Why Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall is sick and tired of the Lachlan Galvin saga - 'why would I care what people say'
A testy Benji Marshall has declared he doesn't care if people query his surprise decision to recall Lachie Galvin, side-stepping questions as to whether the five-eighth had regained trust at the Wests Tigers.
Coach Marshall is 'sick of talking' about the saga that began earlier this month when the Tigers announced generational talent Galvin had declined to review their offer of a contract extension.
The rejection triggered public ridicule from teammates on social media and has meant the man touted as a linchpin of the club's rebuild will leave after 2026 - if not sooner.
In consultation with senior players, Marshall last week dropped the 19-year-old prodigy, claiming he needed to regain the playing group's trust and respect.
Marshall was non-committal as to whether Galvin had done that after playing reserve grade for Western Suburbs.
'Yeah, look, I'm just focused on the game, really, to be honest,' the coach said ahead of Sunday's clash with Cronulla at Leichhardt Oval.

'I'm sick of talking about that (the Galvin saga). I've said it every week, I'll pick the team that I think is best.
'I know everyone wants to talk about all of these things, but we are moving on to the game. That's our focus.'
Pressed as to what he would say to those questioning the sudden change of heart, the 2005 premiership hero was terse.
'Why would I care what people say?' he responded.
'Everyone wants to know why (I decided to recall him). I pick the team, you don't need to know why.
'This is the team I've picked that I think is best for us this week and we'll go with it.'
Marshall is hopeful Galvin will not be booed by the Tigers' home crowd on Sunday given almost two weeks have passed since news of his impending exit broke.
'Pretty positive, I'd say,' Marshall said of Galvin's anticipated reception.
'The dust has settled a bit since last week so we're just going to get behind him, we're expecting him to do his usual thing and play the way he plays.
'If he sets up a try early or scores one, that will help.'
The Tigers fell to wooden spoon favourites Parramatta in Galvin's absence on Easter Monday, notably leaking three tries in six minutes just after half-time.
Marshall did not expect emotions to be running so high this weekend at Leichhardt Oval.
'Last week with all the distractions and up and downs of what happened, everyone can just chill now and just play,' he said.
'No doubt last week was a big week for everyone so just move on and get on with our footy.'
The Tigers gave Galvin the option to take last weekend off rather than play reserve grade - but he was eager to front up.
For all the divide between the club and Galvin's agent, Isaac Moses, Galvin has impressed Marshall since his decision to reject the contract offer.
'He's handled it incredibly well, given his age. To go through all this stuff and be so public with everything, it's quite hectic for him but he handled it really well,' Marshall said.
'He tried really hard (in reserve grade) and had a really good attitude and we want him to do that for us on Sunday.'

Kerr Reynolds completes Hull City medical ahead of move from Hamilton Accies
The 16-year-old is heading to the Tigers after impressing the English Championship side Hamilton Accies youngster Kerr Reynolds has completed his medical at Hull City ahead of finalising a move down south. Lanarkshire Live Sport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that League One Accies were in negotiations with the English Championship side and a deal for a significant fee plus add-ons was close to completion. Now the 16-year-old has passed his medical and will complete his move shortly. Accies will collect a minimum of £75,000 from the standard training compensation fee and it is understood there are significant add ons that the club will pick up for certain appearance milestones. Swansea City's rivals make major move in pursuit of Lewis O'Brien as bid on table
Swansea City's rivals make major move in pursuit of Lewis O'Brien as bid on table The midfielder is a man in demand this summer Lewis O'Brien (Image: Ashley Crowden/REX/Shutterstock ) Hull City have launched a bid for in-demand midfielder Lewis O'Brien, dealing a potentially devastating blow to Swansea City's hopes of a return. Sources have told WalesOnline that the Tigers have made a bid of around £5m for the Nottingham Forest man, although they aren't the only ones to have made an offer, with a bid from another unnamed Championship club also believed to be on the table. A host of clubs have taken an interest in O'Brien, who enjoyed a hugely successful six-month loan spell with the Swans last season, playing every game under Luke Williams and then Alan Sheehan. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here. In all, O'Brien made 16 appearances for the Swans, scoring one goal. Birmingham City, Southampton, Preston North End and Spanish giants Valencia have all shown an interest in recent weeks, but it seems the Tigers are now pushing hardest to get a deal done, with owner Acun Ilıcalı believed to be particularly keen. Swansea were as recently as this week believed to still be genuine contenders to sign the 26-year-old, and it's understood they were open to the possibility of exploring a permanent deal rather than another loan. But their chances of getting a deal over the line now look to be fading given the amounts of money involved. Article continues below It's understood O'Brien may also want to move up north for family reasons, which could potentially strengthen Hull's hand. Nevertheless, the news will likely come as a disappointment to the Swans, who had clearly remained hopeful that a deal could be done. When quizzed on the possibility of bringing O'Brien back, director of football Richard Montague said earlier this month: "We have had good conversations with Forest. "They were really good to deal with last season, they sent us a really nice message to thank us for how well Lewis did with us, which was great to receive. "We have a good dialogue with them. The ball is a little bit in their court at the moment because of Lewis' contract situation. He is on a Premier League salary and there needs to be some give in some sense to make it work for us. "But it's definitely an option that's still on the table. Article continues below "We are talking to Lewis and having good conversations with Forest. We would love to be able to do something. "It's just timing and matching it all up with the financial realities."
