Lamborghini Hints at a Rear-Wheel-Drive Temerario: 'A Different Kind of Hybridization'
But Lamborghini began embracing rear-wheel drive near the end of the Gallardo's run. For the Huracan, the company would offer rear-drive in both base models and specials like the STO and Tecnica. Soon,
the Temerario
could follow in the same footsteps.
Speaking to the UK's
Car
magazine
at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lamborghini CTO Rouven Mohr hinted at a rear-wheel drive Temerario. "I'm not saying in the future you couldn't see a [two-wheel drive] version of the street car, and then perhaps a different kind of hybridization," he said.

Currently, the Temerario is only offered as an all-wheel drive hybrid. It has a mid-mounted, twin-turbo V-8 and an electric motor driving the wheels, with two additional motors for the front wheels. In theory, it seems Lamborghini could delete the front motors, leaving just the V-8 and single rear electric motor.
A car like this could still be very powerful—the engine on its own makes 789 horsepower, and the electric motor is capable of 147 hp. In its current all-wheel drive iteration, the Temerario makes 920 hp, as the engine and electric motors make peak power at different points.
Car
seemed to suggest to Mohr that a rear-drive hybrid Temerario may not need a battery as large as the all-wheel drive car's 3.8-kilowatt-hour unit, and that it might not need to be a plug-in hybrid either. "This [sort of hybrid] is already available today," he said, referencing the Porsche 911's hybrid system. He called it a "super example of a completely different hybrid approach."

The
911's hybrid system
is pretty different than what Lamborghini may do, however. Porsche uses an internal-combustion engine designed around an
electric turbocharger
, whereas the new Lamborghini V-8 uses conventional turbos.
While Mohr didn't confirm anything, we'd be shocked if we didn't see a rear-drive Temerario. Lamborghini tends to keep its models in production for a long time, introducing many variants to keep things fresh. Rear-wheel drive supercars are also a well-established part of its business now, and the prospect of a lighter, simpler Temerario has us excited.
But don't expect to see a non-hybrid version. Lamborghini
just revealed the Temerario GT3 race car
, which deletes the hybrid system to comply with current GT3 regulations, but Mohr says he "wouldn't bet" on a non-hybrid street car. That said, he doesn't completely rule out the possibility—but the reality of current emissions regulations makes building such a car unrealistic.

BOE's Bailey Urges ‘Global Cooperation and Engagement' at G-20
Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey pressed the world's most powerful finance officials to embrace 'global cooperation and engagement' at a Group of 20 meeting that has been marred by the absence of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. In his first dispatch to G-20 finance ministers and central bank governors as chair of the Financial Stability Board, Bailey noted the fraught backdrop. Economic and geopolitical tensions have increased, he said, while global debt vulnerabilities remain high and uncertainty continues to 'weigh on growth expectations.'

