Here's what to know about the holiday and how Muslims observe it: The Hijri New Year will begin around Thursday This Hijri New Year is expected to fall on or around June 26, ushering in the year 1447 A.H. (which stands for "anno hegirae" or "the year of the Hijrah" in Latin). The exact date can vary depending on when regional Islamic authorities see the crescent moon. Because the Hijri calendar is lunar, the dates of Islamic months and holidays — such as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr — change annually. The new year corresponds with the first sighting of the crescent moon during Muharram, the first of 12 months in the Hijri calendar. Israeli Enemy Kidnaps Lebanese Fisherman
The Israeli occupation army renewed on Wednesday its violation of Lebanese sovereignty and the ceasefire agreement, including UN Resolution 1701. Israeli naval forces kidnapped a Lebanese fisherman in Lebanon's territorial waters on Wednesday, local media said. Israeli gunboats breached Lebanon's maritime boundaries and surrounded a fishing vessel carrying two individuals near Naqoura, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported. One of the fishermen was held by Israeli occupation forces and transported to 'Israel', while the second was let free, NNA said. According to NNA, the second fisherman was questioned by the Lebanese military intelligence before being released. National News Agency also reported that Israeli enemy forces fired machine gun bursts towards the outskirts of the town of Shebaa. An Israeli glider dropped bombs on a bulldozer in Yaroun town, South Lebanon. A Zionist drone, furthermore, flew intensively over Beirut's Dahieh.

Over 72,000 migrants dead, disappeared globally since 2014: UN
NNA - More than 72,000 deaths and disappearances have been documented along migration routes around the world in the past decade, most of them in crisis-affected countries, the United Nations said on Tuesday. Last year saw the highest migrant death toll on record, with at least 8,938 people dying on migration routes, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). "These numbers are a tragic reminder that people risk their lives when insecurity, lack of opportunity, and other pressures leave them with no safe or viable options at home," IOM chief Amy Pope said in a statement. The report by her UN agency found that nearly three-quarters of all migrant deaths and disappearances recorded globally since 2014 occurred as people fled insecurity, conflict, disaster and other humanitarian crises. One in four were "from countries affected by humanitarian crises, with the deaths of thousands of Afghans, Rohingya, and Syrians documented on migration routes worldwide", said the IOM's Missing Migrants Report. The report said that more than 52,000 people died while trying to escape from one of the 40 countries in the world where the UN has a crisis response plan or humanitarian response plan in place. Pope urged international investment "to create stability and opportunity within communities, so that migration is a choice, not a necessity".
