Dubai real estate: Meraas unveils $225mn Atélis Tower in D3
The waterfront tower, designed by SOM, the firm behind Burj Khalifa, will feature 280 residences on the Creekside shoreline.
The tower's design draws inspiration from the UAE's desert flower, with a facade characterised by curved, petal-like balconies.

These staggered terraces provide shade and enhance the building's environmental performance whilst offering views of the waterfront and the city's skyline.
The residential offering includes one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments, alongside three duplex sky villas with private terraces and two penthouses with double-height living spaces.
The development is situated with views of the new waterfront and Dubai Creek to the north, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary to the east, and Downtown Dubai to the west.

The development offers three floors of amenities, including co-working spaces, an entertainment room, a children's learning area, and a multi-purpose room extending to outdoor gardens.
A dedicated floor houses spa and wellness facilities, a gym, an infinity pool, lounges, and a reading lawn.
Atélis is part of d3's expansion plan, which will add six Grade-A office buildings contributing over 500,000 sq.ft. of gross leasable area to the district.
The AED 825 million development, scheduled for completion by H1 2028, will feature LEED-certified office spaces with views of the city's skyline, sports facilities, community spaces, parking, dining options, and an extended promenade.

Abu Dhabi Airports reported on Monday a 13.1% increase in passenger traffic to 15.8 million in the first half of the year, defying periodic disruptions to air transport in the Middle East caused by conflicts. Low-cost carrier Wizz Air said last week that it would exit its Abu Dhabi operation starting September 1, citing factors including geopolitical instability. "The first six months of this year have posed some operational challenges," Abu Dhabi Airports CEO Elena Sorlini said in a statement, adding that the company's results demonstrated the resilience of its network. Abu Dhabi Airports also operates Al Ain International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Delma Island Airport and Sir Bani Yas Island Airport, besides AUH.

Golf's global participation hits 108m mark as UAE leads surge in off-course & junior play
The game of golf continues its impressive global growth, with the R&A's newly released 2024 Global Participation Report confirming that 108 million adults and juniors now play golf across its affiliated markets, up nearly 3 million from 2023. This surge includes both traditional on-course formats and the booming world of simulator golf, adventure golf, and driving ranges. In the UAE, this trend is increasingly visible, with an estimated 20,000+ active players, including a rising number embracing off-course formats like simulator golf, which has seen a marked increase across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For the first time, junior participation data has been incorporated, revealing that 43.9 million juniors now play globally, with a striking 80% engaging through formats other than 9- or 18-hole golf. This reflects the UAE's own junior golf ecosystem, where school programs and shorter formats are helping draw more children into the sport. 'The growth in non-traditional formats such as driving ranges, adventure golf and simulator golf is helping drive participation among adults and juniors on a global scale while on-course activity also remains very popular,' said Mark Darbon, Chief Executive of The R&A. 'Over 100 million people playing golf in some format is significant and highlights the sport's sustained appeal.' The total adult participation stands at 64.1 million, with on-course players (9- and 18-hole) now at 43.3 million, up from 42.7 million the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of registered golfers, those formally part of golf clubs, has grown steadily to 8.4 million. Asia remains the top region with 26.2 million adult golfers, followed by Europe and Canada. In Europe alone, junior participation has topped 18.5 million. Encouragingly, women now account for 31% of adult golfers in the R&A's top markets, and 50% of adult participation in non-traditional formats. As the UAE continues to invest in golf tourism, luxury golfing communities, and youth academies, the region is poised to mirror, and contribute to, this global momentum. With events like the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, DP World Tour Championship, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the recent growth of golf entertainment venues, the sport is quickly becoming a lifestyle choice for many in the Emirates.

Emirates boosts services to Dublin with third daily flight
Emirates is set to launch a third daily service to Dublin starting from October 26, offering customers more travel options to Dubai and increased cargo capacity. The new flight will depart from Dubai at 02:10hrs and arrive in Dublin at 06:25hrs local time. The return flight, EK166, will depart from Dublin at 08:25hrs and arrive in Dubai at 20:00hrs local time. The third daily flight will use a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering 8 private suites in First Class, 42 lie flat seats in Business Class, and 304 spacious seats in Economy Class. The service will also offer enhanced connectivity to popular destinations across Emirates' network, including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok.
