Dismantle faulty AI traffic signal at Merces, PWD told
Panaji: The PWD has been directed to dismantle a wrongly positioned and defunct traffic signal near Merces junction by July 4, following sharp criticism at the North Goa District Road Safety Committee meeting held on Monday. The signal, part of a much-hyped AI-based traffic management system launched in March 2023 by Beltech AI Pvt Ltd, caused confusion among motorists due to its incorrect placement and months of non-functioning. Monday's action comes after the additional collector-I rejected the PWD's proposal to delay removal until fresh tender approvals were secured. Sources said the initial plan was to replace the signal under a new tender, but growing complaints forced the department's hand. 'Some motorists even threatened to file a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, for 'deficiency of service',' sources said. The district magistrate's office first flagged the issue this March, instructing the PWD to remove the non-functional signal that was out of order for over three months at the time, saying it 'will not serve any purpose'. Launched in March 2023, the AI traffic signal system was part of a pilot project to improve road safety through AI-enabled surveillance, automatic detection of traffic violations, challan generation, and traffic pattern analysis. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The initiative showed early signs of success — speeding violations dropped sharply from 5,265 in June 2023 to 1,891 by May 2024. Between June 1 and Dec 31, 2023, the system helped the traffic cell and transport department collect around Rs 2.2 crore in fines. From Jan to May 31, 2024, an additional Rs 48.6 lakh was collected, taking the total revenue generated to about Rs 2.7 crore. Despite its promising start, the system faced operational hiccups. A technical glitch in Feb and March 2024 halted its functioning, while the defunct signal near Merces emerged as a prominent irritant for motorists navigating the busy junction. Elon Musk declares war on Trump's GOP
What began as the most powerful political alliance in modern American history has spectacularly imploded. Elon Musk, who bankrolled Donald Trump's return to the White House with nearly $300 million in donations, is now threatening to destroy the very party he helped elect. At the centre of this explosive feud lies Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act"—a sprawling piece of legislation that would extend tax cuts, slash healthcare programmes, inflate defence spending, and ban AI regulation for a decade. The bill projects over $3 trillion in new debt, leaving even some Republicans once Trump's ultimate kingmaker, has branded the legislation "a disgusting abomination." The world's richest man didn't merely support Trump's presidency—he supercharged it. His America PAC received nearly $240 million, whilst his ownership of X transformed the platform into a Republican war room, amplifying pro-Trump content and throttling As reward for delivering the White House, Musk was handed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasked with cutting government waste. The irony wasn't lost on anyone when Trump's massive spending bill directly contradicted Musk's cost-cutting personal stakes are enormous. The legislation threatens Musk's empire directly—Tesla stands to lose over $1.2 billion as green energy tax credits vanish. His solar and battery ventures face significant blows if clean energy incentives response has been characteristically explosive. He's threatened to form a new "America Party," promising to primary every Republican who supports the bill. "Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!" he has responded with equal venom, targeting Musk's reliance on government subsidies: "Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa." In a particularly savage twist, Trump has suggested using DOGE to investigate Musk's own the Senate prepares to vote, America watches two titans of influence battle for the nation's future—leaving many wondering who truly runs the country, and who ultimately pays the price.- EndsMust Watch

"Don't Trust That Much": OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Admits ChatGPT Can Be Wrong
Don't place unwavering trust in ChatGPT, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has warned. Speaking on the company's newly launched official podcast, Altman cautioned users against over-relying on the AI tool, saying that despite its impressive capabilities, it still frequently got things wrong. "People have a very high degree of trust in ChatGPT, which is interesting because, like, AI hallucinates," Altman said during a conversation with author and technologist Andrew Mayne. "It should be the tech that you don't trust that much." The techie spoke of a fundamental limitation of large language models (LLMs) - their tendency to "hallucinate" or generate incorrect information. He said that users should approach ChatGPT with healthy scepticism, as they would with any emerging technology. Comparing ChatGPT with traditional platforms like web search or social media, he pointed out that those platforms often modify user experiences for monetisation. "You can kinda tell that you are being monetised," he said, adding that users should question whether content shown is truly in their best interest or tailored to drive ad engagement. Altman did acknowledge that OpenAI may eventually explore monetisation options, such as transaction fee or advertisements placed outside the AI's response stream. He made it clear that any such efforts must be fully transparent and never interfere with the integrity of the AI's answers. "The burden of proof there would have to be very high, and it would have to feel really useful to users and really clear that it was not messing with the LLM's output," he said. He warned that compromising the integrity of ChatGPT's responses for commercial gain would be a "trust destroying moment." "If we started modifying the output, like the stream that comes back from the LLM, in exchange for who is paying us more, that would feel really bad. And I would hate that as a user," Altman said. Earlier this year, Sam Altman admitted that recent updates had made ChatGPT overly sycophantic and "annoying," following a wave of user complaints. The issue began after the GPT-4o model was updated to enhance both intelligence and personality, aiming to improve the overall user experience. The changes made the chatbot overly agreeable, leading some users to describe it as a "yes-man" rather than a thoughtful AI assistant.
