Cigarettes Hidden in Food Containers Seized at Nuwaiseeb Crossing
KUWAIT CITY, June 27: Kuwaiti customs officials at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 323 cartons of cigarettes concealed within food containers.
According to authorities, two vehicles arrived at the border checkpoint and were directed to the vehicle inspection area. During a routine search, customs officers discovered the cigarettes cleverly hidden among large quantities of food items.
Investigations revealed that both vehicles belonged to two brothers, who were attempting to smuggle the goods under the guise of transporting food. The concealed cigarettes were found distributed across multiple food containers, clearly intended to camouflage the illegal cargo.
Customs officials promptly took the necessary legal measures in response to the incident, reaffirming their commitment to combating smuggling and protecting public revenue.
