Falling wires strand passengers on hot MBTA Commuter Rail train for hours
'It abruptly stopped, all the power went out,' said Christian Dadasis, a passenger on the train.
'There was no AC for like the first hour when we were like at Readville and it was like getting really, really hot and a lot of people were getting angry,' said Melanie Guilderson, a passenger.
A few passengers say they lost AC for at least forty minutes just before the Readville Station in Hyde Park.
'There were some people getting upset, a lady took pieces of paper and made paper fans for us which was nice,' said Dadasis.
The MBTA posted on social media that the Franklin Line trains were delayed due to a downed overhead Amtrak wire as well as a heat-related speed restriction.
Trains on the Providence/Stoughton line and Needham lines were also delayed because of this.
'You could hear the AC went out and then it started getting hotter, but eventually they turned the AC back on and then it was like another hour before we started moving,' said Dadasis.
Passengers say it was frustrating to lose AC while the city declared a heat emergency with temperatures soaring into the 90's.
Some say they were even more upset with the lack of communication from MBTA officials.
'People were talking about how their families were just like really worried about them and driving all over Boston because they didn't know what was going to happen next,' said Guilderson.
Finally after an extra two hours on the train, it made its first stop at Readville station where many chose to get off, even if it wasn't their usual stop.
The MBTA says that downed wire was from the Amtrak system, but an Amtrak spokesperson says there was no affect to Amtrak service.

Fireworks fly, safety takes center stage at Richmond's annual July 3 celebration
The City of Richmond held its annual fireworks show a day early. This happened as the city is cracking down on illegal fireworks being set off in their community. Fireworks blasted off into the night sky as a packed crowd gathered at Marina Bay Park. Some people came early and prepared. Pamela Christian's family set up these igloo tents to stay warm during the show. "Every year, the July 3rd celebration is windy," said Christian. "So we learned from the first one." This is a way for the city to provide a fun and safe way to enjoy fireworks. "I think we're constantly having conversations to make sure that we provide a festive and celebratory environment for our citizens but also making sure we constantly consider safety," said Deputy Fire Chief Rico Rincon with the Richmond Fire Department This year, the city is cracking down on illegal fireworks. Residents say the fireworks start weeks before the 4th of July and can go into August. "My street is probably one of the busier ones," said Marissa. "I can sit on my front porch and see fireworks for miles." The police department will have more than 20 additional officers patrolling the streets to crack down on the problem on the 4th of July. Those caught could face fines up to $1000. "This year we're going to have more cops on the streets than ever," said Chief Bisa French with the Richmond Police Department. "We're going to be using the drones so we can actually catch people in the act because we know the toll that's taken on our community over the years, and we want to have an impact on that." The only issue on this night may have been the chilly wind. The fog even stayed away long enough for people to see a spectacular fireworks show. "I think it's real special to have it here so everybody can come together and enjoy it," said Christian.

Travis Kelce Says He Struggles With the 'Craziest Part' of Dating Taylor Swift
Travis Kelce is opening up about the 'craziest part' of dating Taylor Swift in a candid conversation about the struggles of being with the pop sensation. Kelce, who started dating the 'Cruel Summer' singer in 2023, appeared on a June 30 episode of the Bussin' With The Boys podcast, where he said he still hasn't gotten used to the level of attention on his relationship. More from SheKnows All of Travis Kelce's Ex-Girlfriends Before He Met Taylor Swift 'The paparazzi, that's probably the only thing I didn't really grasp until you're in it,' he said. 'That's probably the craziest part, like I'm just playing golf and all of a sudden in the trees there's a f——g guy with a camera.' The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end added that fame has taken some freedoms from him, such as, ehem, urinating in public. Kelce noted that if photographers are following him, he 'can't just go over here and take a p-ss,' joking, 'I just don't want my meat on Page Six, know what I mean?' Kelce also rejected the idea that he and Swift are 'trying to seek attention' by publicizing their relationship. '[We're] having fun with it man, being a couple,' he said. 'It gets thrown out there, like we're trying to seek attention every now and then, but it's like we're just enjoying life and having fun going to hockey games, kinda introducing her to some more of the sports world.' Last month, Swift and Kelce surprised fans with an appearance at the Amerant Bank Arena to watch the Florida Panthers play the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. The outing was part of a string of public outings in Florida in recent months, where Kelce reportedly rented a mansion in Boca Raton for his offseason NFL training. Swift wrapped up her Eras Tour and is also enjoying a period of downtime before Kelce's next season at the Kansas City Chiefs. Also in June, she took advantage of the time off by visiting a Florida hospital, where she told a fan, 'My boyfriend is training here, so I just thought I'd come and see how you're doing.' Swift is expected to continue to travel with Kelce, when she can, as he enters back into a new NFL season. Before you go, click to see all of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's cutest PDA moments. Desperate search for woman who got off cruise ship and didn't return
Authorities were searching for a woman visiting Alaska's capital city who did not return to her cruise ship from a hike she said she was taking, officials said Wednesday. The Juneau Police Department said it received a report Tuesday afternoon that the 62-year-old from Kentucky, who told relatives that morning that she was getting off the Norwegian Bliss to hike, had not returned to the vessel by its departure time. The woman's plans involved taking a tram popular with tourists partially up a mountain overlooking downtown Juneau and continuing from there, with plans to trek to Gold Ridge and Gastineau Peak, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Juneau is a popular cruise ship destination. Many tourists who ride the tram stay close to the developed area that includes the tram. There are still areas of snow on the local peaks. The department said ground and aerial searches were conducted Tuesday, with ground searches resuming Wednesday and aircraft on standby due to overcast and rainy weather. Department of Public Safety spokesperson Austin McDaniel told Alaska News Source how important it is for people to tell somebody where they are going, their journey plans and information about their clothing before travelling in the backcountry. 'If you don't return on time, they can alert first responders, alert search and rescue teams, the troopers, so we can immediately begin formulating a plan and activating resources to help get you out of the field,' he said. People should also consider bringing an additional communication device with them in case they lose mobile signal, he said. 'You might have good cell phone service, you might not. If you're not going to have good cell phone service, make sure that you're bringing some type of satellite communication device with you, whether it's an inReach or some kind of a spot device. 'Or you're using one of the more modern phones that has satellite communication services built into it.'
