Giddy To Run Trophy Series Ahead Of Second GR86 Campaign
The 14-year-old Orewa College student was the youngest competitor in the championship last season and indeed one of the youngest ever competitors in any Toyota series in New Zealand.
He showed immense promise too, occasionally topping the timesheets in practice, qualifying third at the final round at the recent Supercars event before taking a fourth place and second place finish over the weekend.
He's now looking to maintain that momentum and get more track time and more knowledge of the Bridgestone tyre ahead of next season.
The Mackenzie Motorsport-run driver cannot win the Trophy Series as a current Bridgestone GR86 Championship competitor, but he can win the Winter Series class and take race wins and podiums.
'I think this will be a really good series to help me continue to improve my race craft,' he said.
'Time in the seat on any of the tracks is always so beneficial no matter what car you are driving and the TR86 is also a fun car to drive.
'It's also a great opportunity to stay current and prepare for the next season of GR86 Series at the end of the year which I really want to do well in.'

Season Two Dates Locked In For Bridgestone GR86 Championship
Dates for the second season of the Bridgestone GR86 Championship are locked and loaded for 2025 and 2026 and it promises to be another thrilling season for drivers in New Zealand's leading one make, one model championship. The six-round championship – which will once again run as a featured category in the NextGen national championship series, includes two dates at Hampton Downs, a weekend at Toyota NZ's 'home circuit' of Manfeild, the South Island leg of Teretonga followed by the 70th New Zealand Grand Prix meeting at Highlands and will conclude once again with the Supercars round at Taupo Motorsport Park. The season blasts off at the end of October with the first round at Hampton Downs before a break until the 9th – 11th January when its back to the North Waikato circuit, for its second weekend on the 'long' track. The championship heads south two weeks later for the double header at Teretonga (23-25 January) and the Grand Prix meeting at Highlands the following weekend. It's back to the North Island for the final two rounds, with Manfeild February 27th- March 1st and the the big finale at the Taupo Supercars weekend, April 10-12. A full grid was a huge feature of the inaugural year of the championship – won in style by Hugo Allan - and with dates confirmed early, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand are again hoping for a full field of 20 plus cars. 'Last season's racing was closer than ever and produced great racing and a huge variety of winners and drivers who scored a podium result,' commented category manager Amanda Tollemache. South Island Supercars dates locked in
The date for the Christchurch leg of the Repco Supercars Championship has been locked in for next year. The Supercars will race in Taupō from April 10–12, followed by the inaugural South Island round at Ruapuna from April 17–19, delivering the first-ever New Zealand double header in the championship's history. The Taupō event will mark the Supercars' third visit to the North Island circuit, before the action shifts south to Christchurch for the long-awaited debut of Supercars in the South Island. The confirmation of dates follows Supercars' announcement that Taupō and Ruapuna will share hosting duties for the next three years (2026–2028), ensuring Kiwi fans on both islands can experience world-class motorsport on home soil. Supercars chief executive Shane Howard said the double header will become a highlight of the annual calendar. 'We are thrilled to officially confirm the dates for our inaugural New Zealand Double Header,' Howard said. 'Kicking off in Taupō and finishing in Christchurch, this is a major milestone for Supercars and a huge win for our fans and partners in Aotearoa. 'We saw over 67,000 fans attend our return to Taupō in 2024, and we're excited to build on that success by bringing the Championship to the South Island for the very first time.
