A COUPLE abandoned their 10-year-old son at Barcelona Airport after his passport had expired so they wouldn't miss the flight, a worker at the terminal said.
The couple jetted off from Barcelona's El Prat international airport on Wednesday without their child, organising a relative to pick him up just so they wouldn't miss their flight.

An air traffic coordinator at the airport made a TikTok video about the alleged incident, slamming the young boy's parents.
She claims the child was forbidden from flying as his passport had expired and he also required a visa.
His parents then decided, instead of missing the flight, to get a relative to pick their son up so they could continue their onward journey.
But the couple's bizarre plan went awry after the airport staff found the young boy on his own and alerted cops, the air traffic coordinator claimed.
She said in her video that has accumulated over 300,000 views: "He told them that his parents were on the plane on their way to their home country, going on vacation."
The couple were then found and taken to the airport's police station where their son had been brought to.
It is unclear whether they were arrested.
The TikToker said: "I'm an air traffic controller, and as a controller, I've seen a lot of things, but this has been completely surreal.
"I'm amazed to think how parents could possibly leave their ten-year-old son at the terminal because he can't travel due to documentation issues.
"They call a relative, who might take half an hour, an hour, or three hours, and they calmly board the flight and leave the child behind."

She added that she was "amazed" being a mother herself.
The claims made by the air traffic coordinator currently remain unconfirmed.
It comes after a mum allegedly abandoned her newborn baby to die in an airport toilet before attempting to board a flight home, a Turkish court heard.
Russian tourist Ekaterina Burnazkina, 29, was accused of giving birth in a disabled toilet at Turkey's Antalya Airport before leaving the minutes-old infant and heading for passport control.
Prosecutors told Turkey's High Criminal Court that the baby was found jammed in freezing water with her feet submerged.
She only survived because a cleaner discovered her 12 minutes later and raised the alarm.
Security footage shows Burnazkina entering the lavatory alone and later rejoining her family.
She and her mother were later stopped at passport control and arrested last October.

Garden designer reveals £2.75 Tesco trick to turn plain gardens into lush rainforest paradise

Nope - me neither. But you may well have visited one without realising if you've holidayed in Cornwall, Wales or along the Atlantic Coastline. Especially if you remember walking through green woodland packed with ferns, moss and lichen - with a really memorable earthy, damp scent. They once covered more than 20 per cent of the UK - but history devoured them - and now there's less than one per cent. So the Wildlife Trust, sponsored by Aviva, has just launched an epic 100-year restoration project to bring them back. The temperate rainforest restoration programme will restore approximately 1,755 hectares of temperate rainforest across the British Isles. Some of the new sites created through this programme include Bowden Pillars in Devon, Bryn Ifan in North Wales, Creg y Cowin and Glion Darragh on the Isle of Man, Trellwyn Fach in Pembrokeshire, and – most recently - Skiddaw in Cumbria. Garden Designer Zoe Claymore, won a silver gilt medal at RHS Chelsea for her British Rainforest Garden. She told me: 'I didn't know it at the time - but I played in a British rainforest as a child. The end of my grandparents garden in Devon went into Lidford Gorge which is one of the last existing rainforests. 'In the UK they're found in the Goldilocks zone - not too hot, not too cold - and by rivers, gullies and gorges, because you also need the moisture from the river creating that ecosystem.' But there are ways of recreating one in your own garden, she said. 'Even if you don't live in an area suited to creating a rainforest there's other plants that will create the same vibes. Mums are raving about an indoor tropical rainforest attraction in the UK 'Create shade with Hazels - they're a great small tree which gives a real native-feel and perfect for small gardens. Or include hollies, birch or willows. 'Create a water feature - from a little stream with a few rocks or simply as an old-school rock water bowl - to create that sense of humidity. "But even if you just did a pond in a pot surrounded by some fun little logs, that will create habitat, that will bring wildlife, and it will create that kind of feeling of rainforest-y wetness." It's easy to make a home made pond - using old washing up bowls. Tesco's are currently selling one for just £2.75. First choose a spot that's sunny but not in direct sunlight all day - otherwise the water will evaporate. Then all you have to do is put some logs around it, and a few stones, so wildlife can climb in and out easily - almost like a ramp. Ideally fill it with rain water rather than tap. And then put in about three water plants - like mini water lillies or water forget-me-not and sit back waiting for the wildlife. Zoe added: 'Then use British classic woodland plants and really focus on ferns - the unsung beautiful heroes of shade gardening - as well as bluebells, foxgloves, primulars, ivy, bananas and - if you've got a wet area - moss - which is the jewel in the crown - so your garden will be green all year round." For a 'how to' guide adapted to all UK gardens - as well as a rainforest-inspired pot combination - head to - and a share of the proceeds will go the Wildlife Trust. The rare blue Flymo was unveiled last month - taking its place in the museum alongside King Charles, Brian May, and Nicholas Parsons' former mowers. It came after a nationwide search for the UK's oldest Flymo to celebrate 60 years since the iconic hover mower was invented. Family 'lucky to be alive' as bear climbs into car in US holiday horror

