Operation Bullet: Delhi Police arrest two, recover 10 stolen bikes
Police received a tip-off on Tuesday around 6 pm about two known bike thieves planning to sell a stolen Royal Enfield Bullet in the Bhalswa Dairy area. 'A trap was laid near Bhalswa Lake, Mukundpur, and two suspects were caught while riding a Royal Enfield Bullet. The bike was found to be stolen from Swaroop Nagar,' the police said.
During questioning, the accused revealed the locations where other stolen motorcycles were hidden. 'Police raided several places in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and recovered nine more stolen motorcycles from different spots,' the officer said.
Both accused admitted to multiple thefts. 'They used to break handle locks and bypass ignition circuits to start motorcycles without keys. In one case, they stole a motorcycle from a house compound and tried to break into the home but failed,' the officer added.

Fraud at Diya's shop: Staff confess to embezzling money
: In the financial fraud case at the shop owned by Diya Krishna, daughter of actor and politician G Krishnakumar, the former employees confessed to the crime. The accused admitted to embezzling money through QR codes during evidence collection conducted by the investigation team at the store. The crime branch identified the scooter and gold bought with the fraudulent money and decided to confiscate them. Police said actions were initiated for this. The scooter of the second accused, Radhakumari, was taken into custody. Of the three accused in the case, Vineetha and Radhakumari surrendered at the crime branch office. Krishnakumar's complaint stated that the employees embezzled money using a QR code. The case was that employees embezzled Rs 69 lakh from Diya's establishment. The investigation team informed the court that there is evidence for the employees stealing money from Diya's store, corroborated by the bank records of the three employees. The investigation team found that almost Rs 2 lakh reached the bank accounts of the accused in some days. After Diya's wedding, the employees were managing the store's affairs. The complaint was that the money from customers was received using the employees' QR codes and was not handed over to Diya. However, the employees first informed police that to evade tax, Diya herself asked them to channel the money through their accounts. The main accused in the case, Divya, is still at large.

Using a mobile phone while driving is considered dangerous driving under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 . The recent amendments to it, implemented this March, raise fines for mobile use while driving, with first-time offenders facing fines of up to Rs 5,000 (up from Rs 500) for four-wheeler drivers and Rs 10,000 for repeat offenders. Fines for two-wheelers remain Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 for first and repeat offences, respectively. "Two-wheeler riders using mobiles while driving are a recipe for disaster," said Amit Khatri, a road safety expert and consultant. "To maintain optimum responsiveness and balance, both hands must be on the handlebars. Earphone use also poses a risk as in-ear music distorts external sounds, impairing judgment," he said, highlighting the risks involved. Khatri identified the 18-35 demographic, especially college students and office-goers, as the most frequent violators of these safety protocols. "Only stricter fine enforcement and vigilant policing can bring in behavioural change among riders, which is needed to curb this trend," he said. Though a 2023 tender from the Ahmedabad Smart City Company (ASCC) proposed AI software upgrades for the city's CCTV e-memo issuing cameras, expanding its scope of detecting traffic violations from the current three infractions — jumping red lights, crossing stop lines and exceeding speed limits — to 32 offences, including using mobiles while driving, the proposed change has yet to be implemented.

Cylinder blast brings down building; one killed, 2 hurt
1 2 Hyderabad: A two-storey building collapsed following a cylinder blast at Medchal market, near the Ambedkar statue, on Monday night, killing a pedestrian and injuring two others. The explosion, suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak in one of the ground-floor shops, also destroyed a flower shop and a mobile shop housed in the building. Debris from the collapse scattered across the area, bringing traffic to a halt. The deceased, an unidentified pedestrian, was passing by when the building gave way. "The man was walking on the road when debris from the blast fell on him. He was pulled out by locals but succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital," said Medchal police. A case has been registered under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.
