Orange completes successful trial of Fujitsu 1FINITY optical transport solution
KAWASAKI, Japan, June 4, 2025 /CNW/ -- Fujitsu Limited announced that Orange S.A. successfully completed a lab evaluation of the Fujitsu 1FINITY™ T900 Series Transponder. The evaluation demonstrated outstanding performance at 800Gbps wavelengths over long distances with low power consumption, enabling affordable and sustainable optical transport.
Network operators face the challenge of transporting more traffic at a lower cost per bit due to increasing data demands and rising costs. This is further complicated by high energy costs and environmental sustainability goals, pushing network operators to reduce power consumption for a lower carbon footprint.
Orange's evaluation at its Innovation Labs in France revealed that the 1FINITY T900 transponder maintained low and constant power consumption across all transmission rates, achieving a transport distance of at least 1600 km at 800Gbps with power consumption below 150 Watts. This demonstrates the potential for even greater long-haul transport distance and capacity without increased power consumption.
This energy efficiency is enabled by Fujitsu's unique closed-loop liquid cooling technology. Combined with its ability to support up to 1.2Tbps per wavelength, the liquid-cooled transponder offers increased spectral efficiency for optimum capacity and reach, resulting in a lower cost per bit per km, reduced operating costs, and improved sustainability.
Houmed Ibrahim, Optical Transport Innovation leader at Orange, emphasized the company's commitment to deploying high-performance networks with minimal power consumption. Hideki Matsui, head of Photonics System Business Unit at Fujitsu, stated that the 1FINITY T900 solution empowers extreme scale and reliable terabit performance while consuming up to 70% less power at 800Gbps wavelengths.
Fujitsu is establishing a new company, 1FINITY Inc., on July 1 to consolidate its network business products and operations. This aims to accelerate the delivery of high-quality optical and wireless solutions globally, contributing to a more sustainable future.

AI Ultra-HD Birdwatching: Kiwibit Turns Your Home into a Nature Theater
Have you ever waited days or even weeks for the perfect visitor? That elegant, delicate little bird, dazzling like a streak of blue lightning. Finally, your smart bird feeder buzzes—an Indigo Bunting has arrived. You scramble to capture the moment, only to discover the feeder mislabeled the bird as a sparrow, the video is blurry, and the battery died right after. It's hard to put into words how disappointing this is. For many families hoping to bring nature closer, the dream is to have a bird feeder that's both effortless and enjoyable to use as promised. But in reality, the system misidentifies common birds, cameras miss the clarity to distinguish plumage and detail, and battery life proves too short for real daily use. It's these frustrations that led Kiwibit to create Beako™—a device built not just for birds, but for the people who care about them. At the heart of Beako™ is an AI-powered ultra-high-definition 4K camera, and every step it takes is impressive. The moment a bird touches down, the wide-angle lens wakes up silently. A glint of iridescent feathers, a shared moment over seeds, even an aerial squabble—everything is captured in striking detail, turning your backyard into a front-row seat to nature's theater. Worried you might miss it? You won't. Beako™'s KeyShot feature records highlights automatically, so you never miss a moment worth saving and sharing. Its AI, trained on data from over 10,000 bird species, accurately tags each visitor and sends a gentle notification to your phone, complete with species facts and photos. Meanwhile, the smart detection system quietly screens intruders like squirrels, keeping the stage reserved for your feathered guests. Every aspect of Beako™ is thoughtfully designed with real-world use in mind. Dual food chambers with a 1.5-liter total capacity make refilling simple and varied. The easy-to-clean tray detaches in seconds and is fully washable. The weatherproof design is rated IP65 and operates in temperatures as low as -4°F and as high as 122°F, while the solar-powered battery ensures weeks of uninterrupted use. The setup process is quick and intuitive. The app walks users through installation, Wi-Fi connection, and preferences like notification timing or privacy modes. What really sets Beako™ apart isn't just the technology. It's how that technology fits into your day. It doesn't demand your attention. It enhances your awareness. It turns a backyard into a place of daily wonder that sparks curiosity in kids, offers adults a moment of stillness amid the noise of modern life, and most importantly, brings generations together. Whether you're a seasoned birder or just starting out, Beako™ transforms simple backyard visits into shared family moments. For parents looking to teach kids about local wildlife, or seniors enjoying the rhythms of nature from the porch, Beako™ offers a lens through which to see the world a little more clearly. Beako™ also makes for a thoughtful gift which carries meaning beyond the packaging. For birthdays, holidays, or housewarming occasions, it introduces a new kind of present: an invitation to connect with nature, to learn something new each day, and to build habits that enrich family life. Reviews from early users speak to its everyday impact. 'It's part of our morning routine now,' wrote one user from the U.S. 'Coffee, toast, and seeing who showed up on Beako™ overnight.' Another called it 'a way to slow down and tune in, without needing to leave home.' Beako™ is available now at and with special Prime Day deals just around the corner. For those looking to surprise a loved one, this is not to be missed.
