Carlton defender Jack Silvagni in doubt to face Collingwood

Silvagni was confined to run-throughs on the far wing at Ikon Park alongside injured forward Harry McKay as the Blues held an open training session on Monday morning.
He spoke at length to the Blues' trainers before moving inside about 30 minutes into the session.
Fellow defender Jacob Weitering moved well in a promising session after battling an ankle injury in the Blues' heavy loss to Port Adelaide, but losing Silvagni would force another reshuffle of the club's key position stocks ahead of the prime time clash with their arch rivals.
About 40 Carlton supporters watched on in the stands as the under-pressure side was put through its paces.
There was minimal security presence and the session passed without controversy except for one rowdy onlooker standing outside the gates.
'Bit of voice, lads! Bit of voice, come on. Library,' he yelled out.
Blues skipper Patrick Cripps trained fully after dealing with illness over the past week, as did sore ruckman Tom De Koning.
Embattled coach Michael Voss was not spotted, but rarely ventures on to the track during the first session of the week.

West Coast veteran Dom Sheed, the man who broke the hearts of millions of Collingwood supporters in the 2018 AFL grand final, has announced his retirement. Sheed had nearly 2000 kicks across his 165 game career, but none more important than his last-gasp goal at the MCG which propelled the Eagles to a stunning five-point victory. His goal from the boundary, which put the Eagles in front having trailed by two points when he took the kick, was one of 32 disposals in arguably the best game of a career which stalled in recent seasons due to injuries. 'It has been an absolute privilege to represent the West Coast Eagles, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity this great footy club gave a skinny kid from Kalgoorlie,' Sheed said. 'To play for the Club I grew up supporting has been a dream come true, but the relationships you build and memories you share from footy are what I will cherish most from my time in the game. 'There are so many people I would like to thank for helping me along the journey, first and foremost my amazing family. 'It hasn't always been easy. There's been plenty of ups and downs, and to finish up without being able to play alongside the boys this year due to injury has been tough. 'But my family have been there for me every step of the way, and I can't thank my parents and my wife Brooke enough. He was on the end of a play started by an intercept mark from teammate Jeremy McGovern, who has been forced into medical retirement due to concussion. It leaves Liam Ryan, who delivered the ball to Sheed, as the only player who was part of that play still active on the Eagles' list. Sheed was taken at pick 11 in that year's draft and made his AFL debut as a sub in round one 2014.

AFL 2025: North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson on concussed young gun George Wardlaw
North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson says he won't take 'take the beast out' of hard-nosed midfielder George Wardlaw despite yet another concussion setback. Wardlaw sustained a third concussion in 12 months during the Kangaroos' disappointing loss to Hawthorn on Saturday. He will enter the concussion protocols but could sit on the sidelines for longer as North Melbourne prioritises the health of its young star. Wardlaw was seemingly in good health at training on Tuesday, completing some running away from the main group. Clarkson says every footballer runs the risk of injury and has no intention of changing the way Wardlaw attacks the contest. 'He's been asked this question plenty of times, what do you change with him? He's habitual, it's the way he plays his footy,' he said. 'You just hope over time he gathers a bit more awareness, a little bit more luck, a bit stronger in his body, perhaps. 'I try to take the beast out of the way that he plays and you won't have the same George Wardlaw. 'That's the risk we all have when we play the game, hope he gets a good run of luck.' Wardlaw was not the only Roo away from the main group on Tuesday, with Luke Parker absent from the track. Clarkson says the short turnaround between the Hawks and Western Bulldogs this Thursday is forcing the Roos to limit the training of a few sore bodies. North Melbourne trains again on Wednesday and will put several players through a fitness test ahead of selection. 'We've got a whole heap of guys because it's such a short break, we trained today and most of those guys were able to do something,' Clarkson said. 'It's just getting them moving a bit, we'll train tomorrow and then select our side tomorrow night. '(Parker) is one of those guys that we need to test tomorrow, some of them didn't come out on the track at all today or they did very, very light duties on the side. 'They'll present tomorrow with another 24 hours of recovery (and) see how we go. We'll have a couple of certainties out … George and Jack Darling. 'We'll test a couple others tomorrow, see how they pull up and if they're no good we'll just go in with fresh guys.'

Another Eagles flag hero calls time on AFL career
West Coast premiership great Dom Sheed has confirmed his AFL retirement after a serious knee injury proved the last straw. The 30-year-old from Kalgoorlie had played 165 games since his 2014 debut, but none this season after tearing the ACL in his right knee at February pre-season training. His retirement comes a week after fellow Eagle Jeremy McGovern also called it quits because of persistent concussion problems. McGovern's intercept mark deep in defence famously started the crucial chain of possessions late in the last quarter of the 2018 grand final win over Collingwood. Sheed was on the end of the play, marking and kicking an outstanding goal from a difficult angle, with Magpies fans howling at him on the boundary fence only a couple of metres away. Shortly after, the Eagles won by five points for their fourth and most recent flag. Sheed told Eagles teammates of his decision on Tuesday morning and he will front an afternoon media conference at the club. At his prime, Sheed was a key cog in West Coast's talent-packed midfield. But from 2022-24 he only managed 24 senior games because of injuries. "It's just one of those moments you either get right or you don't, and I was lucky that I got it right," Sheed later said of his iconic shot for goal. "It really was an amazing moment. And that whole passage of play, starting at Gov - I'm not sure what the chances were. "I think I was meant to be off the ground. "I've never been a great set shot in front of goal but I did have two shots pre-game from that spot and I managed to kick them both, so I thought I was a chance."
