Marhaba adds Check-In Anywhere, Land & Leave to deliver end-to-end travel services

Zawya19-05-2025
Move comes as industry reports show rise in demand for innovative, seamless travel solutions
Dubai, UAE: marhaba, part of dnata and a leading global airport hospitality brand, has integrated services from DUBZ, the baggage technology and logistics company, into its expanding service portfolio.
The move creates one of the most comprehensive airport service offerings in the world enabling passengers flying from Dubai to check in and hand off their luggage remotely, fast-track through immigration, and relax in a lounge, all while experiencing marhaba's signature hospitality in one seamless booking.
As part of the integration, marhaba now offers three signature DUBZ services under its own umbrella:
Check-In Anywhere allows passengers to check in from the comforts of their home, hotel or office – where certified check-in agents will issue boarding passes and collect luggage, which is securely delivered to the airport
Land and Leave enables arriving passengers to skip baggage claim entirely, with their luggage delivered to their doorstep within hours of landing
Baggage Storage and Delivery offers travellers flexible short-term or extended baggage storage options, as well as secure same-day delivery across the UAE ideal for transit passengers, early checkouts or those looking to experience the city baggage-free
Check-In Anywhere and Land and Leave are now bookable directly via marhabaservices.com, with Baggage Storage and Delivery offered at designated service points in Dubai. Combined with its core offerings – including Meet & Greet and lounge access – these services position marhaba as one of the few global providers delivering a fully integrated hospitality journey that extends well beyond the airport terminal.
The announcement follows a significant uptick in demand for smarter airport experiences. According to IATA's most recent Global Passenger Survey, speed and convenience at airports remain a top priority among travellers around the world – some 70% of respondents said they would prefer checking in their luggage in advance to avoid long queues.
Since dnata acquired a majority stake in DUBZ in 2018, the service has seen consistent year-on-year growth – particularly among families, business travellers and premium passengers. In 2024 alone, DUBZ served over 70,000 passengers through its off-airport check-in, Land and Leave, and baggage storage and delivery services – marking a 15% growth compared to the previous year.
'We're seeing a fundamental shift in how people want to travel,' said Jaffar Dawood, Divisional Senior Vice President for UAE Airport Operations at dnata.
'Whether it's a family trying to simplify their departure or a business traveller looking to save time, the demand for seamless airport experiences has never been higher. With this integration, we're anticipating those needs and going beyond them. It's about removing friction and giving people back time and peace of mind.'
The move also comes as Dubai International (DXB) airport continues to scale new passenger records, with more than 92 million travellers passing through in 2024 – a figure projected to rise even further in the year ahead. As a response, airports worldwide are accelerating investments in off-airport processing technologies to streamline operations and enhance journeys.
Since launching in 1991, marhaba has served millions of customers across key international hubs, including Dubai. By bundling off-site check-in, meet & greet, fast-track clearance and other services, the company positions itself as a one-stop solution in the airport hospitality services market.

Watch: Kids arriving at DXB get souvenir 'passports' to help them explore city

As the summer heat intensifies in Dubai, crafting an engaging itinerary can be challenging for visitors, with most outdoor attractions becoming virtually inaccessible. To help those coming to the emirate make the best of their stay, Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has announced that children arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB) will receive souvenir 'passports' to help them navigate the vibrant city that thrives all year round. In a video shared by Dubai Media Office on X, kids arriving at Children's Passport Control are shown as they receive their passport from officers, shake hands with airport officials before getting their real travel documents stamped. Take a look here: Dialling up the excitement surrounding the #DubaiDestinations summer campaign, Brand Dubai and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs partner to highlight the very best of Dubaiâs summertime experiences for visitors. @BrandDubai | @GDRFADUBAI — Dubai Media Office (@DXBMediaOffice) July 25, 2025 The colourful passports serve as a guide for young visitors to explore the city, providing them with curated itineraries and interactive guides. By using a QR code in the passport, kids will be directed to Dubai Destinations website for guidance on where to go and what to do in Dubai this summer. The initiative is the fruit of collaboration between Brand Dubai and the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). Special immigration counters dedicated for children were set up at DXB Terminals 1, 2 and 3 in 2023 to make the arrival process 'more enjoyable and interactive' for children aged between 4 and 12. More than 550,000 children have passed through these counters since they were first opened, GDRFA announced last year.

