Alt News Co-founder Mohammed Zubair seeks Bengaluru police action over repeat threats, address leak: Report
According to the report, in a complaint filed on May 13, Zubair alleged that unknown individuals threatened to send pork to his home, a move he described as a targeted attempt to incite religious hatred.
'This is not the first time such harassment has taken place,' Zubair said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). 'The same individual sent pork to my address in 2023 and had shared the shipping details online. I hope the police take this threat seriously this time.'

He added that a previous FIR filed on the issue was closed without significant action, the report added.
Zubair further revealed that several right-wing accounts had circulated his contact details, with at least one X handle, @Cyber_Huntss, calling for pork to be delivered to his home. Zubair called the act an intentional provocation aimed at deepening communal divisions, and requested police protection in light of ongoing threats to his life.
Zubair has been a frequent target of online abuse, often facing hostility for his work debunking misinformation and communal propaganda. This latest episode comes amid heightened online tensions following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the ongoing military operation codenamed 'Operation Sindoor,' both of which have inflamed nationalist rhetoric across digital platforms.
Several social media users have come out in support of Zubair, urging the authorities, including the Bengaluru Commissioner of Police and the Director General of Police, Karnataka, to ensure his safety and pursue a thorough investigation.
Zubair's complaint has been filed with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Division), and he hopes this time the matter will not be brushed aside.

Man detained in drug case dies in NCB custody in M.P.; tribal man ‘assaulted' inside police station
A 35-year-old man, detained for alleged illegal possession of drugs, passed away in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)'s custody in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district, officials said on Friday (July 25, 2025). According to the NCB, Mahipal Singh Rajput was detained from Unhel in Ujjain district in the intervening night of July 23 and 24 with 411 grams of MD drug, and was brought to Mandsaur on Thursday (July 24, 2025) morning. R.K. Chaturvedi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), NCB told The Hindu that Mr. Rajput fell ill after reaching Mandsaur and was immediately rushed to a hospital where he passed away. A judicial probe by the district court has been initiated in the matter, he added. 'He fell ill and started vomiting even before we could begin the proceedings or questioning him so we moved him to a hospital. Prima facie, the doctors are saying that he had infection in his stomach and lungs that caused vomiting and he accidentally swallowed it resulting in choking,' Mr. Chaturvedi said, adding that a panel of doctors will conduct the post-mortem on the deceased. The deceased's family questioned the police's move of taking him to a private hospital instead of a government facility. Mr. Chaturvedi, however, said, 'We took him to the best possible option available nearby because the private hospital also had ventilator facility.' He said that Mr. Rajput had been convicted for 12 years after he was arrested in 2009 for possession of 300 grams of smack. Meanwhile, a tribal man was allegedly brutally assaulted inside Bhainsdehi police station in Betul district, after he was detained following a argument with some locals. In a complaint given to Bhainsdehi sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Parasram Chilhate alleged that around 10.30 a.m. on July 24 his brother Sandeep Chilhate was 'thrashed by some local liquor traders and taken to the police station where the cops also brutally beat him up'. 'He was only allowed to leave around 8 p.m. after giving ₹30,000 to the cops. He was partially unconscious when we brought him home,' Mr. Parasram said in the complaint. Betul SP Nishchal Jhharia said that he received a complaint in the matter on Friday evening and has directed the local sub-divisional police officer (SDOP) to launch an investigation into it. 'We will verify all aspects of the case and investigate this. If anyone, including our department officers, are found involved in this, legal action will be taken against them,' he said, speaking to The Hindu. Earlier this month, three police personnel were suspended in Chhatarpur district for 'thrashing four tribal youths with belts and canes' and 'torturing' them in custody over suspicious of theft.

Rajkot advocates ask for appointment of new district govt pleader, AGPs
Rajkot: A delegation of senior advocates from Rajkot met Gujarat minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi during his visit to the city, demanding the appointment of a new district govt pleader and expedited appointments of assistant govt pleaders (AGPs). Dilip Patel, senior advocate and co-chairman of the Bar Council of India, said, "The current district govt pleader has been holding the post for eight years and has passed retirement age. The govt should retire him and appoint a successor. Interviews for assistant govt pleaders were conducted three years ago, but no appointments have been made so far." The district govt pleader heads the prosecution and assigns cases to AGPs in all courts. The advocates also voiced concerns about police conduct. They alleged that some junior police personnel behave rudely when lawyers visit police stations on behalf of clients. Additionally, they raised concerns about the city's worsening traffic situation. Nagaland Turns Back 200 Vehicles Carrying Illegal Migrants From Assam Border
Guwahati: The Niuland district administration along with the Nagaland Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) intercepted and turned back over 200 vehicles carrying evicted illegal immigrants from Assam at various checkpoints across the district, sources have told NDTV. This comes at a time when the Nagaland government issued an advisory to the police to check evicted illegal migrants from Assam trying to enter the state. District-level intelligence teams were deployed at the check gates to assist in identifying and processing the occupants, sources said. In the last two days, over 200 vehicles that were attempting to transport individuals evicted during the Assam government's drive have been turned back after checking their credentials and it was found that they were evicted in the recent anti-encroachment drive in different parts of Assam. Three states in the northeast have issued an alert cautioning against the entry of illegal migrants from Assam, where the Himanta Biswa Sarma government has been carrying out massive eviction drives. The advisory issued by neighbouring Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland said all officers concerned should report any movement of suspected illegal migrants immediately. They have to collect the suspects' biometric and biographic data, too. The three states are concerned that the encroachers and illegal migrants evicted from Assam government lands may enter their states. Yesterday, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the state's preparedness and strengthen border vigilance due to the ongoing eviction drive in Assam against illegal immigrants. The meeting aimed to prevent a spillover of illegal migrants from Assam entering neighbouring Meghalaya. It also reviewed the potential fallout of Assam's eviction drive and its impact on Meghalaya's border areas. Manipur Police today gave revised instructions outlining the procedure for detection, restriction of movement, and deportation of illegal immigrants. In addition, a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP) for verification and detection of illegal immigrants, including Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals, has been provided to ensure uniform and coordinated action at the district level. To strengthen enforcement, special task forces (STFs) have been formed to detect, identify, and take appropriate legal action against illegal immigrants residing in Manipur, police sources added.
