Letherbarrow, 25, of Anna Bay, who is represented by solicitor Kristy Wade, had pleaded not guilty to negligent driving over the crash, two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and possession of a prohibited drug and was expected to face a hearing in Raymond Terrace Local Court.
But he changed his pleas on Thursday and admitted to supplying methamphetamine and MDMA and possession of cannabis in relation to the drugs found in the bag after the crash.
Letherbarrow remains behind bars and will be sentenced on August 27.
According to court documents, Letherbarrow was driving a Toyota HiLux along Nelson Bay Road at Anna Bay in raining conditions about 2pm on March 6 when he lost control and hit a power pole.
He wasn't injured, but a passerby decided to call triple-zero to report the accident.
Police arrived a short time later and spotted Letherbarrow walking out of the bushes on the other side of the car.
Police checks returned multiple warnings for Letherbarrow and he appeared "fidgeting and nervous".
And it was when police walked around to where Letherbarrow had come out of the bushes that they spotted a Gucci bag under a nearby tree.
Despite the rain, the bag wasn't wet, police said.
It looked clean and new and police thought it hadn't been there long and perhaps Letherbarrow had quickly grabbed it from the car and stashed it under the tree before police arrived.
Police searched the bag and found 36 grams of cannabis and other larger quantities of methamphetamine and what turned out to be MDMA.
As well as the drugs, police found a mobile phone and a bottle of prescription medication that had Letherbarrow's name on it.
Police went back to where Letherbarrow was standing and were in the process of cautioning and questioning him about the drugs when the 25-year-old suddenly grabbed the bag and ran from police.
He took off across the four lanes of Nelson Bay Road and into a paddock, throwing items out of the bag as he ran.
Police gave chase as Letherbarrow attempted to evade them before officers caught up to him and they began to wrestle in the paddock.
Letherbarrow, who had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting arrest, tried to overpower police, but officers gained control and handcuffed him.
He was taken back to Nelson Bay police station and declined to be interviewed.

The son of notorious criminal "Chopper Read" has been sentenced to more jail time for breaking into a woman's unit and threatening her with a gun. The court heard that while Read's mother had been a good influence on him, his father was a "notorious criminal" and his life had been impacted by that fact. "He died in 2014, but not before introducing you to a high-level criminal lifestyle," the court heard in sentencing. "You have been abusing alcohol and various illicit drugs since you were young, including methylamphetamine, heroin, cannabis and MDMA." Justice Escourt said it was likely Read would be moved to minimum security and have the benefit of a drug and alcohol counselling program. He is currently working every day at the prison as a yardsman and a landscaper. Read was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, to start at the end of any sentence he is currently serving. The last 12 months of that sentence were suspended on condition that he commit no offence punishable by imprisonment for a period of 12 months after his release from prison. Read will not to be eligible for parole until he has served half of the custodial portion of my sentence. Man charged with Aldinga Beach house arson attack

A man has been arrested and will face court after repeated arson attacks on a home and two cars in Aldinga Beach. The 20-year-old Davoren Park man has been charged with four counts of arson and one counts of failing to truly identify the driver of a vehicle after police attended an Angle Vale property on Tuesday. His arrest follows investigations into multiple fires at a Pebble Court address in Aldinga Beach earlier this month. Police attended on July 15 around 1.15am after an allegedly stolen Kia sedan was reversed into the driveway of a home and crashed into the garage door. The vehicle was then set alight and subsequently rolled out of the driveway, crossing over the road to two neighbouring properties where it caused further damage to a fence and pergola, police said. Crime Gangs Task Force investigators identified a second car allegedly seen travelling to Aldinga Beach in convoy with the Kia. On Tuesday police located the registered owner of the white 2015 Toyota HiLux at an Angle Vale property – and arrested the 20-year-old man at the home. The vehicle has been seized along with other alleged evidence. Residents of the street told The Advertiser a second fire had broken out on Saturday, July 19, with a third fire starting around 1am on July 21. The third fire gutted the family home, but around 30 firefighters were able to contain the blaze that caused an estimated $200,000 damage before neighbouring homes were damaged. Six teens were later arrested over the two subsequent blazes after an epic 70km police pursuit that ended in Two Wells, north of Adelaide. Young crash victim identified as Scotsman who moved to WA
A Scotsman and former Royal Marine who moved to WA last year has been revealed as the young driver who died in a crash near Coral Bay on Sunday morning. James Robert Reynolds, 25, was behind the wheel of a Toyota HiLux utility when it collided with a Volkswagen T-Cross station sedan on Coral Bay Road, Lyndon, about 9.30am. Mr Reynolds was critically injured and died after being rushed to Coral Bay Nursing post. His 25-year-old female passenger received minor injuries in the crash, before being taken to the same facility. The 50-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the Daily Record, Mr Reynolds was in the Royal Marines for six years — an elite section of the United Kingdom's navy — after leaving school in Scotland. James Robert Reynolds died in a crash east of Coral Bay on Sunday morning. ` Unknown Credit: Unknown / Facebook Mr Reynolds had moved to Australia just last year before taking up a job as a mechanical fitter. His heartbroken mother, Kerry Renolds, said 'we are all absolutely broken' when sharing a post announcing her son's death on Monday. Her post has gathered more than 600 comments from people extending their condolences. The post said Mr Reynolds leaves behind his mother Kerry, two siblings and his 'partner and best-friend' Katie. Tributes online described Mr Reynolds as 'one of the best' and the 'loveliest guy'.
