Startup funding stands at $95 million this week
Out of these, five were growth-stage deals and 10 were early-stage, while two startups chose not to disclose their funding details.
Among cities, Bengaluru-based startups led with six deals, followed by Delhi-NCR with four.
Mumbai, Hyderabad and other cities also witnessed activity.
Fintech emerged as the most funded sector this week with four deals.
Deeptech and SaaS startups followed with two deals each, while proptech, foodtech, and OTT startups also raised funds.
Seed funding rounds dominated this week, with seven deals. Series A and pre-Series A rounds saw two deals each, while pre-IPO, debt, and Series B rounds also featured.
The average startup funding over the past eight weeks stands at around $205.24 million, with roughly 21 deals per week.
Growth and late-stage startups collectively raised $72.9 million. Leading the pack was IPO-bound proptech firm Smartworks, which raised $20 million in a pre-IPO round.
Education-focused NBFC Varthana secured Rs 159 crore (approximately $18.5 million) through debt financing.
Clean-label food brand Kehtika raised $18 million in a Series B round led by Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office and Anicut Capital.
Fintech player Credit Wise Capital and Avis Hospital were also part of the funding list this week.
In the early-stage category, 10 startups raised a total of $22.11 million. Tech-enabled NBFC InPrime Finserv led this segment by raising $6 million in its Series A round from Pravega Ventures.
Other notable startups that raised funds include NRI-focused fintech platform Belong, OTT microdrama app Chai Bisket, home services startup Clean Fanatics, and deeptech firm Green Aero.
Meanwhile, cybersecurity startup LdotR and SaaS platform Monetize360 also raised capital but did not disclose the amounts.
In strategic developments, workspace solution provider Incuspaze acquired VSKOUT, a B2B SaaS platform offering curated data analytics for commercial real estate.
Separately, Infinity Fincorp Solution, a non-bank lender, signed a share purchase and subscription agreement with global investment firm Partners Group, which will acquire a significant majority stake in the company.

CM: Power projects with 1 lakh cr investment underway in Arunachal
1 2 New Delhi: Multiple hydro-power projects with an investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore are underway in Arunachal Pradesh to produce 18,000 MW of power, chief minister Pema Khandu has said. Five of these projects of 2,620 MW have been allocated by the state govt to the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO), five projects of 5,097 MW to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVN) and two projects with a capacity of 3,800 MW to the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. "As of now, on the ground, the work for generating a total of 18,000 MW of hydro-power is on. In the coming days, we will add more projects. All these projects involved more than Rs 1 lakh crore investment," Khandu told PTI in an interview here. He said these projects were earlier allotted to private sector developers but remained non-starters due to various reasons. AU issues notices over deficiencies
Chennai: Anna University issued notices to 141 engineering colleges on Saturday over deficiencies in faculty and lab facilities following the physical inspection of 450 engineering colleges. Among them, 10 colleges with severe deficiencies were also served show cause notices. These ten colleges could face action, including the disaffiliation of courses, if they do not have the required facilities and faculty members. In a circular to the engineering colleges, Anna University asked the colleges to rectify the shortcomings and upload the details on or before July 18. The online general engineering counselling is scheduled to begin on Monday. There is also issue of qualification of science and humanity faculty members. The university found that many faculty did not have required NET, SET qualification. "Colleges can also appoint retired faculty members from govt colleges to teach science and humanities subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English to engineering students," a senior professor from the university said. The university also made it mandatory for all engineering colleges to upload the disclosure to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on their web portal, to inform students and parents about the facilities available in the college.

HC questions irregularities in preparing DPRs of Cuttack drain project
1 2 Cuttack: Orissa high court has taken serious note of irregularities in the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) related to the Rs 335.42 crore branch surface water channel (BSWC) drain project in Cuttack. A division bench of Justices S K Sahoo and V Narasingh, while hearing the matter on July 11, came down heavily on the housing and urban development department and noted with concern that the DPRs submitted by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) were neither authenticated nor bore the names of officials involved in their preparation. The court termed the lapses as "startling". The bench also questioned how a Bhubaneswar-based private consultancy firm came to represent the city engineer (CMC) during a crucial meeting held on April 30. "There is nothing on record to indicate how the private company could represent a govt official," the court observed. The matter pertains to the proposed construction of five BSWC drains in the city. Despite a decision taken in Dec 2023 to consult IIT Bhubaneswar for an expert review of the DPRs, the documents were sent instead to VSSUT. The shift was based on a communication dated June 17 this year from the firm. "It does not stand to reason how the govt's direction to consult IIT Bhubaneswar, keeping in mind the hydraulic analysis required, was ignored," the bench stated. When questioned by the court, the engineer assured the revised DPRs would be submitted by July 25. However, the judges noted the absence of any explanation as to why the firm was involved and why the IIT's expertise was bypassed.
