Former Ellen guest makes disturbing new bullying claims about disgraced former talk show host
The former Man Show host said staff on Ellen 'were scared, real scared' during his two guest spots on the program, during a podcast appearance Tuesday.
Speaking to conservative commentator Emily Jashinsky, Carolla, 61, provided a pair of anecdotes as purported proof.
The first saw Carolla recall being repeatedly reminded by a 'scared-to-death' page to avoid certain topics before going on air.
The second involved a writer for the show branding his then-boss 'the worst person I've ever met.'
'I knew they were scared because it's like, I was just sitting in the my dressing room and their like segment producer came in, and he went, "All right, so we went over all the stuff we're going to talk about," you know, Christmas vacation or whatever it was,' Carolla began.
'And and I go, "Yeah, yeah."
'And he goes, "You're not going to talk about meat or beef or anything like that, right?" 'And I go, "No, I'm not. I'm I'm I'm just going to talk about the stuff we talked about - going on vacation at Christmas or the kids or you know, their anecdotes.'
At the time, DeGeneres had been a devout vegan - a lifestyle she has since abandoned.
"Okay. All right. Okay. All right," Carolla recalled the staffer saying, after making one appearance on DeGeneres's show in March 2012 and another on an undisclosed date that Daily Mail has not been able to confirm.
'And he like came back like 20 minutes later right before I went out, and he's like, "Okay, but don't talk about beef or meat or any[thing],"' Carolla continued.
'I was like, "Oh, this guy's scared to death."'
Carolla then offered up another never-before-heard tale about the show that was canned after allegations of toxicity from its longtime host surfaced in 2022.
'Later on, I talked to someone who signed an NDA, so I won't say his name, but he wrote for Ellen,' Carolla explained.
'I just went, "How's Ellen?"
'And uh, he said, "Worst person, uh, worst person.
'"Not worst person I've worked for. Worst person I've ever met,"' the comic recalled.
Carolla - who hosted the Man Show with Ellen's former ABC colleague Jimmy Kimmel in the early 2000s - then revealed the staffer had also worked for Rosie O'Donnell's daytime show during the 90s, and was still adamant his then-boss was the worst of the bunch.
'[This was] when Rosie was the Official Chub Club,' Carolla pointed out, referring to the title of a book O'Donnell wrote the foreword for in 1999, titled, 'You Don't Have to Be Thin to Win: The Official Chub Club Coach's Workout Program.
'The worst and the meanest,' he said of the comic who, like DeGeneres, has left the country due to disapproval toward Donald Trump.
He added of DeGeneres - who moved to the United Kingdom with wife moved to the United Kingdom following Trump's reelection and her show's cancellation - 'She's not a nice person at all.'
Carolla ulitmately relished in the fact that the public now 'knows what [he] knew 15 years ago'.
DeGeneres was first accused of creating a toxic work environment in 2020 by ten former and one then0current employee, leading her to issu an apology.
'But now it seems to be common knowledge.'
After nearly two decades of being on the air, showrunners decided to plug on the program in 2022.
DeGeneres, 67, told The Hollywood Reporter that year, 'I have to just trust that whatever happened during that time, which was obviously very, very difficult, happened for a reason.
'I think that I learned a lot, and there were some things that came up that I was shocked and surprised by. It was eye-opening, but I just trust that that had to happen.'
As other anecdotes about her alleged on-set behavior continue come out, Carolla claimed he never sought it firsthand.
'She's not going to be mean to me. I'm a guest on on the show, right? So, I wouldn't know it from my exchanges,' he explained to Jashinsky.
'I would know it with how her staff was cowering.'

Hulk Hogan's divided family reveal how they plan to heal from estranged WWE icon's death at 71
The estranged family of WWE icon Hulk Hogan have revealed how they plan to heal after his tragic death. The wrestling legend died at the age of 71 last month after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida - with tributes quickly pouring in for the WWE icon. One of those tributes included a candid statement from his daughter Brooke, who opened up on her troubled relationship with the WWE icon in the wake of his death. By the time Hogan died, he had gone years without speaking to Brooke, 37, and, according to her partner, had 'no interest' in meeting his daughter's twins. Despite the fractured relationship, the passing of the WWE icon hit hard for Hogan's estranged family and now they have revealed how they plan to deal with his death. Brooke's husband, Steven Oleksy, told People: 'We believe family is created, and through these trying times, great people have come into our life or come back into our life, and it's brought us some great relationships and a great support system that we look at as family'. In January, the couple welcomed their twins, Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene, whom Oleksy has called 'absolute bundles of joy.' He continued: 'I'm looking forward to getting back and shifting our focus on our own family, and just taking the lessons that we've learned through these situations and just incorporating them into our own family and making sure that our son and daughter feel the love that we have for them each and every day'. In the days that followed Hogan's death, Oleksy revealed that he did in fact try to resolve their feud but that attempt was rebuffed by the WWE icon. 'She [Brooke] was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly back in April, Oleksy had been 'proactively trying to foster peace for years'. The outlet claims that he had requested a 'man-to-man conversation' with Hogan but his efforts were rebuffed by the wrestling icon. The report quotes a source close to Oleksy and Brooke who claimed that the couple's 'hurt is very, very heavy'. Oleksy offered a public defense of his wife at the time, saying he wouldn't 'stand by and allow anyone to continue to hurt' Brooke. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Despite their fractured relationship, Brooke was recently left frustrated after being snubbed of an invite from the WWE as they paid tribute to her late father. Ed Kelce, the father of Travis and Jason, has announced the death of his partner, Maureen Maguire. Kelce shared an obituary on his Facebook page on Saturday afternoon announcing that she had passed away on August 1 at the age of 74. The obituary describes Kelce as Maguire's 'beloved friend' but she has repeatedly been referred to as Ed's girlfriend amid the family's whirlwind rise to fame over the last three years. 'Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.' Ed and Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and Jason, went their separate ways after nearly 25 years of marriage but have remained friends as their sons have become two of the most famous names in the NFL. In 2023, the Super Bowl was renamed 'the Kelce Bowl' due to the brothers facing each other on opposing teams when the Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs beat Jason's Philadelphia Eagles. Later that year, the family were propeled into unprecedented levels of fame when Travis and Taylor went public with their romance.
