NYPD remembers fallen officer Didarul Islam
One of the victims of the Park Avenue shooting has been identified as NYPD officer Didarul Islam. The NYPD remembered him in a moving note shared on X.
'Police Officer Didarul Islam represented the very best of our department,' the post reads. 'He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today. We join in prayer during this time of incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.'
Meanwhile, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that Tamura had a known mental health history. Local journalist David Charns of 8NewsNow reported that the suspect had one arrest in Las Vegas, which was a trespassing charge that was later dropped by prosecutors.
Tamura is also believed to have allowed an innocent woman to exit the elevator bank without harming her while he was "spraying" gunfire across the lobby at 345 Park Avenue, officials said, as reported by the New York Post. The suspect allowed "her to walk past him unharmed" before entering the elevator, Tisch said.

‘Digging My Grave': Who Is David? Family Says ‘Living Skeleton', Israel Sees Largest Stir Over Clip
Last Updated: Evyatar David's video has triggered protests at Tel Aviv's 'Hostage Square', with thousands coming out on the streets to push PM Benjamin Netanyahu to make a deal for the hostages Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday released another disturbing video of a weak Israeli hostage, Evyatar David, 24, showing him digging what he calls 'his grave" in an underground tunnel. This is his second video circulated within 48 hours. The videos have triggered protests at Tel Aviv's 'Hostage Square', with thousands coming out on the streets in the largest rally since the start of the war to push Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to make a deal for the hostages. What does the video clip released by Hamas show? In the footage, David is seen using a shovel in the tunnel. He is seen saying in Hebrew: 'What I'm doing now is digging my own grave. Every day my body becomes weaker and weaker. I'm walking directly to my grave. There is the grave where I am going to be buried in. Time is running out to be released and be able to sleep in my bed with my family." He is then seen breaking down. The footage is juxtaposed with images of starving Palestinian children. In addition to the footage of David, Hamas and Islamic Jihad released another video showing hostage Rom Braslavski, 21, a dual German-Israeli citizen, also appearing weak. How has David's family reacted? David's family, according to the New York Post, said in a statement sent to the Hostages Families Forum Headquarters, 'We are forced to witness our beloved son and brother, Evyatar David, deliberately and cynically starved in Hamas's tunnels in Gaza — a living skeleton, buried alive." David's family in a statement said, 'The deliberate starvation of our son as part of a propaganda campaign is one of the most horrifying acts the world has seen. He is being starved purely to serve Hamas's propaganda." 'Hamas is using our son as a live experiment in a vile hunger campaign. The deliberate starvation of our son as part of a propaganda campaign is one of the most horrifying acts the world has seen," David's family was quoted by news agency AFP as saying. A heartbreaking 40-second clip showing Israeli hostage Evyatar David, looking skeletal and frail inside a tunnel, was released with his family's permission, after Hamas published the footage without their consent. The family described him as a 'living skeleton buried alive" and… — ILTV Israel News (@ILTVNews) August 2, 2025 'Nazi-like Abuse': Benjamin Netanyahu speaks to the family Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said he spoke with the families of Hamas hostages Rom Braslavsky and Evyatar David. 'I expressed to them my deep shock at the harsh footage published by the Hamas terror organisation. I told them in the clearest way – we are continuing the effort to bring back all the hostages, relentlessly, with determination, and without tire," he said in a post on X. Netanyahu said the 'cruelty of Hamas knows no bounds." 'While the State of Israel allows the entry of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, Hamas terrorists deliberately starve our hostages, documenting them in a cynical, humiliating, and malicious manner," he added. 'They also deliberately starve the residents of the Strip," Netanyahu alleged. 'They prevent aid from reaching them, and then lie to the world and conduct a false propaganda campaign against Israel," he said. Netanyahu called on all the countries of the world – stand against this 'Nazi-like abuse. Do not stand by. This is a moral test." Who is Evyatar David? Evyatar David was reportedly abducted, along with his friend Gal Gilboa-Dalal, during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 that sparked the Gaza war. Both had been attending the Nova music festival in southern Israel. Palestinian militants killed 370. Of the 251 hostages taken during the Hamas attack, 49 are still being held in Gaza, including 27, the Israeli military says, are dead. In late February, Hamas had released a video showing David and Gilboa-Dalal being held inside a vehicle and forced to watch a hostage release ceremony a short distance away, AFP reported. Austin Drummond manhunt: Dyer County, Jackson, Caruthersville - tracing Tennessee quadruple murder suspect's steps
