Roll ball: Goan physio Artura basks in India's Jr World Cup triumphs
Panaji: Not many make it to the World Cup, and only a handful triumph.
In her first major sports assignment, Artura Domanda Da Costa thought she was fortunate enough to just be at the 1st Junior Roll Ball World Cup, but it turned out to be an enormous success story as India achieved a historic double at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
For what many take a lifetime, the Goan physiotherapist achieved in a matter of days as India junior boys defeated Kenya 5-1, and the girls blanked the hosts 5-0 in dominant performances on the world stage.
'It was an incredible honour to be part of such a historic event,' said Artura. 'Supporting both teams and witnessing them lift the trophy was a proud and unforgettable moment.'
Artura was appointed as the team physio for both national teams.
She played a crucial role in injury management, recovery strategies, and overall athlete care throughout the event.
'India's clean sweep at the inaugural World Cup was not just a testament to the talent of its young athletes, but also to the dedicated team of professionals who stood beside them every step of the way,' said Artura.
A combination of hockey and basketball on in-line skates, roll ball is played in over 60 countries.

India were the favourites to triumph, given previous performances at the senior level. Originating in Pune, roll ball is a sport invented by an Indian school teacher in 2003.
Based in Varca, Artura is an alumnus of Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao, and completed her bachelor's in physiotherapy from Dr. M.V. Shetty College of Physiotherapy, Mangaluru. She is currently pursuing her final year of Master's in Sports Physiotherapy at KLE Institute of Physiotherapy.
The World Cup journey for Artura began with a 15-day training camp at Balewadi, Pune, where the teams trained intensively under the guidance of coach Rajashekar V (boy) and Hemangini Kale (girls).
'Our college is associated with a roll ball club, and when there was a need for a physiotherapist, they contacted us. This turned out to be a memorable experience,' said Artura, whose previous sporting experience was working with football teams in Belgaum.
Artura was also part of the physiotherapy team for the National Games in Goa.

NHL Trade Rumors: Dougie Hamilton's future in doubt as Devils quietly seek trade partners
Devils are reportedly exploring trade options for veteran defenseman Dougie Hamilton (Image via AP) The New Jersey Devils may be preparing for a major shake-up on their blue line, with reports indicating the team is actively exploring trade possibilities for veteran defenseman Dougie Hamilton. The 32-year-old still has three years remaining on his seven-year, $63 million contract, which now includes a modified no-movement clause that could make him more moveable than before. Dougie Hamilton's no-move clause shifts, opening trade window for Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke the story during Sunday's episode of 32 Thoughts, revealing that Dougie Hamilton's name is 'kind of out there' in trade circles. The Devils, according to Friedman, have already initiated conversations with a few teams. 'The next biggest question for the Devils is Dougie Hamilton. He went from a full no move clause to a partial no trade,' Friedman said. 'I'm curious to see what happens. I don't have a great feel for it, in terms of percentage chances that anything occurs with him, but I know that his name was kind of out there a little bit and I had heard that they had been talking to a couple of teams.' The Season Finale | 32 Thoughts Hamilton's modified clause now allows the Devils to trade him to 22 of 32 teams—offering considerably more flexibility than before. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like So sicherst du dir bessere Chancen bei der Wohnungssuche! ImmoScout24 Mehr erfahren Undo This adjustment will remain in place through the 2027–28 season. Dougie Hamilton's performance solid, but Devils may be eyeing a new direction Last season, Hamilton played 64 regular-season games, notching 9 goals and 31 assists for 40 points while posting a +8 rating. In the playoffs, he registered two assists in five games, logging over 25 minutes per night and peaking at 31:16 of ice time in Game 3 against Carolina. Despite his efforts, the Devils exited the postseason in five games. With his high cap hit of $9 million annually, the Devils may be looking to reallocate resources or adjust their defensive core as they continue to fine-tune their roster. Meanwhile, they've extended goalie Jake Allen and added forwards Connor Brown, Evgenii Dadonov, and Cody Glass—moves that indicate New Jersey is quietly restructuring for both immediate impact and future flexibility. Mikael Granlund shocks NHL fans with blunt Ducks comments after surprise free agency move
