Jagan to visit Nellore Central Jail on June 12 to meet former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy
On Tuesday, the CID police officials have produced Mr. Govardhan Reddy before the CID Special Court in Guntur on a PT (Prisoner Transfer) warrant. After the hearing arguments from both sides in the court, the Sixth Additional Judge remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. He was brought back to Nellore Central Prision on the same day.
Mr. Jagan's visit is aimed at extending support and expressing solidarity with the former Minister. He will arrive Nellore in a special helicopter. The key leaders of the YSRCP were called upon by the top brass of the party to come to the jail premises to protest against the illegal arrest of Mr. Govardhan Reddy.
YSRCP Kavali constituency president and former MLA Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy said, 'As part of the current Red Book Constitution prevailing in the State, Mr. Govardhan Reddy has been arrested in an illegal case and is under remand in the Nellore Central Prision. All the leaders, activists and fans of the YSRCP will participate in the programme in support of Mr. Govardhan Reddy.'

YSRSU seeks action against private schools flouting rules
A delegation of YSR Students Union of Anantapur district on Monday met In-charge Collector Shivnarayan Sharma and submitted a memorandum urging him to resolve the issues pertaining to the student community. YSRSU district president Chandrasekhar Yadav alleged that the private school managements in the district have denied free seats for eligible candidates under Section 12(1)(C) of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, for the academic year 2024–25. The students' wing of YSRCP in the representation demanded an inquiry and legal action against the respective school managements. Mr. Chandrasekhar Yadav also wanted action against educational institutions operating unfit buses in violation of government regulations. He said that some school bus drivers do not even possess valid licenses and the buses which are unfit but are transporting students should be seized immediately. Later addressing the media, Mr. Chandrasekhar Yadav alleged that private and corporate educational institutions are being excessively promoted while public education is being neglected. He also pointed out that many private and corporate school buses are overloaded with students, violating safety norms.

YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy condemns arrest of party leader Ramesh Kumar Reddy
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly condemned the arrest of party leader and former MLA Reddappagari Ramesh Kumar Reddy, terming it politically motivated and unlawful. The arrest reportedly followed a complaint filed by a local leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from Lakkireddipalle. The complainant alleged that Ramesh Kumar Reddy had made political remarks critical of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy. Mr Ramesh Kumar Reddy currently serves as YSRCP's State representative and observer for the Hindupur parliamentary constituency. In a telephonic conversation, Mr. Jagan enquired about the circumstances surrounding his arrest and assured Mr. Reddy of the party's full support. Calling the arrest a misuse of the 'Red Book' framework and an assault on democratic principles, Mr. Jagan accused the ruling government of using fabricated cases and police intimidation to silence political opponents. He asserted that such actions represent a dangerous trend of using state machinery to stifle dissent. Mr. Jagan also directed the YSRCP's legal cell to provide comprehensive legal assistance to Ramesh Kumar Reddy and reaffirmed the party's commitment to defending its leaders against what he described as unjust and politically driven persecution.

Naidu, Jagan mourn death of veteran Communist leader V.S. Achuthanandan
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of veteran Communist leader and former Chief Minister of Kerala, V. S. Achuthanandan. In a post on X on Monday, he described Achuthanandan's political journey, spanning over eight decades, as a reflection of unwavering dedication to his ideals and public service. 'May his soul rest in peace,' he stated. YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also conveyed his sorrow over the demise of the prominent Communist leader. He noted that Kerala's political landscape had lost a great statesman with Achuthanandan's passing. Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the veteran leader's courage, commitment, and deep connection with the people, saying these qualities would be remembered forever. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and admirers and prayed for peace to the departed soul. The Andhra Pradesh State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expressed deep sorrow over the veteran leader's demise. Achuthanandan passed away at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday due to age-related ailments. He was 101. In a condolence message, the party State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao conveyed sympathies on behalf of the party and instructed all party offices in the State to lower flags as a mark of respect. He described Achuthanandan as a towering figure in India's Communist movement, who joined the party at the age of 17 and played a crucial role in the land reform struggles under the leadership of Comrade Krishna Pillai. Achuthanandan led several key workers' and farm labourers' movements and was instrumental in shaping the growth of the Communist Party in Kerala. Remembering him as a humble leader devoted to the cause of social justice, Mr. Rao said his death is an irreparable loss to the Communist movement and the people at large.