UAE travelers plan island getaways to Madagascar, Phuket for affordable summer holidays

From the white sands of Seychelles to the serene beaches of Cyprus, island getaways have become the preferred choice for UAE residents this summer. According to the inaugural Expedia 2025 Island Hot List, global interest in island destinations has jumped by 30 per cent, with a surge from UAE-based travelers opting for nature-driven escapes over bustling city breaks. Expedia's data highlights a sharp increase in accommodation searches from UAE travelers to island destinations such as Madagascar (+265 percent), Phuket (+210 percent), Seychelles (+205 percent), Malta (+170 percent), and Cyprus (+140 percent). Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager at Wisefox Tourism said that more UAE residents are prioritising peace and wellness in their travel choices. 'People are no longer chasing jam-packed itineraries or big cities. Instead, they are looking for space, quiet, and natural beauty. Just relaxing at an island resort — that's become the new travel luxury,' said Subair. 'We have seen increase in bookings for secluded islands and boutique resorts where guests can simply disconnect. It's not about ticking off tourist spots anymore. Now it's about meaningful downtime and spending time with their loved ones.' Expedia's report aligns with what UAE travel agencies are observing — a shift in mindset, with travelers focusing more on emotional wellness, sustainability, and authentic local experiences.

UAE: Stablecoin regulations encourage more users explore digital assets safely

Experts are optimistic the recent signing by US President Donald Trump of the Genius Act — creating a regulatory regime for dollar-pegged cryptocurrencies known as stablecoins — will not only give users the confidence to explore digital assets safely but will also draw more users in the UAE, especially newcomers, to crypto by making stablecoins safer and more mainstream for payments and decentralised finance (DeFi). The stablecoin market, which crypto data provider CoinGecko said is valued at more than $260 billion (Dh954 billion), could grow to $2 trillion (Dh7.3 trillion) by 2028 under the new law. It's a milestone that could pave the way for digital assets to become an everyday way to make payments and move money, experts told KT LUXE. The regulatory framework is also seen as a big leap from the time of 'speculative chaos' when stablecoin first came into being back in 2009. The UAE has also moved forward with regulations of AED stablecoins, noted Meera Judge, director, regulatory licensing and policy at Binance. 'When people feel safe, they're more likely to participate. Clear rules create room for innovation — and that's where we see real adoption start to take shape,' she said. Regulations serve as important guardrails, with enhanced transparency serving as the key factor in consumer protection. They build confidence and encourage people who might have been hesitant to explore crypto as a real option for diversifying their finances. In December last year, AE Coin secured the final Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) licence it needed to launch. It was developed under the CBUAE's digital payment token services framework for instant, secure, stable, innovative, low-cost, and efficient payment experience. 'The UAE's AED-backed stablecoin is a really exciting milestone. It shows how seriously the UAE is taking decentralised finance and its future role in global financial innovation. This isn't just about creating another stablecoin, it's a clear signal of the UAE's commitment to building a regulated, forward-thinking crypto ecosystem that can compete on the world stage,' Judge said. A constant Stablecoins are designed to maintain a constant value. For the UAE, its focus on a local fiat-backed stablecoin also reflects a regional ambition to diversify beyond the dominance of the USD stablecoins, which have long been the industry's gateway. This is very positive for the country as it is not only about necessity but also about creating opportunity. Judge explained: 'Local fiat stablecoins (like AE Coin) reinforce the seriousness with which countries are approaching crypto regulation and innovation. They help tailor financial tools to regional needs, supporting local businesses and consumers while promoting financial inclusion. 'Moreover, having a wider range of fiat-backed stablecoins contributes to a more diverse and resilient ecosystem, a key step toward making crypto relevant and accessible to people everywhere, not just in dollar-dominated markets,' Judge added. Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, shared the same analysis, and optimism that stablecoins will draw more users, especially newcomers. She told KT LUXE: 'The UAE's AED stablecoin regulations, effective June 2025, focus on local currency stability and centralised oversight by the Central Bank, while the US Genius Act targets USD-pegged stablecoins with a dual federal-state framework. Regional trade 'Both aim to enhance trust and adoption, but the UAE emphasises regional financial sovereignty, unlike the USD-centric US approach. Non-USD stablecoins like AED-backed tokens are crucial for regional trade, reducing USD reliance, and catering to local markets, driving global crypto diversity. Supporting AED stablecoins can attract MENA users, while USD stablecoin compliance ensures broader market access,' Chen explained. She added bank-backed USD and AED stablecoins promise faster, cheaper transactions, boosting liquidity, but may challenge existing tokens like USDT (Tether), increasing compliance costs for exchanges. 'This could lead to market concentration, potentially limiting innovation, while subjecting exchanges to stricter regulatory scrutiny.' Chen also pointed out the entry of major US banks (JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo) and UAE banks (FAB, MBank, Zand Bank) into the stablecoin market will enhance crypto legitimacy, driving adoption and trading volumes on exchanges.
