Written In Code primed for valuable farewell in Dark Jewel Classic
The five-year-old I Am Invincible mare, a $4.60 Sportsbet favourite for the feature race on Scone's annual standalone program, is set to go to the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale on May 27-28, making Saturday's run a likely farewell.
Written In Code's only black type placing was a second in the listed Denise's Joy Stakes on the same card two years ago, and Rob Archibald hopes she can bow out with an even better result at Scone, where the training operation now has stables.
In-form Scone apprentice Braith Nock has the ride from gate three.
'She's drawn well, and we've been really happy with her, so if she goes there in her best order, then she should be hard to beat,' Archibald said.
Written In Code had her biggest result when finishing her spring campaign with victory at Moonee Valley in October, and she returned with midweek wins on the Kensington track and at Hawkesbury.
She then came with a wide run in the Hawkesbury Crown last start to finish fourth on a day horses struggled to make ground on that section of the wet course.
'She closed off really nicely last time out in the Hawkesbury Crown,' Archibald said. 'They were going through one part of the track, and we ended up a little bit wide.

Travolta caps big day out for Collett and Waller on final Saturday
Travolta stormed down the outside fence to win the last at Randwick and cap a satisfying finish to Saturday racing for jockey Jason Collett and premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller. The $10 Sportsbet chance held off stablemate Pure Alpha by just over a length to win the 1800m benchmark 78 handicap for colts, gelding and entires, giving Collett four victories on the card and Waller a double. Collett went to outright second on the Sydney jockeys' premiership on 71, four ahead of Zac Lloyd (67), with one midweek meeting remaining in the season. James McDonald (83) has wrapped up a seventh consecutive title. Collett, who claimed a first Doncaster Mile on Stefi Magnetica this season, also won on Nashville Jack, Regimental Colours and Oh Diamond Lil on Saturday. 'The Donnie was great, I think I've had just under 20 stakes winners, and I'm really proud of the season I've had,' Collett said. 'I've got to sit on some great horses and it just keeps building nicely. I love what I do and I'm fortunate I have a job I enjoy.' Waller earlier won with Cigar Flick ($12), which swooped down the outside from near-last under Tommy Berry to take out the benchmark 88 handicap (1100m) by just over a length from World Alliance. 'She's a frustrating horse, but she tries her hardest,' Waller said. 'She's going well, but she's reached her level, so it's not easy to win. She needs everything to flow, she needs to come into the race at the right, the right track conditions, and today it was.'

Signor Tortoni chasing third straight win at Royal Randwick
Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Signor Tortoni has more to give but trainer Ron Quinton isn't sure when punters will see what he knows. The talented and imposing son of Too Darn Hot will line up on Saturday in The Agency Real Estate 3YO Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m) at Royal Randwick. Signor Tortoni is a veteran of just six starts, winning his past two, but Quinton knows there's more under the hood than the gelding has shown despite winning or finishing second on five occasions. 'In his gallops he can rip off a sectional like nothing else. The times he runs his last furlong only decent horses run.' Signor Tortoni has started favourite in his past four starts, beaten into second at $2.30 and $1.35 before winning at $1.14 and $1.65 last time out at Canterbury over 1200m. Trainer Ron Quinton. 'Jason (Collett) said the other day when he got up outside the leader he just wanted to idle and didn't know how to put the horse away. 'I do think he's going to appreciate getting back onto a big track like Randwick on Saturday. 'He's still learning he craft. When the penny drops, it won't surprise me one bit if he really made a statement. 'I hope that is Saturday but I can't be sure.' Rantan winning at Warwick Farm. Rantan is a three-year-old daughter of the owners' super stallion and she has a habit of finding misfortune in races. Rantan contests the ATC Thank You Owners Benchmark 72 Handicap (1100m). 'She's not easy to ride and doesn't help herself,' Quinton said. 'You've got to try to get her to travel smoothly, to give the chance to finish off. 'If Josh (Parr) can find her clear air, she is capable of being in the finish.' Originally published as Signor Tortoni chasing third straight win at Royal Randwick on Saturday