The nosey bear rummaged around their luggage and bags inside the car before being scared off. A family has told how they feel "lucky to be alive" after a bear climbed into their car while they were on holiday in the US. ‌ The Ferguson family, from Airdrie, had been staying in a rental cabin in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains when the shocking incident unfolded on Monday. ‌ Grace Sloan, 18, was with her boyfriend Logan Ferguson, his parents and his aunt and uncle when the wild animal made its surprise appearance. ‌ The group were packing up their car following a two-week road-trip across the southern states of America when the black bear climbed into the boot. bear on Monday. Glasgow teen Grace told the Record: "I was still in my room packing up my things and I suddenly heard screams of ' Bear!' coming from outside. ‌ "Logan's mum was shouting and I could see his dad Paul and his uncle Johnny in the car and a bear was right next to them." In footage of the ordeal, Johnny is seen fleeing the 4x4 as the nosey bear hauls cases out the car before jumping in the open boot and climbing through the vehicle. But as Johnny made his escape, slamming shut the passenger door, the child lock activated, trapping Logan's dad Paul inside. ‌ Grace continued: "Paul had to climb over into the front seats to escape. ‌ "I've never seen sweat come off someone like that in my life. "We were all panicking not knowing what to do. ‌ 'If the bear had hurt anyone, I don't know what we would have done. "I'm still shocked. It could have killed one of us and Paul and Johnny are lucky to be alive in that way.' ‌ A video of the family's close encounter has since racked up over one million views on TikTok. In a bid to scare the bear away, the family can be seen triggering the car alarm. ‌ The animal eventually scarpered, leaving behind a torn hat and a hole in a suitcase. The family's trip took them through Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, North Carolina, and Alabama. Black bears are native to the state of Tennessee and can weigh anywhere from 200-600lbs. Grace added: "We were lucky enough to see five bears on the whole trip, but the last one was by far the scariest. It was nerve wracking, but at least we all have a good story to tell." Hugely popular beach slammed by visitors as 'overrated' and 'boring'

This world-famous beach is loved by many for its vibrant atmosphere and rolling waves, but that hasn't stopped some visitors from branding it thoroughly disappointing One of the world's most famous beaches has been named as one of the biggest let-downs. Through examining over 100 internationally celebrated beaches via travel reviews, Ibiza Summer Villas discovered that Bondi Beach leaves many visitors thoroughly underwhelmed. ‌ Each location received ratings based on reviews, Google and TikTok search popularity, plus yearly precipitation levels at the destination. The study showed that Australia's Bondi Beach tops the charts for disappointment, with holidaymakers branding it "overrated" and "disappointing". ‌ This stretch of coastline claimed the crown for most underwhelming when comparing poor reviews against search popularity, though the figure remained modest at merely 2.7% of reviews describing it as "disappointing" or "overrated" alongside 447,000 TikTok searches, reports the Express. It comes after a warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain. ‌ Excessive crowds, heavy commercialisation, and visitor exhaustion feature prominently, securing its position at number five on the overhyped rankings. Bondi Beach enjoys worldwide recognition for its waves, golden sands and naturally, the countless holidaymakers who descend upon this Sydney hotspot annually. ‌ The area boasts tidal pools, a thriving food and drink scene featuring numerous cafés and pubs, plus an array of boutique and chain retailers. Yet for all its splendour, this coastal gem doesn't appeal to everyone. Tourists expressed frustration with the masses, with one individual posting on TripAdvisor: "I got the feeling that everyone who comes here comes for 'been there, done that' experience only. Crowded and overrated." One disgruntled visitor remarked: "Probably the most overrated beach on the planet. Crowded full of arrogant people and feels like everyone is in a bad mood." Another added: "I can't see anything attractive about Bondi, except possibly closeness to the city. The place is so heavily overpopulated, with apartments everywhere you look. Concrete is everywhere. Where is the nature?". ‌ However, not everyone shared this sentiment, with some tourists being completely taken aback by the beach's beauty. One such tourist enthused: "It's a vibrant, busy beach which is perfect for surfing and swimming. There are plenty of places to eat and drink along the beach and different walks that you can take along the coastline." Another penned: "Bondi Beach is an absolute icon! The golden sand, rolling waves, and buzzing atmosphere make it a must-visit in Sydney. "The surf is amazing, but it can be dangerous if you don't follow the flags and listen to the lifeguards-they're there for a reason!".
