Suniel Shetty Says Hera Pheri 3 Is A Family Film: ‘No Need To Feel Awkward Or Watch It Secretly'
Directed by Priyadarshan, the film has finally cleared all hurdles and is set to go on floors soon.
The iconic trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty is officially reuniting for Hera Pheri 3, and fans of the cult comedy franchise couldn't be more thrilled. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film has finally cleared all hurdles and is set to go on floors soon. Amid growing excitement, Suniel Shetty has now offered insights into the film's tone, assuring fans that it stays true to the franchise's roots.
In a recent interview shared by Sai Safar YouTube channel during his visit to Shirdi Sai Baba, Shetty opened up about what makes Hera Pheri 3 special. He described the movie as a wholesome family entertainer and emphasised that it's a film one can watch without any discomfort.
'Ye family ki film hai. Shayad wo ek film jahaan aap sab milke ek saath dekh sakte ho. Parivaar se chhupa ke nahi," Shetty said. (This is a family film. Perhaps the kind you can all watch together. Once you switch on the TV, there's no need to worry or feel awkward. You know people are only going to laugh. There's no need to watch it in secret on TV or mobile. Not something to hide from the family.)
He further added, 'Waisi hi filmein hum banate hain. Hum waisi filmein karte aaye hain jo hum chaahe ki parivar dekhe. Aur ye Hera Pheri bhi waise hi hogi." (These are the kinds of films we make. We've always made the kind of films we want families to watch. And this Hera Pheri will be just like that.)
This comes after a turbulent phase when Paresh Rawal briefly exited the film in May 2025 due to reported differences. Thankfully, all issues have been resolved, and Rawal is officially back as Babu Bhaiya. With the original trio locked in, expectations for Hera Pheri 3 are understandably sky-high.

'Paresh Rawal told me sorry for leaving 'Hera Pheri 3,' says Priyadarshan as the film-maker reacts to his return: 'Akshay, Suniel, and he met cordially and sorted'
Paresh Rawal is finally back to the 'Hera Pheri' franchise after announcing his exit from the third installment of the film. Things have clearly not been easy when it comes to 'Hera Pheri 3', as there have been several glitches in the making. Just when one thought that everything is finally falling into place, Rawal announced he no longer is a part of the film. Akshay's production house has bought the rights of the movie, and hence a legal action was taken against Paresh. Reacting to what happened and how things are sorted, Priyadarshan told Mid-day, "Both Akshay and Paresh called to say that everything is sorted. I was in shock when Paresh said, 'Sir, I'm doing the movie'. He added, 'I have never had anything except a lot of respect for you. I've done 26 movies with you, and I'm sorry to have left the film. There were some personal issues.' He said that Akshay, Suniel, and he met cordially and sorted it out.' Now that Rawal is back on board, Priyadarshan will finally start serious work on the script. He added, "Whatever I do, I cannot surpass Hera Pheri [2000]. The second part [Phir Hera Pheri, 2006] was bad; it was a copy of a Hollywood movie." He said further, "Hera Pheri cannot happen without any of the three lead characters. Recently, on a flight, a diamond merchant and his family came to me and requested me to bring Paresh back. They said they won't watch the film otherwise.' There have been reports that Sajid Nadiadwala and Ahmed Khan were instrumental in this patch-up but Priyadarshan denied their involvement. Meanwhile, the same publication quoted a source saying, "Paresh's stance initially softened when Akshay firmly defended him at the Housefull 5 trailer launch, where a journalist called the senior actor 'foolish' for leaving Hera Pheri 3. Then on Paresh's birthday, Akshay called to wish him. The superstar told him that while movies will come and go, their friendship should withstand the test of time as they go back a long way. After that, the two met along with Suniel (Shetty)."
