"The CM laid the foundation stone for the construction of an approach road, including a road over bridge (ROB) worth Rs 178 crore, and a railway-level crossing situated between Khajauli-Jaynagar railway stations," the statement said.

He also launched several projects that included revival work of the Old Kamaladhar and Jeevch-Kamla rivers of the water resources department (Rs 264.93 crore), construction of four barrages and related structures on the Old Kamla and Jeevch-Kamla rivers aimed at enhancing irrigation and flood mitigation (Rs 161.08 crore), and construction of an inter-state bus terminal under the urban development and housing department in Madhubani municipal area (Rs 14.53 crore).
Besides, he also launched a project for the development of tourism facilities at Phulhar Sthan, Harlakhi at a cost of Rs 31.13 crore, the statement added.
Later, Kumar inspected the site around Janki Mandir, which will be re-developed at Punauradham. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the project, worth more than Rs 882.87crore, will be held on August 8.
The state government recently formed a nine-member trust, headed by chief secretary, for the construction and redevelopment of 'Maa Janaki Mandir' at Punaura Dham.
Around Rs 137 crore will be allocated for the renovation of the old Punaura Dham Janki Mandir, while Rs 728 crore will be used to develop tourist infrastructure around the temple. The remaining funds will be earmarked for maintenance of the infrastructure over the next ten years, the statement said.
"The comprehensive development will be carried out on the lines of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra, Ayodhya", the statement added.
Others who were present at the function included Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary; Minister of Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena and Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit.

1 2 3 4 Nagpur: The much-awaited State Institute of Disaster Management (SIDM), proposed to come up in Nagpur's MIHAN area, is likely to see construction begin by mid-November this year. Officials from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro), which is the implementing agency for the Rs187.73 crore project, confirmed that the basic structural and design planning is complete. MahaMetro officials informed that the initial planning phase is nearing completion. "The basic structural framework and the detailed design plan are prepared. These, along with all other required documentation, are now being forwarded to the state disaster management committee for review," an official said. The state committee will examine the submitted plans and recommend necessary changes, if any. Officials added that once the feedback is received, the design will be modified accordingly and then finalised. Only after this final nod, the remaining processes such as tendering and other formalities will be initiated. "We anticipate that the approval and procedural clearances will be completed within the next few months. If all goes as planned, we are targeting to begin construction work on the ground by mid-November," the official said. It will function along the lines of the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in Delhi and will also complement the recently operational State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) in Mumbai. While SEOC will handle live disaster response coordination, SIDM will provide long-term support in terms of research, training modules, simulations, and policy planning. The project was approved by the state cabinet in December 2023 under the leadership of the then-deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and will be funded through the state disaster prevention budget. The State Disaster Management Authority, chaired by the chief secretary, will provide oversight, while MahaMetro will be entitled to up to 5% of the project cost as implementation charges. Hyderabad: Traffic congestion in Hyderabad continues to intensify, even as infrastructure projects worth over 7,000 crore under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (HCITI) initiative progresses at a snail's pace, with the majority of works remaining only on paper. Despite the state govt's announcement of around 40 projects, including flyovers, underpasses, and various road-widening initiatives, nearly seven months ago, there has been minimal progress. Apart from laying foundation stones at a couple of locations such as Ameenpur under the HCITI scheme, actual construction has yet to begin, even after the tendering process was completed. HC dismisses petition for dependent pension under freedom fighter scheme
Hyderabad: Telangana high court has dismissed a writ petition seeking grant of arrears and dependent pension under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Pension Scheme, 1980. The court ruled that no pension can be sanctioned after the death of a freedom fighter if it was not granted during their lifetime. Justice NV Shravan Kumar delivered the verdict while hearing a petition filed by the late freedom fighter More Rama Rao's daughter, More Vijaya Laxmi, from Warangal district. Vijaya Laxmi claimed that neither Rama Rao nor her mother, More Sushila, were granted freedom fighter's pension despite their applications. After their deaths, being unmarried and mentally ill, she applied for a family pension, which was still pending with the authorities. Further, in view of the 2014 guidelines, the court ruled that "no lifetime arrears or dependent pension shall be sanctioned to the spouse or daughter after the death of the freedom fighter" if the pension was not already approved, and dismissed Vijaya Laxmi's petition.
