Bystander saves child from drowning at Manitoba beach
RCMP were called to the beach at approximately 6:15 p.m. on July 18. When they arrived, EMS had already responded to the scene and were treating the child.
According to RCMP, the boy was playing in the water with other children when he suddenly didn't resurface. He was pulled from the water, not breathing.
Mounties said a 29-year-old man at the beach saw what was happening and went to help the family. He performed CPR until the child started coughing and stayed with him until EMS arrived.
'If it wasn't for the actions of this man at the beach, the outcome would likely not have been the same,' said Staff Sgt. Darcy Turko with the Portage la Prairie RCMP in a statement. 'We would like to commend and thank this bystander for his quick thinking; his actions helped save a life.'
The child will make a complete recovery, RCMP said.

Police received a 911 call at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday reporting that a worker had fallen from a ladder in the courtyard of the school on Rosemont Boulevard, near Chatelain Street. The woman was unconscious when she was treated by paramedics at the scene and sent to hospital. A police spokesperson confirmed Tuesday afternoon that she succumbed to her injuries in hospital. The SPVM says Quebec's workplace safety board, the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail, is leading the investigation. Police said officials were at the school to analyze the scene.

2 charged in daycare assaults west of Edmonton

(Nav Sangha/CTV News Edmonton) Two people are facing charges after allegations of assault at the Little Stars Montessori Early Learning Center in Spruce Grove. On March 6, RCMP got a complaint about an alleged assault at the daycare on Pioneer Road. As a result of the investigation, police have laid charges against Dimpy Bawa, 32, and Shivani Shivani, 29. Bawa was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and assault. Shivani was charged with two counts of assault. Both Bawa and Shivani were let go from the daycare at the 'onset' of the investigation, police said, and added that the daycare has been 'cooperative with investigators.' They have been released and are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17 in Stony Plain. Four victims have been identified, RCMP said. The assaults are said to have taken place on Feb. 19, 2025, with reports coming in between March 6 and March 12. Police believe there may be more victims. Little Stars daycare received a probationary licence in March due to 'safety concerns,' which temporarily removed their ability to care for infants. That licence expired June 12. The province has said that Child Care Licensing is monitoring the program. If your child attends this daycare and you believe they may have been involved, Parkland RCMP ask that you contact them at 825-220-7267. N.S. RCMP arrests man believed to be connected to firearms complaint in Bridgewater
The Nova Scotia RCMP has arrested a man believed to be connected to an ongoing firearms complaint investigation by the Bridgewater Police Service. RCMP officers responded to a report of a person with a firearm in a vehicle on Highway 325 around 9:15 p.m. on July 29. Officers learned Bridgewater police were investigating a firearms complaint one hour prior, according to an RCMP news release. RCMP officers stopped the vehicle on Raven Drive and arrested Brendan Ramsey, 30. They also seized a loaded firearm and ammunition from the vehicle. Ramsey, from Rhodes Corner, is facing multiple charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24. Bridgewater case Bridgewater police said they responded to the firearms-related complaint on North Street around 8:15 p.m. on July 29. They learned a man in a parking lot allegedly pointed what was believed to be a firearm at two people before fleeing the scene. Police did not believe it was a random incident and blocked off a section of Glen Allan Drive with the RCMP on July 30. They searched a residence and found an unsecured loaded .22 calibre rifle around 1:40 a.m. They charged Brandon Tyler Feindell with multiple offences and issued a warrant for his arrest.
