Little green man becomes little green woman with soccer ball for Euro 2025 in Switzerland
Authorities in the Swiss city of Basel have installed 12 of the altered pedestrian crossing lights at locations frequented by soccer fans while the country hosts the nearly month-long tournament.
Some are located near the soccer stadium, others near the train station.
'They will stay until the end of the Women's Euro — maybe even a few days longer,' says Nicole Ryf-Stocker, spokeswoman for Basel's transport department.
Ryf-Stocker said the idea and design was provided by the St. Gallen civil engineering department, while the lights were manufactured by the same company that manufactures Basel's traffic lights.
'We thought the idea was fantastic and were allowed to use it,' she said.

Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh traded late home runs after the outcome was all but decided, with Raleigh's 36th of the season keeping the Seattle catcher two ahead of Judge for the major league lead. Advertisement Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt each had three hits for the Yankees, who won their second straight following a six-game slide. Rookie right-hander Will Warren (6-4) pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings, rebounding from an ugly start in Toronto last week. Ryan Jeffers had three RBIs and the first of three homers for the Twins in a six-run eighth off Porter Hodge, who was also taken deep by Willi Castro and Harrison Bader and got just one out. Royce Lewis drove in two runs, and All-Star Byron Buxton and Jeffers greeted Imanaga (5-3) with back-to-back doubles to start a two-run first inning. Marlins extend road winning streak to 11 with 12-2 win over Reds
CINCINNATI (AP) — The Miami Marlins extended their franchise-record road winning streak to 11 with a 12-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. It's the longest road winning streak in the major leagues since the Phillies won 13 straight away from home in 2023. Eury Pérez (2-2) made his sixth start for the Marlins since returning this season from Tommy John surgery and only two hits including Matt McLain's solo homer, his 10th, in the first inning. Pérez struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. After Nick Martinez (6-9) retired the first six batters he faced, the Marlins collected six consecutive hits off him in the third, including a two-run double by Xavier Edwards to take a 7-1 lead. Martinez, who made his first start at Great American Ball Park since taking a no-hitter into the ninth against the Padres, allowed a career-high 10 earned runs on seven hits. The Marlins caught a break in the seven-run third inning when Agustín Ramírez's high-hopper went just over the head of Reds' third baseman Noelvi Marte to drive home another run and keep the rally going.
