Anti-Iran war protest in Washington, DC today? Here's what we know about national march
Following President Donald Trump announced US airstrikes on Iran, a coalition of anti-war, Iranian, and Palestinian organisations came together to call for a national protest in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 28. But with a ceasefire now in place, organizers have announced that the mass mobilization is being suspended for now. Large-scale barricades were set up around the White House and the U.S. Treasury building amid rumors of a national march protest on June 28.(REUTERS)
While the march has been postponed, the organizers have said they are on high alert and will remobilize if the conflict escalates again. What did protesters demand?
The national march was meant to gain national attention in light of tensions looming large in the Middle East. Protesters were set to demand an immediate cessation of US military action against Iran and an end to US support for Israel's military operation. Many feared the bombing was a misguided aggression that could escalate into a larger and deadlier war.

The protest was being organized by the ANSWER Coalition, National Iranian-American Council, Palestinian Youth Movement, The People's Forum, CODEPINK, Democratic Socialists of America among many other organizations.
The coalition was calling for a massive turnout to deliver a clear message to the White House: Stop the war before it spreads.
However, videos on social media show construction crews erecting large anti-scale barricades around the White House and the US Treasury building. Netizens suggest the barricades and security could be related to July 4 celebrations; others speculate about the National March protest. Donald Trump announced ceasefire
Trump announced the ceasefire between Israel and Iran on Truth Social. 'CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World.'
'During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, 'THE 12 DAY WAR.' This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn't, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!' Trump added.

Trump backs Bibi again, says Netanyahu corruption trial a 'political witch hunt'
US President Donald Trump has once again backed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid the ongoing corruption trial against him. Taking to Truth Social on Sunday, the US president called the trials against the Likud leader "a political witch hunt." This is not the first time Trump has backed Netanyahu and called for the cancellation of the corruption trial against the Israeli prime minister.(AP) Trump further slammed prosecutors for their "terrible trial" against Bibi Netanyahu. "He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran," he wrote on Truth Social. "How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.). It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure. This travesty of 'Justice' will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations. In other words, it is INSANITY doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu. The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this. We just had a Great Victory with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the helm — And this greatly tarnishes our Victory. LET BIBI GO, HE'S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!" Trump added further. This is not the first time Trump has slammed the trial against Netanyahu. Last week, Trump issued a similar statement after the ceasefire between Israel and Iran was implemented. What is the case against Netanyahu? Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing multiple corruption charges. The cases, first filed in 2019, allege the Israeli leader of bribery, fraud and breach of trust. If found guilty, Netanyahu could face up to 10 years in prison. Under Case 1000, Netanyahu and his wife Sara have been accused of receiving lavish gifts worth $192,000 from businessmen in exchange for political favours. For Case 2000, Netanyahu has been accused of breach of trust by striking a deal with Arnon Moses, the owner of the daily newspaper, for favourable coverage to limit the growth of political rival - Israel Hayom. In Case 4000, Netanyahu has been accused of granting favours, such as mergers and financial gains, to Israeli telecom company Bezeq to ensure positive coverage of him and his wife on the news website controlled by the former chairman of the company. Netanyahu has denied all charges against him and described the allegations as a "witch hunt" against him.

Trump defends Netanyahu as Israel PM faces corruption charges: ‘Not going to stand for this'
President Donald Trump on Saturday declared that the United States would "not stand by" as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to face prosecution on corruption charges. He posted on Truth Social, "The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this." On Friday, an Israeli court denied Prime Minister Netanyahu's request to delay his testimony in his ongoing corruption trial, stating that he failed to present sufficient grounds for the postponement. In one of the cases, Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, are alleged to have received over $260,000 in luxury items—including cigars, jewelry, and champagne—from wealthy businessmen in return for political favors. In two other cases, Netanyahu is accused of attempting to negotiate more favorable coverage from two Israeli media outlets. Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing and has thanked Trump for his support in Israel's war with Iran, which saw a ceasefire agreement earlier this week.

Trump slams Israel's prosecutors over Netanyahu corruption trial
U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday (June 28, 2025) criticised Israel's prosecutors over an ongoing corruption trial against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it was interfering with his ability to conduct talks with both Hamas and Iran. In a post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump also suggested that, given the billions of dollars worth of military aid Washington was providing to Israel, it was not going to "stand for this." Earlier, an Israeli court on Friday (June 27, 2025) rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request to postpone giving testimony in his corruption trial, after U.S. President Donald Trump said the case should be cancelled. The Jerusalem district court said in a judgement published online that 'in its current form, (his request) does not provide a basis or detailed justification for the cancellation of the hearings'.
