Terry McLaurin reportedly requests trade amid contract dispute with commanders
Two-time Pro Bowl receiver Terry McLaurin has reportedly asked the Washington Commanders to trade him due to an ongoing contract dispute. McLaurin reported to training camp Sunday after missing the first four practices and parts of the offseason program, but he's currently on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with an ankle injury.According to ESPN, McLaurin may no longer face the $50,000-per-day fine since he has reported now.Despite his hold-in, the 28-year-old is coming off a stellar 2024 season, posting 82 receptions for 1,096 yards and a career-best 13 touchdowns - earning second-team All-Pro honors.
The Commanders, who reached the NFC Championship Game last season under rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and first-year head coach Dan Quinn, have high expectations heading into 2025.
They bolstered their offense further by acquiring star wideout Deebo Samuel, who himself once demanded a trade from the 49ers before ultimately landing a new deal - and now a new team.
McLaurin's situation mirrors those of other NFL stars in recent years, including Lamar Jackson, Myles Garrett, and Brandon Aiyuk - all of whom voiced dissatisfaction with contracts but remained with their teams after negotiations.Whether Washington chooses to part ways with McLaurin or resolves the dispute with a new deal remains to be seen, but his request adds a new wrinkle to the Commanders' push to unseat the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

Siraj's nine-wicket match haul not only earned him the 'Player of the Match' award but also widespread acclaim from fans and former cricketers. "Let's celebrate Mohammed Siraj. He's leading the bowling charts with 22 wickets," Ashwin said. "What made me so happy about Siraj's performance is this—during the T20 World Cup, he praised Jasprit Bumrah saying, 'Jassi bhai is magic.' But today, it wasn't Jassi bhai, it was Miyaan bhai who was truly instrumental in helping India level the series." Ben Stokes press conference: On Mohammed Siraj, Chris Woakes batting with injury, 2-2 result "We won both Tests without Bumrah. Siraj led the attack. Akash Deep took 10 wickets at Edgbaston, but this Test belongs to Siraj, and he's finally getting the credit he deserves. We need to celebrate him more." "The cricketing gods have been fair to him. Even when he gets it wrong, he never stops charging in. He's bowled consistently close to 140 kmph across five Tests. It would have been easy to walk off with niggles, but he never took a comfort break. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play this game for 1 minute and see why everyone is addicted. IND vs ENG: Mohammed Siraj bowled lot of overs for a 5-Test series
India's Mohammed Siraj, right, reacts after bowls a delivery on day four of the fifth cricket test match between England and India at The Kia Oval in London, Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025. (AP Photo/Kirsty Wigglesworth) Chennai: England may have let themselves down by allowing India to draw the series from a winning position. But according to Australian whiteball allrounder Marcus Stoinis, that will not impact Ben Stokes' team come the Ashes later this year. 'They (England) have very talented players, and it will be interesting to see the style of cricket they play against Australia in the Ashes. I do not know what the pitches will be like, but I think they will be able to work out the plan that will be necessary to be competitive. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Stoinis also had a word of praise for Mohammed Siraj, who played a big role in India's victory at The Oval on Monday. 'Siraj has just played a great five-Test series for India, bowled a lot of overs and done really well,' the allrounder said. Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj press conference: India stars answer all questions Stoinis is looking forward to working with Rockets coach Andy Flower, who guided RCB to their first IPL win earlier this year. 'Andy's had a very successful coaching reign for a long time now and the experience he has got is immense. His ability to work with a variety of set-ups and develop his own blueprint for building a winning culture quickly in itself is a valuable skill in T20s,' Stoinis said. 'We only got together yesterday (Sunday) for the first time, and the tournament will be over in about 29 days. So, you have to get up and running really quickly. I think having a head coach like Andy, someone who has been around and understands that dynamic and how to build a team quickly, is a big reason why he is such a sought-after coach.' Having failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last two years, Season 2 champions Trent Rockets will look to turn things around. 'We (players) shared some thoughts on the style of cricket we want to play, the type of environment we want in the changing rooms. There are a few familiar faces in the coaching staff and in the playing crew. I am looking forward to getting out to train and seeing the boys have a crack,' Stoinis added.