Anaheim Ducks made a surprising move by signing veteran forward Mikael Granlund (Image via AP) The Anaheim Ducks pulled off one of the more surprising free-agent moves of the offseason by signing veteran forward Mikael Granlund—without much warning or prior buzz. While the 32-year-old wasn't heavily linked to Anaheim in the lead-up to free agency, the team moved quickly to bring him in, signaling a shift in their mindset: from rebuilding to chasing wins. Mikael Granlund praises Anaheim's new direction under Joel Quenneville 's leadership Mikael Granlund's comments following his signing raised eyebrows across the league, not because of drama, but because of what they revealed about the Ducks' internal ambitions. Speaking to the media, Granlund emphasized that Anaheim is no longer just developing young talent—it's preparing to win now. "I haven't played a game with the team yet, so I'm sure understanding about that will be way better when the season actually starts,' Granlund said. 'But I've talked to people and I think they took a really big step last year with some of the new players that are coming in. With Coach Q coming in, I really feel like it's like, 'OK, now we are taking the next step and it's not about just growing players and learning. It's about starting to win some hockey games. So that's really encouraging and that's why I'm really excited about it.'" The mention of Joel Quenneville—returning to the NHL bench after years away—was particularly striking. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 월 2만원으로 아이들의 한끼 선물하기 굿네이버스 더 알아보기 Undo His hiring adds veteran gravitas to a locker room filled with promising talent like Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, and Lukas Dostal. Granlund's 2024–25 season with the Dallas Stars was limited to just 31 games, but he still managed to produce 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists). Anaheim is betting that, if he can stay healthy, he'll be a valuable middle-six contributor who can mentor younger teammates while delivering reliable offense. Also Read: Toronto Maple Leafs accused of downgrading as Nino Niederreiter pitched as Mitch Marner's replacement His signing may have flown under the radar, but if Anaheim continues to make bold moves like this—and Granlund lives up to his veteran pedigree—this could go down as one of the smartest pickups of the offseason. Anaheim isn't just talking about turning a corner. With Granlund and Quenneville onboard, they're sprinting toward it. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. LeBron James tried golf and the internet is shocked by what his swing looks like next to Charles Barkley's
LeBron James' nascent golf swing is drawing unflattering comparisons to Charles Barkley's notoriously awkward form. After James shared a video of his stiff, arm-heavy swing, the internet quickly erupted with jokes and critiques. While it's only Day 2 of his golf journey, some are already suggesting James' swing might rival Barkley's infamous struggles on the green. It was only Day 2 of LeBron James' golf journey, but the internet wasn't feeling generous. After sharing a stiff, arm-heavy swing on July 4, fans instantly compared him to none other than Charles Barkley—golf's most legendary disaster. The clip went viral, the jokes rolled in, and suddenly LeBron's greatness on the court meant nothing on the green. Could he really be worse than Chuck? That's what everyone's asking. LeBron James' day 2 golf debut sparks instant Charles Barkley comparisons LeBron shared his most recent swing on July 4, describing golf as "a mind f**k to say the least." The video shows a rigid, arm-dominant motion with very little wrist movement, leading fans to compare it to Charles Barkley's well-known mid-swing hitch. One social media post even straightforwardly remarked that the swing 'draws comparisons to NBA legend Charles Barkley's famously awkward form'. LeBron James tried golf and the internet is shocked by what his swing looks like next to Charles Barkley's (Image Source: Instagram) Charles Barkley kicked off his golf journey in the early 1990s with a lot of promise—he had a single-digit handicap and often shot below 80. However, after he began taking numerous lessons, his swing fell apart in the mid-90s, spiraling from sub-80 rounds to over 100 strokes. His swing became a spectacle of awkward pauses and spasms. It got so infamous that even Tiger Woods made fun of it, and coaches like Hank Haney tried to fix it on camera in The Haney Project. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 7 All-Inclusive Destinations That Accept Credit Card Rewards Liseer Learn More Undo At 40, LeBron is still one of the top basketball players, but golf is a whole different challenge. In his Instagram post, he confessed it was only Day 2 and hinted that getting the hang of golf would be a lengthy and humbling journey. Even though he produced a good drive distance, reviewers pointed out that his swing was too stiff, driven by his arms, and didn't have the smooth wrist action needed—making it a recipe for awkward moments and memes. The internet jumped right in. While it's widely accepted that Barkley is the cringe king of golf swings, a lot of folks joked that LeBron's form "might actually be worse." One poll showed that people rated LeBron's swing as "Better than Barkley's"—but just barely. Comments like "That swing is worse than anything Barkley ever did" are coming in hot.
