STRASBOURG — Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed that what is happening in Gaza is inconsistent with international law, especially given the ongoing violations in the West Bank. He emphasized that Palestinians, like all peoples, deserve their right to freedom, sovereignty, and the establishment of their independent state.
During a speech he delivered before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, he pointed out that Israel's expansion of its attack to include Iran threatens people everywhere.
King Abdullah II said: 'The world is experiencing wave after wave of unrest without respite. It is no wonder that we feel that our world has become uncontrolled, as if it has lost its moral compass.' He added, 'True security lies not in the strength of armies, but in the strength of shared values. Peace imposed by force or fear will never last.'

During the meeting, the Ministry of Energy and UNEP signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate under the Regional Cooperation for Emissions Reduction Initiative. The agreement aims to support MENA countries in achieving their climate goals by promoting clean energy technologies and developing relevant policy frameworks to advance climate action. The MoU reflects shared goals to enhance resource efficiency and lower carbon emissions through a comprehensive, balanced and sustainable approach. Areas of cooperation include policy research and recommendations, partnerships with international organizations, participation in climate and CCE-related events, exchange of knowledge and best practices, and the development of climate policy frameworks, supported by regional and global climate networking activities.

Saudi Arabia and China sign executive program to strengthen cultural collaboration
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Culture and the China-Arab Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Research Center signed on Sunday an executive program aimed at further strengthening collaboration between Saudi Arabia and China in the cultural field. The executive program was signed by Deputy Minister for Research and Cultural Heritage Affairs Dr. Maha Abdullah Alsenan, and Vice President of Beijing International Studies University and Member of the Joint Committee of the China-Arab Research Center for Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Cheng Wei in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture in Diriyah. The executive program, taking place in parallel with the 2025 Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year, reinforces joint efforts in cultural areas. Under the program, the two sides will jointly carry out research projects to enhance the quality of cultural research submitted and collaborate to identify and compile cultural content related to each country held in national archives. In addition, the Ministry of Culture will collaborate with the Chinese side to hold joint conferences and support mutual visits and exchanges between cultural researchers from both countries to discuss common cultural issues. The program also includes support for research exchange operations, facilitating visits by Saudi researchers to Chinese universities and research centers, as well as by Chinese researchers to Saudi universities and research centers. It provides both sides with specialists in cultural fields, offers support in the research fellowship program, and provides consultative support. EU Must Take Strong Response against Israel: EX-Foreign Policy Chief
The EU's former Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell, stated that the bloc must take a more assertive stance against Israel that has been violating the international law in its war on Gaza, according to Arab News. In an article for Foreign Affairs magazine, Borrell stressed that the EU has a 'duty' to intervene over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Authors' Suggestions Both authors said that Europe's conflicting response to Gaza's humanitarian crisis can be partly explained by the hesitation of some countries such as Germany, Hungary and Austria to take action against Israel for historical reasons. They wrote that EU member states could use Article 20 of the EU's treaty to 'allow for at least nine member states to come together to utilize certain foreign policy tools not related to defense.'
