President Donald Trump addressed CBS' shocking decision to cancel The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, seemingly suggesting that other late night hosts should get a similar treatment – namely his longtime critic, Jimmy Kimmel.
'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,' Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, per Variety. 'I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!'
Kimmel and Trump have been feuding for years, Decider reports.
Not only did Trump blast Kimmel's time hosting the Oscars in 2024, but the late night host has spent almost every single evening on Jimmy Kimmel Live criticising Trump's politics in recent months. Kimmel was even moved to tears after Trump won the presidency in 2024, calling this a 'terrible night' for democracy and claiming he's on Trump's 'list of enemies.'
Trump also took a shot at Jimmy Fallon while praising Fox News late night host Greg Gutfield.

'Greg Gutfield is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show,' he wrote.
CBS announced it made the 'financial decision' to cancel The Late Show in a press release shared Thursday (July 17). The show is set to end in May 2026.
'We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television,' the statement reads, per The Hollywood Reporter. 'This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.'

The decision comes just days after Colbert criticised CBS' parent company for reaching a US$16 million (AU$24.5 million) settlement with President Trump after Trump accused 60 Minutes of editing an interview with Kamala Harris to mislead voters during the presidential election. Paramount is currently in the middle of a merger with Skydance Media that will require approval from Trump's administration.
'I don't know if anything — anything — will repair my trust in this company,' Colbert said on The Late Show earlier this week. 'But, just taking a stab at it, I'd say $16 million would help.'
Kimmel wasted no time in speaking out in support of Colbert. 'Love you Stephen. F**k you and all your Sheldons CBS,' he wrote on Instagram.

US cuts short Gaza ceasefire talks with Hamas, explores alternative options for Israeli hostages

The US is cutting short Gaza ceasefire talks and bringing home its negotiating team from Qatar, after the latest response from Hamas 'shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza,' US President Donald Trump's envoy says. Special envoy Steve Witkoff flagged that the US will now consider alternative options to bring Israeli hostages home. 'While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good faith,' Mr Witkoff said. He said it was 'a shame that Hamas has acted in this selfish way' and that the US is 'resolute' in seeking an end to the conflict in Gaza. A breakthrough in talks on a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas has eluded the Trump administration for months as conditions worsen in Gaza. The territory recently had its deadliest day yet for aid-seekers in over 21 months of war, with at least 85 Palestinians killed while trying to reach food on Sunday. Dozens of people have starved to death in recent weeks in Gaza. The sides have held weeks of talks in Qatar, reporting small signs of progress but no major breakthroughs. Officials have said a main sticking point is the redeployment of Israeli troops after any ceasefire takes place. Earlier Thursday, Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu's office recalled his country's negotiating team back to Israel in light of Hamas' response. In a brief statement, the Prime Minister's office expressed its appreciation for the efforts of Witkoff and mediators Qatar and Egypt, but it gave no further details. The deal under discussion is expected to include a 60-day ceasefire in which Hamas would release 10 living hostages and the remains of 18 others in phases in exchange for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. Aid supplies would be ramped up and the two sides would hold negotiations on a lasting truce. The talks have been bogged down over competing demands for ending the war. Hamas says it will only release all hostages in exchange for a full Israeli withdrawal and end to the war. Israel says it will not agree to end the war until Hamas gives up power and disarms, a condition the militant group rejects. The State Department said earlier in the week that Witkoff would be travelling to the Middle East for talks, but US officials later said that Witkoff would instead travel to Europe. It was unclear if he was holding meetings there on Thursday. Mr Trump earlier this month met Netanyahu at the White House, putting his weight behind a push to reach a breakthrough and a ceasefire agreement. But despite his newly strengthened partnership with Netanyahu following their countries' joint strikes on Iran, the Israeli leader left Washington without any announced breakthrough.

Nicole Kidman applies for residency permit in European country — but Keith Urban is not mentioned

Don't miss out on the headlines from Celebrity Life. Followed categories will be added to My News. Nicole Kidman has applied for residency in Portugal — hinting that she will be looking to spend more time in the sunny country. The Babygirl actress, 58, submitted her paperwork to the country's immigration agency earlier this week, according to local media outlet SIC Notícias. Kidman, who was seen stepping out of a private jet in Cascais — a wealthy seaside enclave just outside of Lisbon — has reportedly been browsing for a lavish pad in one of Portugal's most exclusive gated communities, reports The New York Post. But notably absent from her application was husband Keith Urban, whose name did not appear on any documents. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards in Texas. 'Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the US and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa,' a source with knowledge of the situation exclusively told The Post. 'He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule. While Nicole and Keith own a home in Portugal, their primary residence will continue to be in Nashville.' Kidman is said to be eyeing up a property at the celeb-loved, 722-acre CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club — a plush development about 130km south of Lisbon. The luxury development is a known favourite among the Hollywood elite, including George Clooney and Paris Hilton, and is also a base for royal family member Princess Eugenie. The CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club. It is also where Prince Harry and Meghan were rumoured to have purchased a property last year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have splashed out on one of 300 soon-to-be constructed residences belonging to the luxe complex, reportedly costing them more than $US4.7 million. CostaTerra is part of Discovery Land Company, an enterprise founded by Mike Meldman, who, along with George Clooney, invested in the billion-dollar tequila company, Casamigos. And while Urban didn't file any documents on his part, The Post can confirm that he and the Eyes Wide Shut actress already own a plush pad in Lisbon. The Post has reached out to Kidman's reps for comment. It's not clear what Kidman's plans for moving to Portugal are. The foursome is known to divide their time between the US and Australia, which could soon see Europe thrown into the mix. Since tying the knot in 2006, the duo has accumulated an impressive international real estate portfolio. Over the past nearly two decades, the couple has purchased two penthouses in the exclusive North Sydney Latitude building, combining the two to make one huge condo. The pair's first joint purchase came one year after their wedding, when they signed on the dotted line for a 36-acre estate in Franklin, Tennessee, for over $3 million. The following year, they upgraded to a lavish mansion in Nashville's exclusive Northumberland community, which they added to the growing portfolio that already boasts properties in Manhattan, Sydney, and New South Wales.