World's Top Cable Maker Prysmian Cheers Trump's Copper Tariff
(Bloomberg) -- The world's biggest maker of copper cable is applauding President Donald Trump's planned 50% tariff on the metal, saying it will bolster the American supply chain, with costs passed on to customers. Why Did Cars Get So Hard to See Out Of? How German Cities Are Rethinking Women's Safety — With Taxis Advocates Fear US Agents Are Using 'Wellness Checks' on Children as a Prelude to Arrests Italy's Prysmian SpA — which last year shelled out $4 billion-plus to buy Texas-based Encore Wire Corp. — is in regular contact with the administration ahead of the measure's implementation on Aug. 1, said Maria Cristina Bifulco, head of investor relations and sustainability. Trump sparked chaos in metals markets last week by announcing the higher-than-expected copper tariff, the latest twist in a tumultuous period for industrial commodities. Since February, when Trump declared 'it's time for copper to come home' and aired the potential for levies, global traders have sent record volumes of the metal to the US to get ahead of the tariff. Like the rest of the industry, Encore and its Milan-listed owner are waiting for details. Still, given the 'spirit is to protect and facilitate local business,' it's expected to be applied to both semi-finished products like cable as well as raw metal, Bifulco said. 'We find the administration very open, very sensitive,' Bifulco said in an interview Monday. 'They understand very well the situation. So in this respect, we are positive.' Prysmian, which churns out about 220,000 metric tons a year of cable at a sprawling facility outside of Dallas, says it stands to benefit from tariffs relative to competitors because it sources a larger part of its copper domestically — from Phoenix-based Freeport-McMoRan Inc. — and is vertically integrated. Stakeholders in the industry are divided. Some say any meaningful increase in domestic production would take years and require additional incentives given how difficult and expensive it is to build and operate mines and plants in the US. Incumbent producers such as Freeport and Rio Tinto Group stand to benefit from a premium on US-made metal, while analysts warn it will be consumers who will have to pick up the tab. Copper prices in the US have surged ahead of the tariff. So far, Encore has been able to pass those on, although strength of future demand remains to be seen. Eventually, aluminum may be substituted for copper in some applications, Bifulco said. 'Since the final customer is the one paying the increase in prices, you need to make sure to carefully assess demand to make sure that it's resilient enough,' she said. While it's too soon to start replacing what Prysmian does import from Latin America, logically that would come from refined scrap in arrangements similar to what the company has with German copper processor Aurubis AG, she added. Prysmian has leaned on acquisitions for growth after being carved out of tire-maker Pirelli in 2005. The company bought Encore Wire last year to boost its exposure to the low-voltage electrical applications on which data centers largely rely. 'Cables are becoming all of a sudden sexy,' Bifulco said. Ewan McGregor's 1973 Moto Guzzi Is On The Auction Block
Ewan McGregor on his Moto Guzzi A custom 1973 Moto Guzzi V7Sport previously owned by motorcycle enthusiast Ewan McGregor is up for sale on the eBay Motors Marketplace. McGregor is an expert rider and avid collector, and obtained this motorbike in 2010. Now, McGregor is reportedly moving back to the U.K. and is culling his herd of motorized toys, including this motorcycle. Hand-built by Powerplant Motorcycles in Los Angeles, the fully-restored sport bike includes a freshly rebuilt motor, fully balanced T3 crankshaft, meticulously restored gauges, and a Hjeltness V7Sport seat cover. Driven by the man who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in three Star Wars movies (Episode I–The Phantom Menace, Episode II–Attack of the Clones, and Episode III–Revenge of the Sith), this is a vintage, rare motorcycle with Hollywood provenance. Not to be too obvious, but the Force is with this machine. 1973 Moto Guzzi This Motorcycle Stars In a New Apple TV Series Recognized as Moto Guzzi's first true V-twin sporting machine, the V7 Sport oozes 1970s-era styling. A large headlamp lights the road ahead and beefy drum brakes provide stopping power, while a chromed exhaust pipe snakes across the side of the frame. It's vintage, classic, and it would be not just a ride… it's an experience. This very Moto Guzzi is seen in McGregor's garage in the first episode of "The Long Way Home" on Apple TV. The series is about a love affair with vintage motorcycles, friendship, and travel. Moe Moore from Cycle Garden in Indio, California, which restored the bike, says the motorcycle still looks fresh. Cycle Garden specializes in pre-1975 Moto Guzzis and prides itself on rebuilding its bikes like new. 'The paint was shot with a silver base coat and a Burgundy candy top coat to match the original Guzzi color tone,' Moore says in the listing. '[The] motor has our High Compression pistons 88mm (955cc) and fully balanced T3 Crankshaft for a super smooth and powerful ride.' Details: 1973 Moto Guzzi owned by Ewan McGregor Why This Moto Guzzi Is Special Moto Guzzi is a motorcycle company founded more than a century ago in Italy. Known for its air-cooled longitudinal V-twin engine configuration, Moto Guzzi is the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production today. Every bike made by this company is assembled by hand on the shores of Lake Como, in Mandello del Lario. These motorcycles are beautifully-made rolling works of art. Collectors like Moto Guzzi cycles for their Italian flair, distinctive styling, and classic appeal. Add Hollywood buzz to the mix, and this 1973 bike is a keeper. Fancy yourself Obi-Wan Kenobi (or Mark Renton in Trainspotting)? Light saber not included. Ewan McGregor paid $30,000 in 2010 to restore this Moto Guzzi. Since then, Cycle Garden has built four machines for McGregor and provided service for several others. Whomever decides to take on this classic motorbike next will have to be up for the next adventure. In any case, it comes with a one-year warranty from Cycle Garden; however, that just covers the drive train, so don't go laying it down on the pavement.
