Jackie Chan says Rush Hour 4 needs to happen soon — ‘Otherwise, we'll be 100 years old…'

Hindustan Times01-06-2025
Few film franchises hold their audiences in a chokehold the way the Rush Hour trilogy does. Nearly 25 years after the cult classic hit screens, fans are still waiting (and hoping) for a fourth instalment — and now, Jackie Chan himself has offered a few candid thoughts that are getting fans buzzing again.
In a recent interview, the 71-year-old action legend opened up about his experience working on the Rush Hour trilogy, sharing some behind-the-scenes reflections and where things currently stand on Rush Hour 4. While promoting the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends, Chan didn't shy away from some honest comments.
When asked to pick his favourite Rush Hour film, Chan hesitated, before giving a surprisingly revealing response: 'I don't know,' Chan said. 'You know what, the first one: little money, little time. We shot it like, 'Go, go, go, go!' The second one: a lot of money, a lot of time. The third one: too much money, too much time. Too much money is no good.'
It's a simple yet insightful comment that says a lot about Chan's perspective on filmmaking. The charm of the original movie, it seems, may have stemmed from the urgency and scrappiness of a smaller production. That unpolished energy arguably helped make Rush Hour the classic it became.
As for the much-anticipated Rush Hour 4, Chan didn't reveal too much, but what he did say hit home. 'Ask the director, ask the studio, ask the writer. Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and me [will be] 100 years old. We'll be old men doing Rush Hour.'
It's a sentiment that's both funny and a little urgent. While fans have long clamoured for a sequel, time is, quite literally, running out. Back in 2022, Chan had confirmed that Rush Hour 4 was in the works, and Tucker himself echoed the excitement, saying: 'You're going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it's going to be on a whole other level,' Tucker teased at the time. 'That's what I like… I'm excited about that. It's not going to be what you've normally seen…Rush Hour 4, that's something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie.'
Directed by Brett Ratner, the original Rush Hour films paired Chan's stoic but skilled Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee with Tucker's fast-talking LAPD Detective James Carter. The buddy-cop formula struck gold, both critically and commercially. But Ratner's exit from Hollywood amid controversy has been one of the biggest obstacles to getting Rush Hour 4 off the ground.
Still, Jackie's recent remarks show he's open — and maybe even eager — to make it happen. Speaking on the Karate Kid: Legends red carpet, he reiterated his interest in reuniting with Tucker, a promising sign for fans still holding out hope. While there's still no official confirmation or timeline for Rush Hour 4, Jackie Chan's comments make one thing clear: the spirit of the franchise lives on in its stars.

Stray Kids Leader Bang Chan ‘Pissed Off' Over ‘Disrespectful' Fan Behaviour At Concert

Stray Kids concluded their world tour, Stray Kids World Tour 'dominATE,' in Rome, Italy. Stray Kids leader Bang Chan went live on Instagram on July 31 to interact with fans after wrapping up the group's world tour, Stray Kids World Tour 'dominATE'. While the livestream was meant to be a casual session, it turned serious when the artist responded to growing concerns about fan conduct during concerts. Speaking directly to viewers, Chan took a moment to share his thoughts on the matter. He addressed a comment that read, 'Stop putting STAYs in their place," and responded firmly, 'I mean, if you're respectful and you do what you do, then I don't say anything. You've got to respect stuff, no? There are things that you're allowed to do, and there are things you're not allowed to do. If you know what's what, then you do what's what, then there's no problem." 'If You Cross The Line…' Chan appeared visibly affected while discussing the situation. He reminded fans that while concerts are meant to be a space for joy and connection, certain boundaries still need to be respected. 'If you're going to come to the concerts and do something that you're not supposed to do, and we have staff coming to confront you, then what do you want me to do? I can't save you. You did wrong. It really pisses me off to be honest," he said. He went on to stress mutual respect between the artist and the fans, adding, 'You respect me, I will respect you. Simple as that, okay. Simple. You cross the line? Oh ho… Don't do that." Stray Kids' Tour Comes To An End Stray Kids brought their dominATE tour to a close with a final performance at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, on Wednesday. The large-scale concert marked the end of a global journey that spanned nearly a year. The world tour began in August 2024 at the KSPO Dome in Seoul. Throughout the tour, the group performed in 34 cities across five continents and completed a total of 54 shows. Fans from Asia, Oceania, Latin America, North America and Europe came together to witness the group's dynamic performances. The group includes eight members, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N. and are known for their powerful performances and self-produced songs. They debuted under JYP Entertainment and have grown steadily over the years. Former member Woojin left the group in 2019. New Album KARMA Set For August Release Following the end of the tour, Stray Kids is preparing to release their fourth Korean-language studio album titled KARMA. The album will be out on August 22 and features 11 tracks. The lead song of the album is titled Ceremony as confirmed by JYP Entertainment. Other songs on the album include a track that translates to Bleep, Creed, Mess, In My Head, Half Time, Phoenix, Ghost, 0801 and two remixed versions of Ceremony. AP Dhillon's new song Thodi Si Daaru copied from Shinchan theme song? Here's what we know

Singer and rapper, AP Dhillon dropped his latest party track, Thodi Si Daaru, featuring actor Tara Sutaria. While it's only been a few days since the song's release, some social media users have accused the rapper of plagiarism. Many claimed that the song has been copied. Thodi Si Daaru marks the collaboration between AP Dhillon and Shreya Ghoshal. While the catchy tune and the visuals of the tracks have kept fans hooked to the song, a section on the internet was also reminded of the popular cartoon, Shinchan's theme song. They claimed an uncanny resemblance between the two songs over their tune. Decoding the same, a user on Instagram compared Dhillon's Thodi Si Daaru to the Hindi theme song of Shinchan, Mera Naam Bhi Shin-chan Hai. In his video, he played both the tracks individually and then combined them using an audio mixing software. Surprisingly, both songs created a smooth mashup with only the vocals differing. The edited clip also featured a section where Shreya Ghoshal's voice was overlaid on the Shin-chan lyrics, further backing the claims. The now-viral post read, 'Shinchan x AP Dhillon! Why do these two songs work so well? AP Dhillon's new song Thodi Si Daaru mash up with Shinchan's Title Song. Also featuring Shreya Ghoshal." Reacting to the video, a user wrote, 'Areee singh Saab, what is this behaviour.' 'This dude's career is built on plagiarism,' added another. One said, 'I thought it was just me who saw this similarity! Thank god it's evident!' Someone else also jokingly commented, 'Shinchan Singh Dhillon.' Yet another poked fun: 'Shinchan must be sitting and watching from somewhere and thinking.' 'Bro got inspired by Shinchan,' wrote one more user. Many also tagged AP Dhillon in the comment section. However, he is yet to respond to these claims. AP Dhillon is a Canadian singer. He is best known for his popular tracks, such as Excuses, Dil Nu, True Stories, Old Money, Brown Munde, Summer High, and more. Previously, AP Dhillon dropped a collaboration with the October actress Banita Sandhu, starring together in his music video With You. Besides the success of the music video, it also sparked dating rumours between the two after the release of the song.
