but conceded that how much he bowls — and when — is a call only captain Shubman Gill can make. Thakur, who returned to the side for the Old Trafford Test scored a crucial 41 runs in India's first innings. However, he bowled only five of the 46 overs on Day 2. England ended the day at 225/2, trailing India by 133 runs. In the five overs he bowled, Thakur gave away 35 runs at 7 an over. When asked about his limited contribution with the ball after the end of the day's play, Thakur said the decision rests with captain Gill. 'Giving bowling is the captain's call. Not in my hands. The captain decides when to give them,' Thakur said. The Mumbai all-rounder insisted he could have bowled two more overs on Thursday. 'But that is the captain's call. It is difficult to find rhythm but I try and use my experience,' Thakur added. Thakur said that England scored 'a lot of runs in the first 10-12 overs' and 'after that, we were trying to pull it back'. 'And, you know, runs kept flowing. We know a lot of times when the sun is out here, the runs are being scored at a good rate. And when the conditions are overcast, the ball does a lot. And then it just becomes difficult to score,' he said. The decision to give him only five overs baffled former India offie R Ashwin. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said India could have included left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing 11 if Thakur was going to be used in a limited role. Ashwin said: 'If you are only planning to give Shardul Thakur this many overs, and expect 20-30 runs from him. I love Shardul Thakur, I like him a lot, but if this is the usage point, why can't you consider Kuldeep Yadav? It is just blowing my head away. I know it seems against the grain because it is three spinners, but it is not that way, Jadeja is a specialist batter for you now. Washington Sundar is also batting well. When your bowlers can bat so well, why are you not bringing an attacking bowler? Today, Jassi was bowling, and after that, it looked like India had no other options to take a wicket.'

Shardul Thakur opens up on being under bowled, gives inside details on Rishabh Pant With his place under scrutiny, India captain Shubman Gill made the call to leave him out for the fourth Test. Three changes were made to the playing XI. Anshul Kamboj was handed a Test debut, while Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur were also included. Sudharsan replaced Karun, and Shardul came in for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was ruled out due to a left knee injury. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif criticised Gill for not backing Nair at a crucial juncture. 'Today was Shubman Gill's chance to back Karun who was down but deserved one more chance. He should have picked Karun Nair. Chance missed to earn the respect when it comes to making tough decisions as a leader,' Kaif posted on X.