The hunt is on for Austin Robert Drummond, the main suspect in the quadruple murder in Tennessee. Authorities are searching for him in connection with the deaths of four people in Tiptonville on Tuesday. TBI launched a massive manhunt for Austin Robert Drummond(X/@TBInvestigation) The victims have been identified as Matthew Wilson, 21, the abandoned child's father; Adrianna Williams, 20, the mother; Cortney Rose, 38, the maternal grandmother; and Braydon Williams, 15, the maternal uncle. The bodies were discovered when an infant was found in an abandoned car seat in Dyer County, which set off a frantic search to find the baby's guardians. Authorities said it was murder but didn't clarify how they died. However, they noted that there was a 'familial relationship' between the victims and the suspect. Meanwhile, Drummond has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, possession of a gun during a dangerous felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was out on bond when the killings occurred. Authorities have also arrested two men – Tanaka Brown and Giovonte Thomas – who they are calling his 'associates'. They have been picked up on suspicion of helping the fugitive. Tracing Austin Drummond's steps Austin Drummond is suspected of committing the quadruple murder in Tiptonville. One of his cars – a white 1988 Ford pickup which has red side panels – was found in Dyer County on Saturday, NBC News reported. The distance between Dyer County and Tiptonville is 26.8 miles, and could have been covered in under 40 minutes by car. However, authorities also found Drummond's white 2016 Audi A3 on Friday. It was found in Jackson, 74 miles southeast of Tiptonville. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation director David B. Rausch on Friday said authorities believed Drummond was in Jackson. With the crime being committed on Tuesday, and the drive taking around one and a half hours, Drummond would have had enough time to make it to Jackson by Friday, even if he were to lay low for a couple of days after the crime. Today, he has reportedly been sighted in Missouri, specifically Caruthersville. This is in Missouri, meaning, Drummond has most likely crossed state lines. However, the distance is not much, as Missouri and Tennessee are neighboring states, and Jackson to Caruthersville is 70.5 miles, and takes around an hour and fifteen minutes by road. 'The Caruthersville Police Department and local law enforcement agencies are currently investigating and following up on potential sightings related to Austin Drummond. At this time, we are working to verify the accuracy and credibility of the information received. We understand the public's concern and appreciate the community's continued vigilance. Please rest assured that if any valid or confirmed information develops, we will promptly update the public through our official channels,' the department said in a statement.

Forged signatures found on New York Mayor Eric Adams' re-election petition: Report
More than 50 signatures submitted on New York City Mayor Eric Adams' petition to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming November election appear to be fraudulent, according to a Gothamist investigation reported by The Guardian. The findings include three signatures from deceased individuals and dozens more from people who claimed their names were forged. The Gothamist also reportedly spoke to several residents who said they were misled into signing the documents. Candidates running as independents are required to submit at least 7,500 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot. Adams' campaign submitted nearly 50,000 signatures, well above the threshold. The questionable entries reportedly came from nine campaign workers who together submitted over 5,000 signatures. One person allegedly collected more than 700 in a single day. In some instances, the Gothamist observed strikingly similar handwriting among multiple entries from the same apartment building. Adams' campaign had earlier told the Gothamist it expected contractors to follow legal procedures and said it would conduct its own audit of the petitions. An attorney for the mayor said there is no evidence Adams instructed anyone to break the law and added that the campaign would 'determine whether any corrective action is warranted,' reported The Guardian. Veteran election law expert Jerry Goldfeder noted that while invalid signatures are not unusual, cases involving blatant fraud can lead to criminal referrals. 'Every now and again, somebody tries to cut corners, and they're generally caught,' Goldfeder said as per The Guardian. 'Sometimes those cases are referred to the district attorney or the US attorney, and there are prosecutions.' The revelation comes as Adams faces stiff competition in the November 4 election. His challengers include Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, and ex-prosecutor Jim Walden. Cuomo and Walden, like Adams, are running as independents. The election takes place amid heightened public concern after a gunman shot and killed four people in a Midtown office building earlier this week. Among the victims was off-duty NYPD officer Didarul Islam. Adams' administration has urged New Yorkers to seek mental health support in the aftermath of the attack. Meanwhile, Mamdani has sought to distance himself from past calls to defund the NYPD, saying Wednesday, according to The Guardian: 'I'm not running to defund the police… I am running as a candidate who is not fixed in time, one that learns and one that leads.'
